EVERYTHING FELT DIFFERENT, and Lexi didn't know how to get back to normal again. Lydia was completely ignoring her because of what happened at the party, and the fact that Lexi had left - by the time Lydia got home, and no one was at her house, even her own sister, she felt like she had been abandoned, yet again; all Lexi ever did was abandon her and keep sisters, and the fact that her own sister could do that, hurt her, a lot. It wasn't like Lydia was asking for much, she just wanted the truth from Lexi and Allison with what was going on with everyone and everything, but since her mom had died, she had been completely ignoring everyone, and hardly even coming to school anymore. She wanted things to go back to how they used to be, and the fact that Jackson was avoiding school altogether, said that something bad had happened that caused everyone to separate completely, and in all truth, she missed how everything used to be, she just missed her friends.
Lexi hadn't gone home that night when they had been trapped in the police station with Matt and Jackson, she spent as much time in the station with Stiles afterwards, that she had made it home early hours of the morning, arriving when Lydia was already asleep, trying to sleep off what had happened with Peter, something that Lexi had no clue about, and Lydia didn't plan on telling her, either, not wanting to look like a complete crazy person. Lexi didn't think to check in on Lydia because she believed that the girl was just suffering a hangover, but because she didn't, Lydia didn't know if she would ever be able to forgive her. When Lexi tried to ring Stiles the next morning, he didn't answer, then when she had tried talking to him at school, he shrugged her off, acting like he had something he had to do, something that was too important to miss, even just for a moment to talk to her - she knew that something had happened to make him do it, but she couldn't figure out what it was. The night at the police station, Lexi and Stiles were doing fine, he wasn't letting her out of his sight, he was keeping her in his arms, and he was terrified of loosing her; the next morning, everything had changed.
It hurt her, the fact that Stiles couldn't tell her what was bothering him, that he was avoiding her because of it, and it hurt her that he didn't believe she could help. Lexi had seen him walk in and out of counselling, because she had to go to a few sessions herself, thanks to her mother, who believed that loosing a classmate meant that you needed it, which was the exact opposite of what Lexi needed, knowing how Matt died and what he did before that, the last thing she wanted to do was talk about it with some teacher who didn't know what they were doing. The one thing she did want, however, was to find out why Stiles was ignoring her, and why he was pretending like she didn't even exist anymore - she didn't like to think that maybe he had grown tired of her, that he realised exactly who she was and the fact that she wasn't who he thought she was. All of that broke her heart into little pieces, and she just wanted him to rip the band aid off instead of dragging it on and giving her false hope that maybe their relationship would last.
Lexi had been suffering in silence, to say the least, Allison was M.I.A, Lydia was ignoring her, Scott was dealing with his own issues with his mom and Peter and Stiles.. God knew what he was doing, but he was breaking Lexi's heart doing so.. Did that mean she was going to miss the game? Hell no, it was one of the biggest games of the year, and she still wanted to be as normal as she could in this messed up town, so she didn't hesitate grabbing one of Stiles' hoodies that he had given her one time, wrapping herself up in it and heading back to the school to watch the game, one that she hoped Stiles wouldn't be on the bench for again. The closer she got to the field, the more her heart rate sped, nervous to see Stiles because of the fact he had been ignoring her to no end, she was afraid that he would officially end it, and she didn't know how to deal with it all.
Stiles was sitting on the bench next to Scott as he watched Lexi arrive, avoiding his eyeline as she took a seat next to his father, who smiled down at the girl and pulled her in for a hug, which she gladly returned, the girl wearing his hoodie, making his chest warm. He hadn't meant to avoid her all week, he just couldn't face her after what had happened after the incident at the police station - he was so broken over the fact that he couldn't protect those he loved. He had to watch as the girl he loved couldn't move a muscle, when she had to be dragged away from a killer Jackson by Scott, and not him, because it should be him, it should be him that saved her, not Scott, him. If he couldn't protect her, why would she even want to be with him? They were the only thoughts swarming around his head the moment he and Lexi were separated, and her mom had forced her to go home at the end of the night, after rushing back from her business trip. It broke Stiles heart, avoiding her, but it was what he had to do to keep her safe.
"I haven't seen you around the house all week, everything okay?" Noah asked Lexi as they finally sat down after greeting one another. Lexi appreciated the way Noah had handled Matt at the police station, and the way he had calmed her mother down when she had rushed over to pick her up. Noah was confused, since the girl often dropped by and hung out with Stiles, either doing homework or watching films, he didn't understand why she hadn't been round all week, since Stiles had never said anything to him about breaking up with the girl - he hoped he hadn't, since he believed that Lexi would be really good for his son.
Lexi didn't want to put Stiles on blast, since she had an idea that Noah wouldn't be happy with his son for ignoring her for week straight - the girl smiled at him again to show that she wasn't hurt about not being invited round their house all week. "My mom's got me on lockdown with the whole Matt thing, I've barely been out of the house after school all week." She told him, partly telling the truth, and partly lying - her mom had been over bearing since the police station incident, not exactly letting her out of the house much; but she knew that if she told her mom she would be going to Stiles, she would've been allowed to go round.
She didn't know that Scott was telling Stiles what she was saying to his dad on the benches, and she didn't know that a pool of guilt was starting to drown Stiles because of how he had treated her this week - he was just scared, and because of that, he had started pushing her away, and she was still lying for him even though what he'd done. He hated himself for it.
"Why have you been ignoring her?" Scott asked Stiles, still not understanding why the boy had been keeping his distance from the girl he loved - throughout their whole lives, Stiles had always talked about Lexi, about how he loved her, how she was the prettiest girl he had even set eyes on, and how he wanted to be with her. It was the only thing he could talk about when they were younger, and it was the only person he could ever look at during school hours, Scott was always shocked about how much he loved this girl without even talking to her first, and now Stiles had her, and he was throwing it all away for some stupid thought of his.
"You know why." Stiles mumbled, looking away from Lexi and his dad smiling and talking on the bleachers like they had been best friends for their whole lives. It's what he loved most about Lexi, her kindness, and her ability to make anyone love her.
"Because of what happened at the station?" Scott asked, remembering what Stiles had said about how he couldn't keep Lexi and his dad safe away from Jackson, and that he hated himself for it.
"Exactly." Stiles agreed, not elaborating anymore on what had happened that night. He couldn't do anything to help his dad or Lexi, and that was what was eating him up inside.
Scott sighed, turning back to look at Lexi again, who was watching the two of them discreetly, he smiled upon meeting her eyes, and she sent a kind smile back, a small wave from her perfectly manicured hands following. The girl didn't exactly have a mean bone in her body, and even if Stiles was being completely uncalled for, she didn't let it bother her, and she was still incredibly nice towards him. When he turned back around, Lexi sighed, wishing that it had been Stiles who turned to give her a smile, she hadn't received one all week; the boy sulked through the hallways at school with a scowl on his face, she hadn't seen him smile since before the police station incident, and she wanted nothing but to help him through whatever it was was bugging him. "Why is my son running on the field?" Noah asked, causing Lexi to turn and witness Stiles making his way onto the field, fully dressed in his lacrosse gear, like he was going to actually play in the game.
Lexi immediately felt a smile raise onto her face, seeing Stiles running onto the field had caused a fluttering in her stomach, knowing that it's what Stiles had wanted most for as long as she could remember, the fact that it was finally happening, made the girl extremely happy. He had been on the team for so long, always sitting on the bench, and now that he was out there, he looked ecstatic. "Because he's on the team?" Melissa asked, clearly not understanding that Stiles had never been on the field before.
Noah seemed shocked at her words, having completely forgotten that he was on the team, as Lexi just couldn't keep the smile off of her face, her muscles were beginning to ache from the wideness of it, but she didn't care, Stiles was on the field! "He is." Noah mumbled, exchanging a look with Lexi as the two couldn't be more excited for Stiles; the man pulled her up as she grabbed her hand, Lexi blushing red at the boy she loved looking over at her, "He's on the field.. My son is on the field!" The older man cheered, causing everyone in the bleachers to look at them in confusion.
"Go Stiles! Woo!" Lexi cheered along with Noah, the two looking ecstatic for the boy as they cheered for him just being on the field, jumping up and down and squealing as she couldn't be more happy for him. Lexi noticed Stiles looking over at her, a look on his face that she couldn't quite read due to his helmet covering it, but she saw a smile underneath it, and she smiled even wider at the sight. Maybe things weren't over, after all.
Sitting back down, she exchanged another gleeful look with Noah as they were both excited over Stiles on the field. But the more time they had to wait, they were getting more nervous about watching him play - scared that maybe he wouldn't perform as well because of the pressure.
Lexi felt a presence take a seat next to her, the girl turning to see her twin sister, smiling at her, "Hey." Lydia greeted, linking her arm through her sisters as Lexi looked at her in shock, having thought she hated her. Lydia was upset with Lexi, sure, but she had spent a week ignoring her, and she wanted her sister back, and after the game was finished, she wanted answers, and she was going to get them. "Stiles is on the field." She said, looking out at the field and feeling glad about it, since it would make Lexi happy. She's finally decided after all of this time, that maybe Stiles wasn't such a bad fit for her sister..
Lexi's smile widened yet again, "He is." She confirmed, nodding eagerly as she glanced back at the field at Stiles getting ready to play the game, unknown to her that Gerard was threatening her life to Scott, who was listening to the man whisper on the other side of the field. Not only was he threatening Lexi, but everyone else who was sitting on the bleachers, playing in the game, and even Stiles. She was clueless on the threats being made against her life, Gerard knowing that taking her out would be of great benefit to him since she wouldn't be able to warn them on what he was doing next - he had read about Empaths, and he needed her gone. But Scott wasn't going to let that happen.
The second the whistle blew, Lexi felt her heart speed up, keeping her eyes locked on Stiles as she gripped Lydia's hand in nerves, squeezing it tight as she watched the boy she loved being bashed into, sending him down to the ground in pain. She cringed at the sight, causing Lydia to squeeze her hand back, "He's just nervous. Plenty of time to turn it around." She told Lexi, Melissa and Noah, who were all watching the field nervously.
Until the ball came flying at Stiles' head, the boy standing in shock as it hit him; Lexi closed her eyes and looked up at the sky, praying for this to turn around for him, knowing that it was his dream.
"He's got this." Lexi mumbled, mostly to herself as she kept her eyes on Stiles no matter what, until Isaac began throwing their own team around like rag dolls, more people stepping into the game when another had to be pulled out. She didn't know what he was doing, but judging by the lack of surprise on Scott's face, she had an idea that this was planned.. Until Isaac bashed into Jackson, and the boy had to be pulled off of the field, and Scott eventually disappeared completely from the field, Lexi unsure of what the hell was happening right now - either way, she kept her eyes trailed on Stiles' figure, making sure he was okay, and still there.
Their team was getting completely dominated, and it was hard to watch, especially now that Scott and Isaac were out; when Melissa joined them again on the bleachers, the woman exchanging a look with Lexi about what was happening, and the ginger girl immediately knew that something bad was going down, having thought the bad feeling in her stomach was because of Stiles getting beaten on the field so much. Now she thought about it, she felt a tingling in the back of her neck, in her shoulders and all over, the girl instantly knowing that something was happening to multiple pack members at this very moment - because she had been so focused on Stiles, she had missed it. She felt uneasy as she turned back to the field, knowing that Melissa wouldn't have given her that look if it didn't mean something was happening; Scott had told his mom everything, including what Lexi was, and she knew this, which is why she immediately knew that something supernatural was happening, and she wasn't giving her a look because of how bad Stiles was doing.
Turning back to the field, she saw the ball roll towards Stiles' feet, the boy unmoving as he looked down at it, then back up at the rest of the players on the field, unaware that he had the ball at his feet. They were asking one another about who's got the ball, and Stiles still didn't touch the thing, looking around panicked and not knowing what to do with it, like it was a foreign object to him and if he touched it, bad things could happen.. He eventually picked it up, backing up quickly before turning around and running, the whole team and the other team following behind him in an instant, Lexi on the edge of her seat as she watched it go down - she could hear Stiles yelling in fear as he ran away, looking back every second to see everyone running after him, he was terrified. "Stilinksi, shoot it!" Coach yelled, when Stiles stood at the goal with the ball in his lacrosse stick, not throwing it in, but looking around like he had no idea what was happening.
When he still didn't shoot, Lexi stood up, cupping her hands around her mouth, "Shoot it, Stiles!" She yelled, and that's what gave Stiles the motivation to throw it, her voice.
The ball went into the net, Lexi and Lydia screaming in joy as Noah stood up and cheered like he had never done so before, Lexi quickly joining him and jumping up and down in celebration. "Go on Stiles!" She shouted, as Stiles shouted himself that eh had shot the hall, quickly shooting yet another one now he had the confidence to do so, Lexi unable to keep her excitement in as she jumped up and down in the bleachers with Noah by her side, doing the exact same thing.
Now was time for him to shoot even more goals, everyone in the bleachers and the team cheering Stiles on, screaming in celebration.
Stiles looked up at Lexi, feeling everything going in slow motion as she clapped for him smiling, for the boy - he only cared about making her proud, and when he finally had, he was happy! She hugged Noah when they won because of Stiles, and he jumped up and down in celebration, too.
Until the lights went out, the whole field going completely dark and no one able to see anything, when a scream sounded out, and Lexi was being pushed around, loosing Noah's hand and feeling completely lost, "Stiles!" She yelled, tears streaming down her face as she sensed something terrible, "Stiles!" She shouted again, when the lights finally came back on, and everything went downhill from there..
