( 𝟎𝟐𝟗 ) testing the venom

'venomous'

AFTER THE NIGHT AT the garage, Lexi had wished and prayed that she wouldn't feel the effects of the lizards claws ever again — she hated not being able to move her whole body when a murderous lizard was dying her up like she was dinner on a serving plate; but as she laid on the wet floor, looking over at Stiles as he tried his hardest to keep Derek's head above the water, the girl realised that her wish and prayers had been ignored. Even if Stiles had called Scott multiple times on the girls phone, the boy ended up hanging up on him and then turned his phone off so they couldn't even call his number anymore, and Lexi swore that if he was having a 'moment' with Allison, she was going to kill him herself, if she even survived this lizard in the first place. The girl felt awful that she could only watch the two of them in the pool as her own body wouldn't listen to her, Stiles was clearly struggling with keeping Derek's head above the water, and she didn't blame him one bit, since Derek looked like he would weigh a tonne. "Can you move, yet?" The buzz-cut boy asked Lexi, his voice breathless from feeling like he had been working out for hours on end.

Lexi tried to move any part of her body, trying to force even her toes to move, but nothing was listening to her commands, like her body and every part was ignoring her requests. "No, I can't even wriggle my toes." Lexi said, her eyes still tracking the giant lizard around the pool, having absolutely no idea as to why it was just ignoring her and not attempting to kill her like it was with Stiles and Derek. "Why hasn't it bothered with me? Why just you two?" The girl finally voiced out, eventually loosing sight of the lizard; the girls heart rate speeding up at the mere thought that maybe the thing was just playing with its food until it was satisfied. Something just didn't sit right with her, why the lizard hadn't even attempted to go near her like it was with Stiles and Derek; if it wasn't afraid of the water, Lexi was sure that the thing probably would have tried to kill them at this point, but it was just bidding it's time.

"You sound like you want it after you." Stiles spoke up, kicking his legs aggressively to attempt to stay above the water, Derek's body threatening to drag him down every single send they stay in here, yet he didn't have enough energy to swim Derek to the edge, and even if he did, the lizard would then get them both. He shook his head, "I can't stay up any longer. I need something to hold on to." He spoke up quickly, not letting Lexi say another word on the matter with the lizard completely ignoring her as she laid besides them pool. "Is the thing still here?" Stiles asked Lexi, who moved her eyes around the room again to see if the lizard was still here.

When she spotted the familiar lizard skin near the roof, watching them all still, "Yeah, it's up on the roof, still." She told him, as Stiles sighed in frustration, knowing he can't stay up much longer. Before saying anything else, Stiles began to swim towards the pools ladder so he could use the pole to keep both him and Derek up, using all of his energy to do so, knowing he couldn't hold on any longer. But his hand kept slipping from the pole, the boy unable to hold onto it, "Stiles, if you drown, I'm going to kill you!" Lexi shouted, seeing Stiles fail over and over again with grabbing onto the ladder. The last thing she saw, was Stiles and Derek's head eventually falling under the water, when suddenly, Scott appeared, a frantic look on his face, "They're under the water, Scott, quick!" She yelled frantically, scared that Stiles was drowning along with Derek.

So Scott dove in, dragging the two out by their shirts and throwing them onto the floor where they could finally breathe, which is when Stiles sprung into action and began crawling weakly towards Lexi, who was nearly on the verge of tears from seeing Stiles nearly drown. "I'm okay. Are you okay?" He whispered, clutching the girls face in his hands as he looked her over.

"You nearly drowned." Lexi gasped, her toes finally able to move as she attempted to reach Stiles, eventually raising her arms and wrapping them around him, pulling him down into her grasp, holding him close, not wanting to let go. She didn't realise that she would be so affected at Stiles being hurt, and vice versa, but as the two clung onto each other like life depended on it, they knew that they were a lot more than they thought..

Lexi rushed out of the school long before anyone else did, needing to get home to Lydia since they had been stuck in the pool for around an hour, and she doubted that her sister would wait around that long — Lydia had probably thought that Lexi ditched her for Stiles, and Lexi knew that she would be angry when she walked into her room. And she was right, Lydia was sitting on her vanity, applying some lipgloss in the mirror when Lexi walked in, sweating from how fast she had gotten here and how fast she had climbed up the stairs to her sisters room. "Lyds! I can explain.." Lexi began to say, only for Lydia to interrupt her, snapping her lipgloss shut and turning in her chair to face her twin sister.

"You know, you've changed since you've started hanging out with Biles." Lydia said, Lexi having to refrain from correcting her on Stiles' name as it just wasn't the time; she didn't blame Lydia for being annoyed at her, she would, too, if she had been crying and Lydia just ran off. Because no matter how much Lydia annoyed Lexi at times, she was always there for her when she needed it, "I needed you, and you weren't there. You're too busy with your new friends to pay attention to me." She told Lexi, a sad look on her face as she was genuinely upset with her twin — she may be hard on Lexi, but she had always been there for her when she needed it, and she wasn't for her, it hurt.

"Lyds, I'm sorry. I got caught up with Stiles, I don't know what else to say." Lexi apologised, knowing that she couldn't tell Lydia what actually happened with the Kanima, because that's what Derek told them it was; consider Lexi officially freaked out of her mind about it.

"Exactly. Leave me alone." Lydia told Lexi, not bothering to give her the time of day as she spun back around in her chair and started to finish her makeup for the date she had planned last minute to get her mind off of things, since her sister was too busy with her own boyfriend to help her out.

"Lyds, please. Don't be like that, I said I was sorry." Lexi pleaded, staying by her door and praying that Lydia would turn around and forgive her, but she didn't, and Lexi didn't even blame her. She would be annoyed, too, and she didn't have a leg to stand on — since Scott had asked her, Lexi wasn't allowed to tell Lydia about the supernatural in town, since Lydia clearly wasn't anything supernatural from the bite, she was just rare from surviving it. Deaton was still trying to figure out what Lexi was, and she needed to remember to stop by and talk to him about it all, but with this lizard on the loose, it was hard to remember or find the time to do so. "Lydia." She repeated, hoping that Lydia would turn around, but when she didn't, Lexi sighed in defeat, eventually leaving her sisters room, knowing that she ruined everything.

Lexi had been in a foul mood since Lydia had blanked her and not forgiven her for leaving her crying in the parking lot, and the girl didn't blame her one bit, but it didn't hurt any less when her sister ignored her at school and even in their own house, like she wasn't even there, like she didn't exist.. To make it even worse, Isaac was branded innocent due to Jackson's talk with the sheriff, so now he was back in school, with Erica and Boyd, and the girls mood just decreased at the sight of them all. As she sat in Coach's class in a seat in front of Lydia, the girl kept glancing forwards at Scott and Stiles, who were talking with Jackson in hushed voices, but by the looks of it, the two of them looked incredibly concerned, and Lexi wanted to know what the hell was being said. But instead, she took notes on the lesson, pretending that she wasn't interested in what was being said as Jackson had looked back at her; if she wanted to get Lydia to forgive her, she was going to try her hardest to pay her all of the attention instead of Stiles, and almost it might sound a bit harsh, Lexi really didn't want Lydia hating her.

Lexi tried giving Lydia a smile when the girl stood up to write the answer on the board, but Lydia completely blanked her, pretending she wasn't even there as she headed up front in what seemed to be some sort of daze. When she watched this happen, Lydia felt a throbbing in her head, feeling like a migraine was coming on and it wasn't a nice feeling, but when she looked up, she saw Lydia, frozen at the front of the class, tears streaming down her face as she looked like she was seeing some sort of ghost — Lexi didn't think twice before rushing up to the front of the classroom, ignoring the looks from the other students as she stood in front of her sister, trying to snap her out of whatever state she was in. "Lydia?" She whispered, waving a hand in front of her face as she tried to get her attention, the girl not snapping out of it.

"Lydia!" Coach spoke a bit louder, finally snapping Lydia out of her crazed state as she looked at her sister in shock, breathing heavily as she tried not to sob. "Does anyone else want to try answering? In English?" He asked the class, as the two girls faced the board in confusion, Lexi having no idea why Lydia had written that, and it seemed that Lydia had no idea, either.

"Okay, Lyds. Go to the bathroom, I'll meet you in there with our stuff." Lexi whispered to Lydia, who nodded, still looking off into space as she then walked out, not looking back at the class as she left. Lexi turned and gave the Coach a look, to which he nodded, allowing the girl to rush to their seats and grab their things, rushing back off again to meet up with Lydia, not glancing back at Stiles no matter how hard he tried to get her attention. Something was going on with Lydia, they just had to figure out what..

Going to their next lesson like nothing had happened with their previous one, felt ridiculous, and no matter how much Lexi had begged Lydia to take the rest of the day off with her, she refused, and pretended that nothing had happened and like she didn't have a crazy episode just twenty minutes before. Lexi had no clue what just happened to Lydia, but during it, she had the worst migraine possible, and she wasn't even able to look up until Lydia had frozen in her spot at the front of the room with tears streaming down her face; she wanted to help, she did, but she didn't know how, and it hurt that she wasn't able to help her own sister.
As she walked into the classroom and took her usual seat, Lydia didn't even look back at het, still annoyed about the incident the other night, and Lexi didn't really know what to do. But, when Scott and Stiles walked in, looking back at Erica and Isaac in panic, they all raced to take the seat next to Lydia, and when Scott and Stiles had beaten them and sat down, Isaac decided to steal her partners seat and sit next to her, causing the girl to sigh in annoyance and roll her eyes — she had only spoken with Isaac a few times, but that was before Derek had turned him, and now, he was just a huge dick, and Lexi didn't like him.

Stiles and Scott both looked back at Lexi with wide eyes, having not expected Isaac to take a seat next to her, as the girl gave them a questioning look as to ask what the hell was their problem, when Scott inclined his head towards Isaac and then Erica, a knowing look in his eyes as he then shook his head towards Lydia. Lexi quickly put two and two together, knowing that the werewolves wanted to do something to Lydia, but she didn't know what; she didn't want to risk them getting near them, though, so the girl stiffened when she felt Isaac turn his head towards her. "So, you and Stilinksi, huh? Never would've thought." Isaac asked her, shaking his head in amusement as Lexi tried to ignore him, looking at the teacher as Stiles kept looking back at the two of them.

"Shouldn't you be in jail?" Lexi quipped, turning to face him with a glare — she didn't like that he was planning to do something with her sister, and she definitely didn't like the look he was giving her, either.

Isaac smiled sweetly, "I always liked you, Lexi. Too bad you never gave anyone a chance unless they were on the lacrosse team." He said, slightly spite heard in his tone as the girl raised a brow at him, "You never really noticed me before, but I bet you are, now, huh?" Isaac continued, chuckling to himself at the look on Lexi's face, the boy clearly bugging her.

"Leave. Lydia. Alone." Is all Lexi said, sneering at him as he just smiled at her sweetly again, not taking her words to heart.

The girl was just glad when the teacher finally called for the partners to carry on to the next table, the girl not moving as Isaac moved to the one in front of her, Lexi glaring at his back as Stiles came and joined Lexi on her table. "What did he say to you?" Stiles asked her, nervous about the looks Isaac was giving the girl — everything about Isaac was better than him, what's to stop a girl like Lexi going for him? She was amazing compared to him, he didn't think that he had a chance.

"He told me he liked me, but it's not like I care." Lexi whispered, glaring at Isaac's back every time she was able to look away from the work in front of them. "Why is he here? Shouldn't he be arrested by now? What's going on?" She asked Stiles, who was about to reply, only for the bell to sound again, indicating that everyone must move to their next partner again, the girl sighing in annoyance as she watched Stiles slowly walk off, annoyed that he couldn't talk to Lexi any longer.

Scott rushed next to Lydia next, not letting Isaac or Erica get to her as Lexi stayed in her spot, feeling someone sit next to her. "They want to do something to Lydia. They wouldn't do it in public, would they?" Allison asked her friend as she sat down, both of the girls keeping their eye on Lydia.

"I wouldn't put it past them, Ali." Lexi sighed, getting back to work again as she didn't have to worry about her sister right now, not with Scott sitting next to her. She knew that Derek would stop at nothing to figure out who this Kanima was, but Lexi was sure that he would do something in public to her sister — Lexi wasn't the Kanima, she couldn't be, she had looked into the eyes of that lizard shit, and she was positive that it wasn't her sister. When she looked up at Stiles, he was now next to Isaac, who was telling him about the time he had actually asked Lexi out, not that the girl remembered that; he was telling Stiles that sooner or later, Lexi would realise what a loser he was, and she would dump him for someone better, and if Lexi heard what he was saying, she would've punched him in the face, hard.
Another rotation, another partner, and now Lexi was sat next to Scott, who was also keeping his eyes locked onto Lydia and Isaac as they spoke at the front of the classroom, "She isn't the Kanima, Scott. I know she isn't, I looked into the eyes of that thing, and it's not my sister, no matter what Derek finds." She told him, wanting to let him know that she was positive it wasn't Lydia.

"Even if it is, Lex. I won't let them do anything to Lydia. You have my word." Scott told her truthfully, knowing that it could possibly well be Lydia, he just didn't want to admit that in front of Lexi, knowing how the girl felt about this whole thing. The girl next to him carried on making the solution as he kept his eyes on Lydia, letting Lexi know what was going on with them both — the whole situation was bizarre, and Lexi didn't know what to think about it; they wouldn't kill Lydia in broad daylight, would they?

"If you've catalysed the reaction correctly." The teacher began, when the timer was finally up, "You should now be looking at a crystal." He said, as Lexi lifted the crystal up in her clamps, the girl showing it to Scott with a look, noticing that no one else in the classroom had managed to make a crystal. "Now, for the part of that last experiment that I'm sure you'll all enjoy. You can eat it." The teacher carried on, Lexi knowing that she had no problem with eating her crystal, since she had done it all correctly.

But that was the problem, Scott suddenly sprung up from his chair, "Lydia!" He shouted, knowing that he couldn't let her eat it, but when it touched her lips anyway, the boy grunted in defeat, Lexi, Stiles, Scott, Allison, Isaac and Erica now looking at Lydia with realisation. She was the Kanima.
