"lies of omission"

CASSIE'S DAD WASN'T THRILLED ABOUT leaving her alone again, not since the last time he did so, the girl had been taken by those so called dread doctors and experimented on for a full day, with Stiles not telling him about it until the last minute, when it had been too late, and Theo had found his little girl and Liam instead. He had a go at Stiles that night as Cassie slept on the couch with Liam, he ordered that his son told him everything from now on, and if he had a plan that involved his daughter, Stiles had to come to him first and ask, otherwise he didn't want Cassie involved. To say he was angry, was an understatement; he hadn't been told what was going on with Cassie, and he hated that the girl had been put in so much danger without him knowing, for now on, he knew that he was hardly going to let the girl out of his sights unless she was at school, although for the past few days he had been coming in and making sure she was okay. Either the girl was amazing at keeping her pain and worried hidden, or she was doing a lot better now that the dread doctors were done with her, or at least, that's what everyone was hoping.

Although, as much as Cassie put up a front to everyone she knew, the girl wasn't okay — she was constantly having nightmares still, barely getting any sleep, and the girl felt like death walking. She knew that soon enough the dread doctors were going to come for her and treat her like they had with Zach and the others, and she couldn't stop it, either, but she was going to be damned if she let Scott use her as bait again, so the girl kept quiet. She acted like she was fine, and that she was completely healed now she was back home, and no one questioned her, not even Liam, as the girl had mastered her heart rate and keeping calm throughout the day; he thought that she was fine, since they had been rescued by Theo, the girl was having no problems, but that's just what he thought. The girl was suffering in silence, but she would rather that, then be used as bait and go back to that place with the doctors again and go through even more experimentations.. Call her stupid for not saying anything, but the girl was just scared.

School went on like normal, and just like she did at home, she completely ignored Stiles as well as Scott, unable to even look at them the same after they blatantly used her to get what they wanted, she was angry, and so was Liam. When the pack first lied to her, the girl forgave them within minutes, not wanting to upset any of them, but now she realised that she didn't have to worry about that anymore, because they clearly didn't care about her own feelings. Needless to say, Cassie was done with the pack. When she went back to school, she ignored them all, even Lydia, who had tried to talk to her on multiple occasions, she just couldn't look at the girl knowing that she had used her for bait — Cassie didn't think that any of them would do that to her, and it made her realise that maybe she didn't know the pack as well as she thought she did. The girl stuck like glue to Liam's side, and went on school like her life wasn't about to end, and she had been doing a pretty good job of it, too, since no one had noticed..

So, whilst her dad was out trying to hunt these dread doctors down, Cassie was attending school like a normal teenager, well, tried to. "I'll see you second period for History, okay?" Liam asked the girl as they stood behind the school in between the school busses, the boy pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear. Liam had been with the girl twenty-four seven since they had been rescued by Theo, sticking by her side every minute of the day unless they had different lessons, and he did notice that the girl wasn't doing as well as she was letting on, but just like the girl in question, he didn't want to tell his alpha, because he had the same worries that she did, that they would all just use her as bait again, and it didn't turn out well the last time, so what made them think it would work a second time? "Then lunch." He said, keeping up their routine of sticking together like they had been glued together, and it was just how they liked it.

"Then math." Cassie said, biting her lip to stop herself from chuckling at his actions — she loved seeing him so protective over her, as it showed her just how much he truly cared about her. She couldn't be more in love with him.

"Then we'll go home." Liam said, glancing down at the girls lips before she quickly leaned in and gave him a soft kiss, smiling into it before she pulled away.

"You know they only come out after dark." Cassie pointed out, knowing that she didn't exactly need his protection during the day, just the night time when they would come after her. Although she loved the attention she was getting from him, and the amount of time they were spending with each other, she didn't want him worrying about her so much and stressing himself out because of it. "You don't need to stay with me if you don't want to." She said, smiling even wider when he shook his head at her words.

"I want to." Liam said, knowing that he wouldn't want to be doing anything else, he loved spending time with her. "I love you." He said, as Cassie smiled even wider than she had been at his words.

"I love you too." She revealed again, the boy pulling her into a kiss, the girl leaning against the bus behind her as he pushed her gently against it, the kiss deepening between the two teenagers, the pair feeling like they were in their own little bubble, and it's just how they liked it. When they kissed, it felt like no one else in the world mattered, and they both forgot that Cassie was practically being hunted by these dread doctors to kill her.. But just like all dreams, this one had to end, when Cassie felt something drip onto her lips, clearly covering Liam's, too. She pulled away quickly, seeing a silver substance on Liam's lips from where they had been kissing, and feeling something trickle onto her top lip from her nose; she lifted her fingers, touching the substance and moving it back to see it for herself.
She was officially a failure.

When Cassie looked up at Liam, his eyes were widened in fear at what he was seeing, the girl he loved was bleeding a silver substance, the exact same substance that the failures would bleed just before dying from the dread doctors. "Cass.." He began to say, his heart breaking in two at the sight, before Cassie interrupted him, shaking her head quickly with pleading eyes.

"We can't tell them, Liam." Cassie pleaded, noticing the look on his face, although he was just as nervous about telling the pack what was going on with her, not exactly wanting to, he felt like he should. But there was no way he could go against Cassie like that, he would rather die than go against his word, and if the girl didn't want to be used as bait again, then she wasn't, he was going to make sure of it, "Please Liam, we can't." She added, placing both hands on either side of her boyfriends face and bringing his eyes up to meet her own, making him look at her and realise how serious she was about not telling Scott.

"Okay. Okay, we won't." Liam finally agreed, nodding his head as the girl released a sigh of relief, leaning her forehead against his chest, the boy instantly wrapping his arms around her and hugging her close. "We're gonna get you through this, okay? I promise you. We're not going down without a fight." He whispered, looking into the distance with a longing look, scared of what was going to happen next. Because he knew for a fact that he couldn't live without this girl, and he wasn't going to go down without his life, if it meant saving his girls..

During her lesson, Cassie heard sirens outside, the whole school going crazy over finding out what was happening, so when the bell finally rang, the girl didn't waste any time in packing her things and rushing out of the classroom to find Liam. She heard other students talking about how it was Corey that had been taken away in the ambulance, and Cassie couldn't help but panic that she would be next — the girl was rushing down the stairs, trying to avoid the pool of students, when she saw Liam with his duffel bag, looking for her with a panicked look of his own. "Is it Corey? I heard people talking about how he was taken away in an ambulance." Cassie asked the boy, grabbing onto his outstretched hand and letting him guide her through the hallways.

"They're taking him to the hospital." He told her as they manoeuvred through the students, the girls heart rate instantly speeding up at the confirmation.

"Wait, Liam." Cassie pleaded, pulling him to a stop, "That means I'm next, right? They're going to come for me." She stated, knowing that it was true, and nothing he said could make her believe otherwise. The girl just now started thinking about the fact that maybe Scott could have helped, or her dad, or anyone, but it was clearly too late, she was going to die no matter what they did next, and she was terrified.

"They're coming for all of us, which is why we have to get out of here." Liam stated, giving him a pleading look of his own as he tried pulling her along again. The girl looked around, unable to find anything to stop her, so she sighed, letting Liam pull her along as they sprinted out of the school, getting far away from dodge as possible.

The whole time, Cassie felt her phone ring with Stiles' personalised ring, and she couldn't answer, not now. She couldn't put him through this, or her dad, she just needed to go, that way, they won't be as hurt with her death, they wouldn't have to see her body.. The girl couldn't do that to them..

To say Noah was panicking was an understatement, he couldn't find his daughter, she wasn't answering his calls, and neither was Liam. Stiles had gone off to find Lydia in hopes that maybe she would be able to find Cassie, but he had little hope. She wouldn't just leave without letting him know first, he knew she wouldn't.. Would she? "Scott!" Noah called out, seeing the boy by his locker, he rushed up, not wasting any time, "I can't get in contact with Cassie, you don't think? That.." He stuttered, unable to say the words as tears formed in his eyes.

Scott shook his head, placing a hand on Noah's arm, "I think she's with Liam. I'm trying to figure out where the two of them have gone, okay? I'll find her." He assured Noah, knowing that he wasn't going to stop until he found Cassie, even if he was bleeding out and dying, he was going to find her.

"I can't loose her, Scott. I can't." Noah told Scott, not caring that he looked pathetic, he just couldn't imagine loosing his little girl, and if he did, he was going to do everything he could to bring down the dread doctors. He was going to kill them all..

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Cassie asked Liam, as the boy lead her into Cassie's home, where the girl was going to get her hidden stash of money from working over the summers. They both raced up the stairs, where Liam pushed her bed aside and pulled up the floorboard where the girl had hidden her money, "Dad and Stiles, they're probably looking for us at the school, Scott probably is, too.." She trailed off, watching as Liam pulled out the box of money and pocketed it, standing back up and standing in front of her, pulling her hands into his own, "I mean, it's still daytime, right? Don't we have time to say goodbye?" She asked, knowing that she would just feel guilty for leaving everyone, as well as Ellie and Hayden, who were probably worried sick about the girl and Liam..

"We can call them when we get away from here." Liam said, pushing the hair away from her face again, "We should get as far away from this place as possible before nightfall. They won't know where to find us, you'll have time." He explained, confident in his plan to leave the town and never come back until the doctors were gone.

"Okay, but what if I turn into a flame? What if I hurt you, or if I kill you? I couldn't live with myself." Cassie carried on, allowing her thoughts to overrun, unable to think of anything but worries.

"If you do that, I'll get over it." Liam told her, the girl scoffing with a small smile on her face, leaning in to give him another kiss, but the flickering of all of the lights in the house breaking them apart, the two teenagers looking around in fear.

"Oh my god. They're here." Cassie whispered, confused as anything as they didn't think the doctors could come out during the daytime. But when the lights and anything that ran by electricity flickered, they knew that the doctors were near.. "Liam." She whimpered, moving closer to him as they heard footsteps come from downstairs.

"Come here." Liam whispered, pulling her down on the ground and crawling under the bed, motioning for the girl to follow. He knew that this wasn't a permanent hiding spot, but maybe just until they had a chance to escape and get the hell out of dodge. They gripped each others hands as they stayed as still as anything, not moving and barely breathing to bring no attention to them as they heard the footsteps come closer up the stairs. When they heard the girls door creek open, Cassie held in a cry as Liam slipped from under the bed, to behind the door, waiting for the doctor to come in so he could ambush the thing. The last thing he wanted to do was leave the girl, but he had no choice, he had to defend her, or die trying.
As soon as the dread doctor came in, Liam pounced, screaming at Cassie to get out from under the bed and to follow him whilst the creature was distracted. The girl obliged, running after him down the stairs and to the front door, where another had appeared, hitting Liam around the face and sending the boy flying, Cassie screaming at the sight in front of her. The girl backed up towards the living room, but quickly stopped when the one that Liam had jumped on was suddenly behind her, too, the girl having no where to go. "Run, Cassie!" Liam shouted, but the girl couldn't move, as she stared into the dread doctors eye, like the thing had her in a trace..

She backed up again, knowing that this was the end, when she heard Scott's roar from the front door, all four of them looking towards him before he pounced into action, attacking the closest dread doctor to him as Cassie quickly ran behind him and hid, knowing that she couldn't do anything but watch as they fought. Liam quickly got up and fought, too, but they had been knocked to the floor so many times, breaking almost every piece of furniture in her house that Cassie didn't know if they were going to survive or not. She backed up again whilst the two doctor's were distracted by Scott and Liam, heading towards the kitchen where she could escape through the back door, just as Theo arrived to help out. She heard her name being called, turning back around to Liam as he rushed into the kitchen, but the second she turned around, a sharp syringe entered her neck, the girl letting out an ear piercing scream at the feeling, the liquid being inserted into her blood stream as the girl felt her body shutting down.
From Liam's point of view, he saw the girls whole body seize, her eyes filling up with Mercury as she looked like she had died right there. A heart breaking scream broke the silence as the girls body dropped to the floor, her eyes rolling into the back of her head as she fell. And the boy didn't wasn't any time in rushing towards her, picking her up bridal style on the floor and dropping down with her, holding her close to him, muttering 'no' over and over again.

When Scott rushed into the kitchen, seeing his little sister collapse into Liam's arms, he knew one thing, he had failed again.
