'ice pick'

THE MORE DAYS PASSED, and the more Lexi worried for Jackson and what the boy might be going through, even just walking past him in the hallway, the girl felt sadness and fear irradiate from him — she didn't know what was happening to her and what she was going through, to receive the ability to feel this, but she didn't like it, she hated being able to feel what other people were feeling, it was too much to handle. Scott promised that he would ask Deaton about what she was going through the next time he had work, after he had figured out who Derek was going to turn into a werewolf next, because he was going to pick someone, and after that was all complete, Deaton would be able to have a look at her and figure out what was wrong with her and how to fix her. Lexie couldn't keep this up, it was exhausting, she was surprised no one had commented on the fact she would come into school with dark circles under her eyes from the lack of sleep she was getting; Stiles had asked countless times how he could help her, but in reality, nothing could really help, she just needed Deaton.
Lexi walked down the corridor as she tried to block out the feelings forcing themselves on her, but the second she stopped at her locker, she felt someone head up to her, that person being Jackson, the very boy she had her thoughts on. "Do you know?" Jackson asked Lexi, not even bothering with a 'hello', or 'how have you been since I broke your sisters heart?'.
The red head glanced back at him with a raised brow in confusion, "Do I know what?" Lexi asked him, unsure of what he means — he didn't look great, he looked tired, stressed out, run down. Just from looking up at him, Lexi could feel the anger irradiating from him, and she couldn't help but step back slightly, not liking how close he was to her and how he was looking at her. Unknown to Lexi, he had just made Lydia cry in the corridor just five minutes ago..
Jackson seemed to shift at the look on her face, fear, of him, he straightened up, now feeling bad that he had scared the girl whom had always tried her hardest to make him a better person. "Jackson, are you okay?" She asked, peering up at him in sympathy, knowing that he was clearly going through something; she wanted to find out what it was and help.
Jackson shook his head at the girl, "I'm fine." He told her, running a hand down his face in stress when he realised what he had just done to Lydia, "You should go and check on Lyd. I yelled at her in front of everyone." The boy admitted, wanting Lexi to go and check on his ex-girlfriend — he had lashed out at her in thoughts that she had taken away his ability to become a werewolf, and he now realised that he shouldn't have.
Lexi sighed, breathing out through her nose as she closed her eyes for just a second, "You make it hard for me to help you, Jackson." She told her old friend. The two used to be close, she didn't use to dislike him like she did today, he had changed into someone she didn't even know anymore, and she just wanted nothing but to help him through it all.
"I don't deserve your help." Jackson shook his head at her, "I don't deserve anyone's help." He finished, and just like that, he stalked away, leaving Lexi to stare at his fleeting figure in pure confusion. She knew she had to force out of Scott whatever he was hiding about Jackson, because if he had started to take his anger out on Lydia, then it concerned her, too.
Lexi didn't think twice before heading to the location in which Lydia went to cry — the first floor girls bathroom; she had quickly shut her locker door, shoving her book inside, before rushing off towards that location. It only took around a minute to get there, having rushed all the way there, before she saw her twin standing in front of the trophy case, crying. "Lydia?" Lexi called out in an instant, rushing towards the girl as she looked at a certain trophy in the clear case, looking like she was having some sort of panic attack, "Lyds, what's wrong?" She asked, rushing up to the girl as she quickly pulled her in for a hug. Lexi was glad no one was around, or Lydia would have just shoved her straight off, not wanting to look vulnerable in front of the other students, all being apart of her 'become popular' scheme.
Lydia immediately came up with a lie as to why she had been crying at the trophy case, having always been great at lying. "Jackson yelled at me in front of everyone." She mumbled into her sisters shoulder, hiding her face as she found comfort in the girls embrace.
Lexi regretted not punching Jackson in the face just now, rolling her eyes, "You shouldn't listen to him anymore, Lyds. He's a complete jerk, he doesn't deserve you." She told her sister, saying all of the things you tell a girl when their boyfriend breaks up with them. "I wouldn't take any notice to him, anyway. He's going through something weird right now, you should stay away." Lexi explained, trying to give her sister a hint that he may be aggressive towards her — Lydia would never stay away from Jackson, though, she loved him too much.
Lydia sighed, knowing that what her sister was saying was true; she could do so much better, and get any boy she wanted in this school. With that on her mind, the girl pulled away from her sisters hug, shaking her head as she pulled out a tissue from her bag and patted the area underneath her eyes, covering up the fact she had just been crying her eyes out, "I can do better." She repeated, planting a smile on her face. But I don't want to. She wanted to say, the words echoing in her brain. "Let's go and touch up. Looks like you need to, too. You look like you haven't slept in a week." Lydia chuckled, linking her arm around Lexie's as the girl smiled that her sister was back to normal again, just like a switch had been flicked in her mind.
Lexi wanted nothing but to tell her sister everything, to actually talk to someone instead of keeping it all in; she had Scott and Stiles, sure, but they just weren't her sister. She missed her.
Walking into the cafeteria later on after skipping a lesson with Lydia felt strange, it felt like everyone's eyes were on the twins — well, technically they were; thanks to Lydia's schemes, the two were the most popular girls at the school, and it would always be that way, even if Lexi didn't exactly love it. The girls eyes instantly found Scott and Stiles sitting at a table, Stiles holding a set of keys in his hands and Scott smiling, and just like that, Lexi began to drag Lydia to the table, for the first time in forever, not rolling her eyes as she did so. Lydia was warming up to Stiles, the boy made her sister happy, and that's all she could actually ever ask for — even if he wasn't the most popular boy in school or actually played for the team instead of sitting on the bench all season, he made Lexi happy, and she was beginning to realise that maybe, popularity wasn't everything.
"Hey boys." Lexi spoke up as she practically skipped towards her friend and.. Whatever she called Stiles. She wouldn't say the two were dating, or even seeing each other at the moment, since she had only really kissed him a few times, but the two knew that they liked each other like that; they were both just too awkward to put a name to it.
Stiles' face instantly lit up at the sight of Lexi, smiling at the girl as she slid into the seat besides them, Lydia standing as she didn't know if she wanted to sit with them as of yet. But, just before anyone could say anything else, everyone in the halls attention turned to the entrance of the cafeteria, Lexi and Lydia doing the same thing, seeing something they didn't think they would ever witness in their school years..
Erica, looking hot.
The girl was wearing a short skirt with a white vest and a leather jacket, with some high heels to kick it all off, and Lexi's mouth dropped agape at the sight of the ill girl, not believing her eyes. Just yesterday, she had warned Scott about the girl falling off of the rock climbing wall and dying, but today, she was like a brand new person, like magic. Lexi's mouth shut as she furrowed her brows at the sight of Erica eating someone's apple, all of the boys eyes on the girl instead of Lydia, like they usually were, and that was just angering the popular girl. "What the holy hell is that?" Lydia asked, leaning on the table as she glared at Erica, hating that all of the attention was on the girl instead of her.
"It's Erica." Scott spoke up, in just as much shock as everyone else.
Lexi was pleased to see that Stiles wasn't gawping at her like the rest of the boys in the cafeteria, instead, more watching in confusion as he wondered how that had happened, it made the girl feel a little better that he actually did like her. When Scott shot up from his seat, Stiles knew that he had to follow, "I'll be right back." He told the girl he liked, pressing a quick kiss to the side of her face as she didn't even get the chance to reply, the boy rushing off after Scott and Erica. She was going to make sure he explained later..
"We have to do something about that." Lydia complained, looking at where Erica had disappeared in anger, grabbing her sisters arm and pulling her up, "Come on." She said, pulling her away with her in attempt to go and find out how that had just happened.
Lexi sighed, following behind as she technically had no other choice — she just wanted the day to be over with.
——
Lexi couldn't help but smile widely at Stiles as he asked her to go on a double date with him, "I would love to." The girl instantly replied, not knowing why she would deny his offer, especially when he had spent so long trying to ask her, stuttering and blushing a bright red as he feared she would say no. "But.." The girl added, making Stiles' face drop, "Can Lydia tag along? She's had a rough day with Jackson and I don't exactly want to leave her home alone since our mom is out for the night and.." She began to ask Stiles, rambling as she felt bad asking for her sister to tag along, but she just couldn't leave Lydia when she was going through such a hard time with Jackson.
Stiles let out a sigh of relief, as he thought she was going to say she couldn't come, he quickly nodded, "Of course, we were going to invite her anyway, Alison suggested it, too." He explained, Lexi appreciating that her friends thought about Lydia coming, too.
Lexi smiled sheepishly, "Are you sure you don't mind?" She asked, feeling bad that she may have ruined Stiles' plan in having a nice evening with her, since she knew that Lydia would obviously try and cut in tonight.
Stiles shook his head, "No one minds. We don't want Lydia being left out." He confirmed. It's not that Stiles didn't like Lydia, he just didn't like the fact that the girl always tried to keep her sister away from him, like he wasn't worthy for her or something; he just wished the girl would give him a chance.
Lexi pulled Stiles in for a hug, "Thankyou. Really." She said, as she felt Stiles own hands wrap around her, almost like he was breathing into their hug, nothing could ruin this moment for him, unless..
"Lex, we're going!" Lydia called out through the parking lot, Stiles sighing as the girl had ruined his moment yet again, it was like she had some sort of vendetta against him..
Lexi laughed at Stiles face when she pulled away, before she grabbed his face and pulled him towards her, knowing that he needed a well deserved kiss for how nice and helpful he was being for her lately. Stiles was shocked at first, his eyes flying open at the sudden movement, but when the kiss started, he leaned into it like it was second nature for him, like the two of them were always meant to be; it was a feeling that Stiles never wanted to forget. Lydia rolled her eyes from where she was standing by the car as she watched her sister smooch with Stiles, just wanting to get home, but she knew that she shouldn't step in, her sister seemed to be down lately, and Stiles seemed to fix that whenever he was around her..
People stared and boys glared at the two kissing by the school entrance, some shocked and others jealous of the boy kissing the popular girl, but Lexi and Stiles paid no attention as his hand rested on the side of her face, the girl smiling into the kiss as they felt like the only two people in the world, forgetting that Lydia was waiting for Lexi by her car. Forgetting about every single problem they had as of now. Lexi's pain went away briefly, the girl unable to feel terrible emotions when she was in Stiles' touch, almost as if he was a shield for her, and she never wanted the moment to end.
The kiss lasted longer than they had both anticipated, that when they eventually pulled away, people had grown bored of watching them and had carried on with their tasks of getting home — the two teenagers wearing matching smiles on their faces as they had finally gone through with their need to kiss, the tension having taken over. "I'll see you later, then?" She asked, as Stiles had offered to pick her up and take her to the ice rink.
Stiles nodded, unable to speak as the girl gave him one last sheepish smile before rushing off to Lydia, the two sisters talking about something, before getting in their car, Stiles watching the whole time as the love of his life drove off.
Lexi had been anticipating her date with Stiles all evening, having gotten ready earlier than she was supposed too, and practically waiting around the house for an hour, doing nothing as she waited for Stiles to pick her up. Lydia had opted she drove herself so she didn't get in the way of the pairs date, not like she had already.. The car journey had been spent with Lexi describing to Stiles what had been going down with her, and the fact she thought it had something to do with Peter Hale's bite. Stiles just couldn't understand why she wasn't a werewolf, it was a mystery to not only him, but Scott, too, who couldn't figure it out; he just hoped that Scott had asked Deaton about it when he was at work earlier on in the evening.
"We'll figure something out, Lex. We'll find out what it is." Stiles promised Lexi as he opened her door and helped her out of the jeep.
"Find out what what is?" Lydia asked, having climbed out of her own car at the exact same time, overhearing what Stiles was saying.
"Chemistry homework." Lexi lied quickly, not thinking much about it as she grabbed Stiles' hand, the three beginning to walk up the stairs and to the building.
"Oh." Lydia answered, thinking that she would offer them help, but she couldn't really be bothered to, so she didn't bother.
Lexi sighed in relief when she got away with lying to her sister again, knowing that she couldn't keep it up much longer without the guilt eating her alive, besides, she didn't know if Lydia was suffering just like she was, so she didn't want to bring the girl into hell without a need too..
"God, it's cold in here." Lexi mumbled, as she tied up her shoes, shivering as she did so — the girl didn't think to wear something warm, and she was definitely not regretting it.
Stiles didn't think twice before unzipping his backpack and bringing out his orange shirt and holding it out to her with a smile on his face, "Here." He said, as the girl gratefully took the large shirt and draped it over herself, acting as a small dress.
Lexi accepted Stiles' help when he lifted her up, helping her walk down the stairs and towards the ice, "Okay, I'm saying this now so I don't look like a complete idiot. I've never done this before." She admitted, using Stiles' arm to keep herself upright as she slowly walked onto the ice, trying her hardest not to slip.
Stiles seemed shocked that she hadn't been ice skating since her family had so much money, but didn't comment on the fact as he held his hand out for her to take, "Don't worry, I won't let you fall." He said, as the girl gripped both of his hands in his own.
A loud thump could be heard in the background, Stiles and Lexi looking over to see Scott sprawled across the floor, "I'm okay!" He shouted, sensing the pair looking over at him.
When Lexi looked over at Lydia, seeing the girl doing spins, she rolled her eyes, "Show off!" She joked, Lydia sending her a wink as she skated around them, "Can you tell I'm not the talented twin?" The girl asked Stiles, who instantly shook his head at her.
"What're you talking about? You're talented." Stiles said, as the two skated side by side, the boy keeping her upright as they skated. For the first time in his life, he was actually good at something, and because of that, he was impressing the girl of his dreams, he couldn't be more happier than he was in this moment.
"I appreciate the lie, Stiles." Lexi laughed, the girl feeling like she had gotten the hang of skating, now being able to skate with just one hand held by Stiles.
"I'm not." Stiles denied, "I think you're the most talented person I know. You're amazing." He said, able to have the confidence to tell her as he wasn't looking at her as he did so, although he could feel her looking over at him.
Lexi opened her mouth to say something else, but the second she did, she felt her heart plummet into her stomach, with the single thought running through her mind.. Lydia.
And then the screaming began.
