My shaky legs make me walk to the entrance of the quite modern building, unfolding in front of my eyes. The feeling in my chest gets more prominent as I feel my heart banging in my ribcage. 'What am I doing? Where am I going?' The thought of me stepping in my new, University life and officially adulthood is enough to make me want to run back into my mum's embrace.
I take a deep breath. As I prepare myself to take a step forward, I hear a familiar voice calling my name. "Ione?" I snap my head to my left, only to see a well known head of blond hair, coming my way, while having a painfully wide smile on its face.
"What are you doing here?" Niall cheerfully asks. I smile at his excitement to see me here, and answer his question:
"I'll be studying here from now on." His eyes light up, even more. His happy persona and smiley face, make me wonder how can the weather be so dull today whilst Niall seems to walk around like a real life sunshine, with his beaming smile and overbearing happiness.
"What are you studying?"
"History." I grin at him but, his smile flattens.
"Yikes." He scrunches his nose and sticks his tongue out in disgust. My laugh rings in his ears and he lets his self, form a lopsided grin.
"What about you?" I ask as I make my way to the entrance.
"Sociology." He reveals proudly. He looks very happy with his decision.
"I'm also taking, English. My major is history."
"Really?" His smile returns and I nod. "Me too. We're probably going to be in the same class. Oh that would be wicke-- wait! What's your first class for today?"
I check the schedule in my hands. My eyes scan the expance of the printed paper ans its jumbled letters. I open my mouth to speak but as usually, beats me to it. "You have English." He almost shouts in my ear. I cringe at the high volume of his voice. "Me too." He smiles and almost jumps up and down. I shush him while laughing at his reaction.
We both head in the intimidating building, chatting and laughing at his jokes. He tells me about Jane and how much she misses him now that she's studying in Liverpool. I pat his shoulder sympathetically and nod, understanding how he feels. I miss Jane too.
Somehow I resist the urge to ask him how Harry's doing. I try to bury it deep down in my brain. In my imagination I'm standing with a couple of shovels in my arms, panting and trying desperately to keep his memory, buried deep down. Yet, that was almost sure that would distract me in general. And that's why I'm currently on the floor while on top of me is a quite macular male, body.
I hear the stranger groaning in pain. My back hurts. I arch it as I hear Niall frantically calling my name. Finally, the stranger gets up. He stretches his back and looks down at me. I can't say that he's not handsome. He's tall with dark brown hair, quite fit and with a bit of stubble. I shake my head to get rid of the thoughts clouding once again my mind and my whole interaction with the world.
"Here." He offers his hand. I willingly take it, even though my palms are a tad sweaty.
"I'm sorry." I say and I'm sure that my cheeks are painted red. I look around to find Niall but I see that he's already sitting on his desk, still keeping an eye on me as the protective friend he is.
"No. I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going." Yeah, like I was looking. I add mentally.
"No, need. I'm fine. It's fine."
"I want to apologise though."
"You already said 'sorry'. Didn't you?" I raise an eyebrow and he chuckles. His perfectly, pearly, white teeth, showing. I catch myself starring at the charming specimen in front of me.
"I want to properly apologise. Maybe going for a cup of tea after class?" My mouth hangs open, not quite knowing what to answer. I was surely not expecting this.
"Um...I-I actually can't, after class." I rub my palms together to relieve the tension. I don't know why I said that.
"Maybe for a drink at night?" He bites his lip, while smirking and I think I lost some of my balance. "I swear, I don't bite." He raises his arms in surrender. I laugh at his action. I look at him from the corner of my eye. Silently laughing.
"You don't even have my number." I tease him. His smile widens as he extends his hand.
"May I have your phone?" He politely asks. I hand him my device after I unlock it. He raises a brow at my wallpaper.
"Uh...it's my friend. It's my best friend." He nods, understanding the reason why a certain boy with soft mussed curls and bright eyes along with a very smiley and happy girl, happens to be the photograph you come face to face when you open my phone. I bow my head remembering the day we took that picture. I smile sweetly at the memory.
Suddenly I hear a beeping sound. He sent a message to himself. "Now we both have each other's numbers. I'll text you about tonight. Okay?"
"Of course." I nod. "I'm Ione by the way." I extend my hand for a handshake but instead I hear a deep chuckle.
"I know."
"Wha-how?"
"Your friend over there seemed to know no other word than your name when you fell." He explains and my lips crack a small smile. Of course. "I'm Colton, though."
"Got it." I smile. I see the professor approaching. I quickly stride to an empty seat next to my ever so cheerful friend and currently classmate. He looks at me with raised eyebrows and concerned expression.
"I might have gotten myself a date." I announce.
"That's great." He exclaims but his tone and face, don't say the same.

The cold raindrops fall hard on the concrete. The still young Autumn aura clings to my lungs along with the fresh smell of rain and wet orange leaves.
《Meet me outside the university at 10 o'clock. I'll be there ;)》That's what was sent on my phone three hours ago. I've been waiting in the rain for approximately an hour. I take a deep breath and decide to step out of the shelter that's been provided to me, in the entrance of the building that for some years from now on, will be my second home.
I take a step forward but I hear someone shouting. "No. Wait!" I turn my head to the right and see a shadow with an umbrella, running towards me. I raise my eyebrows.
"Colton?"
"Hey." He pants. He tries to catch his breath before speaking. His hand touching his chest and eyes closed in concentration. "Look I'm sorry I was late-"
"I thought you forgot that we were going out." I state but it comes out more like a question.
"No, no of course I didn't. I texted you didn't I?" I nod, still little dizzy from the violent turning of my head. "Look, let's go somewhere and I'll explain why I stood you up. Yeah?" His hopeful tone makes me nod in agreement. He takes my hand. My whole body becomes stiff. He quickly notices and lets it go.
Colton takes me to quaint pub somewhere in the hidden and energetic, London streets. It's quiet. An old man with a saxophone sits in the corner, passionately playing some jazz song.
"Shots?" Colton suggests.
"Of course." I smile. My fingers grasp the cold crystalline surface. I quickly bring the rim of the tiny glass to the tip of my lips. I swallow the transparent liquid, already feeling the buzz of the alcohol inside me, seeping in my pores.
"I'm sorry again. For being late, I mean."
"Nah, it's okay. No reason to cry over spilt milk."
"Are you sure?" He cautiously asks.
"Sure. But tell me. Why were you late?" I take another shot. And another.
"My sister needed me. You see she has a son. He's five years old and fatherless. The twat left my sister when he learned that she was pregnant." He takes a shot.
"Well, long story short, little Alex is very fond of me. I'm the closest thing he has to a father and he kind of needed me there." Another shot.
"Needed you?"
"Yeah, he has some breakdowns lately. He wants his father. He's just a kid. And I'm the only one who can calm him down." He shrugs. His eyes soften. My hand moves and coats his with sympathy.
"It's okay that you were late, then." He raises his head and looks at me while a small smile starts forming on his lips.

Sorry for not updating. School you see... but I'm a bit ill and stayed home so I decided instead of mopping around, bored out of my mind, to do something productive.
