𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗲; finding out the truth

"orphaned"

THE LACROSSE GAME HAD TURNED out to be a complete bust, not even worth going, and Violet had randomly tried to kill Scott while the game was going on, and they lost the game in the end, while Garrett was now on the loose, as it was proven he was working with Violet. Cassie's dad had taken her straight home after he assessed the crime scene, and made her stay there for the night, not wanting her back outside. It was strange, that two people she had known for a while had ended up being two murderers, it made her wonder how many other people she knew had big secrets.
But, of course, as always, Stiles didn't have to stay home, as she didn't see him for the rest of the night, he was probably out with his friends again.. By this point, she was used to Stiles getting special treatment from their father, but it was starting to get ridiculous the amount of times he is actually able to get away with most things, while Cassie wouldn't even attempt to, as she knew she wouldn't get away with it.

It was now the morning after and she was in the kitchen, dressed up in her running gear, having an apple for breakfast, when her dad had walked in, wearing his sheriffs uniform all ready for his day at work. He had instantly looked over at her in curiosity as to why she was awake so early. "You're up early." Noah commented, as he made his way to make a cup of coffee. He looked back at her with a confused look on his face, "Are you going somewhere?" He asked, upon noticing her running gear - she wasn't much of an exercise person, so he didn't understand why she was dressed like that.

Cassie nodded at him, feeling energised for the run she was about to go on, before she swallowed her mouthful of apple, "Mason invited me and Liam on a run." She informed him, noticing the confused look on his face.

"A run?" He asked her, raising an eyebrow. Never had he ever seen Cassie run before in his life, if anything, he saw her avoid doing anything that had to do with exercise.

Cassie shrugged at her dad. "I've got nothing better to do." She admitted, "And Mason wanted me to go." She added, knowing that Mason probably wanted to interrogate Liam, but he needed Cassie with him to be able to do so.

"Right." Noah said, knowing that Cassie could never say no to her friends, "Well, make sure you're not late to school, alright?" He asked, allowing her to go on her run as long as she didn't miss any school. She needed to stay in his good books ever since she had ditched school, but he had only let it slide because she had been attacked that night..

Cassie nodded, before she stood up and gave him a small smile, "Sure." She said, as she began to walk to the front door, "Have fun at work." She called out, before she eventually left, not exactly excited for the run ahead of her. Maybe if she enjoyed herself, she could start running more often..

It didn't take long for Cassie to meet her friends, but it hadn't been that much fun for the girl as the second they started jogging, Mason had started complaining about how annoyed he was that the fact Garrett and Violet had been using them for their cover at school while they went around and murdered people at night or the weekend, whereas Cassie was just glad that they weren't in their lives anymore, where they couldn't get murdered, and Liam just didn't care at all about the fact the two of them were bad - like he wasn't even surprised, really..
"It's not just that we were friends with them. They were using us for their cover. I mean, professional killers were using us." Mason complained, "How are you not freaking out about that?" He asked Liam, who just shrugged at Mason as they all jogged at a slow pace so they could all talk.

"Trust me, I'm freaking out about a lot." Liam muttered, mostly to himself, looking as if he had something else going on in his head, that nothing else could possibly match up to his troubles, not even two murderers..

"I'm just confused at why they didn't kill any of us, I mean, if they're murderers, why did they leave us alive but kill all of those other people, and Scott of all people?" Cassie voiced her thoughts, making her and Mason feel even more freaked out. Scott was the sweetest boy Cassie knew, she couldn't think of any reason as to why somebody would want to kill him.

Just as she spoke the words, Liam had decided to run off at an inhumane speed, causing Mason to yell after him, "Liam, slow down. Liam!" He yelled.

Cassie, being small and having long legs, was a fast runner, so she thought that she would be able run after him, or even try. She just wanted to know why Liam, Stiles and Scott were being so secretive lately, so getting him alone would be the best option to question him. She just hoped he wouldn't run away from her like he had done just now..
"I'm 'gonna follow him." She told Mason, not waiting to hear a response, before she took off in the direction that Liam had, ignoring Mason's shouts to stay back in the background.
Once she had just about caught up to the direction he ran off in, now just breaking a sweat, she saw Liam on the ground unconscious, in front of a parked car, looking like he had just been hit with it. "Oh my god! Liam!" She shouted, rushing over to assess how he is, she didn't even think if anyone else could be here, she just ran up to him in lightening speed..

Cassie was just about to crouch down and assess him for any injuries he may have received, when someone had grabbed her from behind and pulled a knife up to her throat, restricting her movements. "You shouldn't be here, Cassie." She heard from behind her, and her eyes instantly widened once she heard that it was Garrett, holding the knife to her throat and now threatening her. She had jinxed herself by asking Mason and Liam why they hadn't murdered them yet and she hated herself for it - she didn't want to die.

Cassie was breathing heavily from fear as she tried to keep as still as she could so Garrett didn't make any sudden movements, "I don't know why you killed all of those people." She stuttered, tears already streaming down her face at the thought of dying today, "B-But if you leave me and Liam alone, I won't tell anyone that you were here." She told him, trembling under his hold, which he could feel.

"Your dad's the sheriff, of course you'll tell someone." He snarled, before he paused for a second, realising something important, "But.. You'd be perfect leverage to encourage Scott to do what I say, when you think about it. He'd do anything for you and Liam." He said, mostly himself, as he smirked down at Liam's passed out body.

"Scott?" Cassie stuttered, "Encourage Scott to do what?" She asked, not understanding what Scott had to do with anything - why were they so obsessed with killing him? What did Scott do to them that had made them so angry with him?

Garrett chuckled at her words, "You really have no clue, don't you? Boy, I'd be man if I was you." He laughed in amusement, he would hate Scott and Stiles if he was out the look like Cassie was right now - he actually found it quite funny, the fact that the girl didn't know anything..

"No clue about what?" Cassie asked, still shaking under his hold as he spoke to her. She didn't have a clue of what was going on right now, and what the hell Garrett was talking about, but she didn't care, she just wanted her dad, or brother, she was scared.

"Your brothers friends... And Liam." He told her, "They're not who you think they are." He admitted, not telling her everything, but hinting at something so that if Scott found her, he would have a lot of explaining to do. He laughed a little at his plan, before becoming serious again, "I wouldn't normally hurt a human, but I really need Scott's help." He told her, almost feeling sorry for the girl. So, I'm sorry for this." He apologised.

Suddenly, Garrett let her go, causing her to stumble forwards, and she was about to make a run for it, thinking that he had actually let her go and had second thoughts about killing her, but before she could even attempt it, she had felt a sharp pain in her side, causing her to scream out in excruciating pain. And before she could do anything else in attempt at getting away, she was knocked out cold, sending her into a long sleep.

Cassie quickly woke up after around an hour being out, with a painful groan emitting from her mouth, as she felt something press down on the side of her stomach, causing her to cry out in pain as she felt her insides burn by the pressure. She instantly pried open her eyes, only to see darkness, but within that darkness, was Liam's worried face as he looked down at her. "Sorry." He apologised, quietly, so he didn't strike fear in the girl. She should have never come after him. This was his fault.

Cassie blinked thoroughly and looked down to see the side of her stomach bleeding heavily. Liam had wrapped her hoodie around it to try and control the bleeding, but it didn't help much, as it was just soaking her hoodie with blood - the pale pink colour now a dark red. Her eyes widened when she noticed the large blood stain, now realising what had happened, and that she could die. Not only that, but she had no clue where they were. Would anyone be able to find them? "Liam?" She blurted out, her voice hoarse due to the lack of energy, earning his attention, she looked up to notice that he had a wound on his chest, that he was holding with one hand, while holding her upright with the other, struggling slightly with his own pain, but putting Cassie first, knowing that he could handle.

"Yeah, it's me." He told her, smiling a little at her face, knowing that she was doing okay, although he was still worried greatly that she may not make this - he wouldn't let it show though, as he needed to keep Cassie calm, "Can you stand?" He asked, having been holding her up with his knee, very difficultly.

Cassie nodded at him weakly, and stood upright, with Liam's help as he kept his hand on her hip to ensure she would fall over, the second she stood up, she felt her feet touch the bottom of the ground, causing her to look up, only to see that they were in some sort of well. A deep one, at that.
"Where are we?" She asked weakly, when she suddenly remembered what Garrett had told her, before she ended up down here. He said that Stiles' friends and Liam are not who they say they are, and even though they were in this situation, she couldn't help but ask. "Garrett said something to me." She said, before looking back down to her wound on her stomach with a wince on her face, "Before he stabbed me." She added.

Liam was looking at her in concern, when it turned into panic, afraid that Garrett had told her something about them and what they were. "Uh... What did, Uh... What did he say?" He asked her, not knowing what he was going to do if she began asking questions.

"That you aren't who I thought you were." Cassie told him, backing away slightly from his touch, in slight fear, "What did he mean?" She asked, making Liam feel terrible that she was scared of him, he had only kept it from her to keep her safe, and that Stiles hadn't let him say anything..

Liam sighed and looked down, there was no hiding the truth now, as he would be healed when Scott finds them, meaning that she would know about everything, he was just scared about how she would take it all.  "He was right." He told her, looking down in guilt, "I'm a..." He said, not knowing how to word it, "A werewolf." He blurted out, showing her his glowing eyes.

"Werewolf?" Cassie asked in disbelief, as her eyes widened at his eye colour, thinking that she was hallucinating or some sort, due to the lack of blood in her system, "You're joking, right? This is some sort of joke?" She cried, tears streaming down her face at the sight of him in front of her. Every time she moved, or spoke, more pain would flow through her body, and it was getting to the point where she couldn't take it anymore, she wanted the pain to stop. She whimpered, breaking Liam's heart..

"I wish I was." He told her truthfully, wishing he could have just told her from the start, ignoring Stiles and Scott about not telling her the truth - he hated himself because of it, "You remember the night of the hospital?" He asked, and when she nodded, he carried on explaining, "What you were attacked by, that was a wendigo, and that's why his teeth were like that." He explained, feeling awful that she hadn't know this the whole time.

Cassie eyes widened at his words, having thought she was crazy about what she saw, that it was her mind playing tricks on her, that she was going crazy crazy, like her mother had years before, "That was real? I thought I imagined the whole thing?" She gasped, her lip quivering.

Liam nodded sadly at the girl, "I'm sorry." He looked up at her, seeing the look on her face, "Nobody wanted to keep it from you, they just wanted to keep you safe." He admitted.

Cassie scoffed at him, "But they did, look where we are." She said, before looking back down to her bleeding stomach, "It hurts, Liam, it really hurts." She cried, looking back up at the boy in front of her.

"I know, I know." He said, putting his hand on her cheek to get her to look straight at him, "But Scott will get us out of this, I swear. You're going to be okay. We're going to be okay." He encouraged, stroking his thumb over her cheeks, wiping away her tears that were down her face, hating seeing them there. In the small amount of time that he had known her, she already held a place in his heart, due to her kindness and just who she was as a person - whenever he thought of her, he calmed down, and his anger was toned down. He hadn't told Scott yet, but he knew that Cassie was a big help when it came to him shifting..

"You promise?" She asked, sniffing, looking into his eyes and finding comfort in them.

"I promise." Liam told her, smiling slightly at her. She smiled weakly back at him, before leaning into him and allowing his body to keep her warm in this freezing well..

They don't know how long they were in the well for, but while they were down there, Liam explained everything to Cassie while they waited for Scott to find them, if they ever would find them - they were just wishing to hear his voice, anything that could help them out of this mess.
Liam wanted to get Cassie's mind off of the pain of her stab wound on the girls side, so he carried on informing her of everything that's been going on since he came to town - how he was bitten, how he had tried to keep his anger control and why..

Meaning that Cassie Stilinski now knew about the supernatural world of Beacon Hills.

"Liam." Cassie spoke up, incredibly weak, now, due to her blood rush. Her eyes were beginning to drift shut as blood rushed up to her mouth as she spoke, staining her teeth, "If I don't make it..." She panted in pain, "Will you tell Stiles and my dad that I love them both?" She asked him, knowing that she wouldn't make this out alive - she could sense it, with this excruciating pain, it just didn't make sense that she would make it through this alive and well.

Liam was quick to shake his head at the girls words, not wanting to believe it, "You're not gonna die. I won't let you." He told her, looking up in desperation, hoping that Scott would hurry up and get down here, or he would have to take matters into his own hands and get his girl out of here..

"Please, just do it." Cassie begged, feeling an immense effort to be able to keep her eyes open and up at him.

He shook his head again, "I'm going to get us out of here." He told her, "You've just gotta hold on a little while longer, okay?" He asked. When he got a weak nod from her, he looked up and figured he would try and climb out, that way, he can call for Scott and they can get her out as fast as they could. "I'm going to try and climb out, okay?" He told her, "Then I'll go and get help, and we'll come back and get you, okay?" He said.

"Okay." She said, weakly, finding it hard to keep her eyes open.

When they fully closed and she wouldn't open them again, Liam began to panic. She couldn't die, not like this. He took a deep breath, and began to climb.
