LEXI DIDN'T EXACTLY HAVE plans to go to the lacrosse game tonight, but when Stiles had informed her that he needed her help in order to get the Bestiary from Allison's grandpa's office, the girl gathered she didn't really have a choice but to catch a ride with Lydia and pretend she wanted to watch Jackson play the game, considering that Stiles was on the bench almost every single night. But, Lydia told Lexi that she would meet her on the bleachers, and Lexi hadn't seen her since she had dropped her off in the parking lot — as much as Lexi wanted to go looking for her sister, she needed to stay with Stiles and wait for Allison to hand over the keys to her grandpas office. Lexi couldn't imagine planning all of this out for Allison not being able to get the key, she just hoped it would all work out in the end; she couldn't even concentrate on the game itself, or Stiles for that matter, all she could watch, was Allison, waiting for the girl to sneak his key off of the old man. It was painful, waiting, Lexi felt like hours were flying by as she waited, but the girl knew that's what she had to do.
However, when she would look up at the game going on, Beacon Hills were doing terrible, especially for being home, it made Lexi cringe, seeing the Beacon Hills boys being shoved and thrown around by the Beavers. Even Scott wasn't doing as well as he usually was, the boy was great at the game, winning almost every single game he was in, but today, he was doing terrible, and it was hard to watch from the stands. It was a shame, too, because his mom was here to watch him play, and it just made Lexi feel awful for him, as she knew he was trying to be fair during these games, but it wasn't exactly working out for him tonight. The girl was actually glad when Allison had sent her the go ahead text to walk by and take the key — she wasn't exactly happy about going near her grandpa, considering that he and Allison's dad had sent a hunting party out for her and Lydia to kill them not that long ago, but if she had Stiles by her side, she knew that everything would be okay.
Lexi gave Stiles a tap on his shoulder when she had received the text, the boy nodding instantly and following her to the side of the stands, where Allison was dangling a key from her fingers, away from sight so her grandpa couldn't see. The girl took the key from her friends hands, not even looking up as Stiles draped his arm around her shoulders, making it look like the two were headed off elsewhere to make out or something; Lexi felt nervous, breaking into the principles office, whom was also the man who had attempted to kill her and her sister, it wasn't exactly something she wanted to be doing, but they all needed that book, especially since Lexi herself might be in it, and an explanation on what she was and why it was happening to her since getting the bite from Peter.
The two walked hand in hand around the back of the school towards the entrance, before Lexi instantly stopped at the sight of a red head still sat in the car she came in, her sister. "One second, Stiles." Lexi mumbled, giving Stiles a small smile, before she let his hand drop and jogged over to the car. "Lyds?" She asked, tapping on the window gently.
Lydia rolled up the window, trying to hide her face from her sister, "Just go away, Lex." The girl groaned in annoyance, not wanting her sister to see her crying yet again.
"Lyds, come on." Lexi sighed, not moving away from the window as she peered down at her sister with a longing look, "What's wrong?" She asked, not knowing why she was crying again; she had a feeling it had something to do with Jackson, and if it was, Lexi was sure that she was going to kick his arse.
"I don't need you seeing me cry, Lex." Lydia told her sister, as Lexi couldn't help but roll her eyes at the girl.
"I don't care how you look, Lyds. What's wrong? You can tell me, you know, I'm your sister." Lexi continued, not giving up on her sister, no matter what she said or did.
"You're gonna think I'm crazy." Lydia finally admitted, looking down at her hands as she picked at her nail varnish. She knew that if she admitted to her sister what she was going through, Lexi would find her crazy, and she couldn't handle anyone looking at her like that, more or less her own family.
"Nothing you say could make me think you're crazy." Lexi told the girl truthfully, shaking her head at her sister. After everything that had been going on lately, nothing Lydia could say would make her believe that the girl was crazy. When the girl began to talk again, cheering was heard in the background, and Stiles quickly appeared behind her, making her realise that they had to be quick with getting into Allison's grandpa's office and grabbing the book before the game ended. "Uh.." The girl stuttered, realising that they didn't really have much time to get the book, "I have to go and do something with Stiles. But I promise you, I'll come back in like, ten minutes, max." Lexi explained, feeling immense guilt from the moment in which Lydia's face fell. It was the one time in which Lydia was going to open up, and Lexi ruined it by having to grab the book; when she looked back at Stiles, the boy gave her a saddening look, knowing that they had to go and get the book now before the lacrosse game ended.
Lexi groaned in annoyance, looking back at Lydia one last time before rushing after Stiles, a feeling of guilt in her stomach as Stiles pulled her along — he didn't feel any better, he felt awful that Lexi had to leave Lydia like that as he knew the girl was going through something. Lexi had been talking to Stiles a lot lately about what Lydia was going through, and he just felt awful. "She'll talk to you later, right?" He asked her, as they entered the office and instantly began searching around for the book, looking anywhere in which the old man would stash it.
Lexi sighed at Stiles' question, "I don't think so. Lydia doesn't exactly talk a lot." She told the boy, knowing for sure that later, Lydia would pretend that the moment in the car didn't even happen, and it sucked, because Lexi would have loved to find out what was happening to the girl. "The second I'll bring it up again, Lydia'll just pretend nothing happened and that I didn't see anything." The girl explained, as she sifted through the bookshelf.
Stiles sighed, "I'm sorry." He apologised, knowing that if he didn't interrupt and allow Lexi to talk with Lydia, she would have found out what was wrong with Lydia. As the boy shuffled through the drawers in the desk, he grunted, "The book isn't here." He said, pulling out his phone.
"Is Allison sure it's even in here?" Lexi asked, looking back at Stiles with an unsure look on her face, as the boy text Allison that it wasn't here. They had searched every piece of this office, yet they couldn't find anything, unless their was a secret compartment somewhere.. "Do you think.." The girl began to ask, when she stopped, stepping back towards Stiles when she saw Erica walk into the room, the girl she knew was a werewolf. Lexi had seen Erica around before the girl had been bitten, and she had always been nice to her in classes or in the hallways, but lately, she had been receiving dirty looks from the blonde girl, and Lexi would be lying if she said it didn't freak her out a little bit, so seeing her in the office with Stiles, didn't make her feel great.
"Hello Stiles." Erica spoke up, a bright smile on her face as she looked at the boy, Lexi noticing the look immediately, the werewolf then turned to Lexi, "Lexi." She greeted, a small nod as she straight up glared at the poor girl.
Before either of them could say anything back, Erica grabbed Lexi's arm, "Hey, let go of her!" Stiles shouted, instantly following after them as Erica dragged Lexi along, the red head grunting in annoyance, not retaliating as she knew that Erica could do much worse. When it appeared that Erica was dragging Lexi to the swimming pool, the two were even more confused than they once were, but the second they saw Derek standing there, they knew what this was all about.
"You gotta be kidding me." Lexi moaned, rolling her eyes at the sight of Derek, not wanting anything to do with the new alpha or Erica as she stood next to him, having let go of Lexi and left her next to Stiles.
"Let's cut to the chase. What did you two see at the mechanic's garage?" Derek asked them, not even greeting the two teenagers as Erica dragged the redhead in, Stiles following closely behind.
Lexi looked towards Stiles with a knowing look, as the boy also rolled his eyes at Derek, "Uh.. Several alarming EPA violations that I'm seriously considering reporting." The boy spoke up, his sarcasm coming through yet again, but Derek nor Erica looked pleased, the man piercing through the basketball with his claws, "Holy God!" Stiles gasped, as Lexi cringed, now not knowing what to say.
"Okay, look. We barely got a look at the thing, we were a bit preoccupied with being paralysed from the head down." Lexi spoke up over Stiles, holding her hand up to him to indicate the boy to be quiet and not annoy Derek any further.
Stiles carried on where she was heading, "All right, the thing was pretty slick-looking. Um.." He began to explain, even though he barely knew what the thing looked like, he didn't get a good look. "Skin was dark. Kind of patterned. I think I actually saw scales." Stiles explained, trying his hardest to explain the creature.
"Kind of like a lizard. Like a huge lizard." Lexi added, as Stiles nodded frantically, "Is that enough?" She asked, knowing that not much more could be said about the thing. "Because we should really get back.." She carried on, motioning her head to the side.
When Derek didn't say anything to the girls question, Stiles groaned in annoyance, "Okay, it's eyes.. They were yellowish and slitted. It has a lot of teeth, oh, and it's got a tail, too.. Are we good?" He asked, hoping to get this appearance over and done with.
Lexi saw Derek and Erica look above her and Stiles with wide eyes, only causing the girl to inch closer to Stiles, afraid of what was above them, and too scared to look up and follow their eyeline; that thing had nearly killed her and Stiles, and did kill some over guy. "What? Have you seen it?" Stiles asked, not noticing the atmosphere in the room change.
"It's not above us, is it?" Lexi asked, almost pleading the two werewolves in front of her. She couldn't deal with that lizard thing again, she just couldn't..
The girl slowly turned around to look at the lizard, as well as Stiles, whoms eyes widened at the sight of the creature in front of them. Instantly, the boy reached out and pulled Lexi behind his back, pulling her to stand behind Derek and Erica, not wanting the lizard to come near them. Derek and Erica bared their teeth and claws at the lizard, as Lexi and Stiles kept moving back when a fight broke out, the two not wanting to be paralysed again. All Lexi could think about was getting killed, and Lydia waiting for her in the car for ages, she couldn't imagine what that would do to the girl — Stiles on the other hand, was just purely freaked out, not only did they have Derek and Erica here, two people who hated them, but also the huge lizard; they were definitely going to die. Stiles held his arm out in front of Lexi as Erica was thrown to the side like a rag doll, the situation dawning on the two humans that they might just die tonight, if Erica and Derek couldn't fight against this lizard, how were they going to do so?
"Run!" Derek instructed the two teenagers, shoving them back.
But as he did so, the lizard came up behind him and slashed the back of the alphas neck with his claws, Derek instantly widening his eyes in shock as he felt an effect in his body, one that was causing him to loose the feeling in his legs. "Shit." Lexi cursed, knowing exactly what that meant — Derek was going to be paralysed, "We're gonna die." She muttered, as Stiles reached out to grab Derek and stop the man from falling flat on his face.
Lexi's face fell when she realised her body was having the same effect as the other night with the lizard, when Stiles had been slit — even though the girl hadn't been touched by the lizards claws, she felt the effects of paralysis just as much if she would have been cut. Taking Derek's other arm, the girl tried to keep him upright as she kept up with Stiles, the boy asking where the hell the lizard was, but Lexi couldn't concentrate, not when she felt her legs giving up, and her fingers slowly loosing feeling. "Call Scott!" Derek yelled, as Stiles fumbled with his phone, dropping it on the floor and dropping Derek in the process, Lexi falling like a plank on the ground as her body finally gave in to the paralysis.
"Did you get scratched?" Stiles asked in confusion, looking between the girl and Derek's falling body in the swimming pool as he didn't know who to save first. He couldn't leave Lexi out here alone with that lizard thing, yet he couldn't let Derek drown..
"No, I didn't! Get Derek!" Lexi shouted at him, not knowing why the boy was hesitating between herself and the older man when he was literally drowning at this second. When Stiles looked between her and where Derek had fallen again, Lexi grunted, "Stiles, he's drowning, go and get him!" She instructed the boy, who eventually nodded and dived into the water after Derek. Lexi simply watched as the boy dived into the water to get the alpha, before her eyes searched the room for the lizard thing, not seeing it anywhere, but before she could say anything on the matter, Stiles' head finally popped up above the water, with Derek in tow, "I don't see it anywhere!" The girl called out to Stiles and Derek, the boy looking around frantically for the lizard.
"Maybe it took off." Stiles suggested, until a loud hissing echoed throughout the large room.
"Yeah, I don't think it did." Lexi said, as an eerie silence spread throughout the room, the girl now just realising she was on her own whilst the other two were in the pool. She couldn't even concentrate on the bickering happening between Derek and Stiles as the girl felt goosebumps spread around her body, afraid that the lizard would come near her, but when they started swimming towards Lexi, the girl quickly put a stop to that, seeing a shadow in the corner of her eye, "Wait, guys, it's over there!" She told the two, frantically. The thing was crawling across from her, hissing and watching them all with a creepy look, and it was headed straight for them, watching.
"What's it waiting for?" Stiles asked, as they all watched the lizard crawl around. Lexi held her breathe as the lizard walked towards her, looking at her in the eyes before it headed to the water, placing its hand in before it hissed, backing away as quickly as it walked over there. It was afraid of the water. "I don't think it can swim." Stiles said, looking at the lizard in confusion.
"Okay, Stiles. My phone is in my back pocket, you could quickly swim over and grab it." Lexi told Stiles, knowing that they needed Scott, since Erica was knocked out and Derek was paralysed from the neck down; getting Scott was the only option they had.
"And what about me?" Derek asked the red head, not knowing how she could have forgotten that he couldn't move. Lexi sighed, knowing that Stiles was going to have to let him go for a few seconds whilst he swam over and grabbed her phone to ring Scott. Derek noticed this look, his eyes widening, "No, no way." He refused, he would be shaking his head if he could.
"What? You don't trust me?" Stiles asked in offence.
"Yup. You don't trust me. I don't trust you." Derek told him, "But you need me to fight that thing off, which is why you're not letting me go. Nothing else." He said, knowing that Stiles would have let him go if there wasn't a murdering lizard in the same room as them.
Stiles didn't say anything for a few seconds, looking between Derek and Lexi as he quickly came to a decision, dropping Derek into the water as he shouted in protest, quickly falling down to the bottom of the pool. He mumbled to himself as he quickly swam over to Lexi, not wasting any time as he climbed out of the pool and made his way towards her. But he hesitated, noticing where the phone was, not wanting to make her uncomfortable by grabbing that part of her — "Uh.." He muttered, as Lexi rolled her eyes at him; it was nice that he was being considerate, but they didn't have enough time for that.
"Stiles there's no time, roll me over and grab the phone." Lexi told him, as Stiles did exactly that, careful rolling the girl over as he then searched in her back pocket for the cell phone. His cheeks blushed a bright red as he unlocked the phone, Lexi watching in anticipation as he called Scott, but before he could call the number, the lizard came crawling over, "Stiles!" Lexi called, the boy looking up and quickly jumping back into the water, the lizard barely giving Lexi the time of day as he moved away again, noticing that Stiles had jumped back into the pool with Derek. The girl watched as Stiles grunted in annoyance, Scott having hung up in two seconds within answering the phone..
"He hung up." Stiles said, pressing in Scott's number again before the phone eventually went to answer phone, the boy having turned his phone off so Stiles couldn't ring again.
"Oh my god." Lexi muttered.
She was going to kill him.
