𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲-𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭; betrayal and torture

"ouroboros"

WHEN CASSIE WOKE UP, SHE never expected to find herself chained to a table, locked up as the dread doctors all stood around her, examining her, planning where they were next going to work on her, ensuring that she would become a success. Cassie had never been so terrified in her life, the last thing she remembered, was holding onto Liam for dear life, looking up at the doctors who towered over them, Liam shifting in front of her as he tried to fight them off, but they were just too powerful, he couldn't stop them, at least, not with Scott's help. Scott — he lied to them, he told them that he wanted to keep Cassie safe, to make sure the dread doctors couldn't get to her, but he lied, he lied to Liam, he lied to Cassie, and he lied to Stiles, the boy still thinking that his sister was safe at the school with his best friend protecting her, but he was wrong, Scott never intended to keep her safe, he used her as bait, something that made him ashamed of himself. The second he woke up to see Liam and Cassie were gone, he regretted his choice instantly; he messed up.

Cassie was lying face down on a table, her wrists and ankles all chained down to resist her from making any movements, as her eyes stayed glued onto her boyfriend from across the room, who had been passed out the second she awoke. He had some sort of contraption leading into his arm, black good making its way into his blood stream, with what Cassie could only imagine as a liquid to weaken him, to ensure he couldn't fight his way out. The girl couldn't even move if she wanted to, she felt like her muscles were stretching apart, creating a new product of its own, and she had never felt more weak than she did in this moment — she couldn't talk, she couldn't even move her mouth as she lazily looked over at Liam, praying that he would wake up and get them out of this mess. She had been so stupid to believe she was going to be okay, she should have known that the dread doctors would get to her, and she should have known that she was going to die today; she should have said goodbye to her dad, to Stiles, but she never got the chance..

It felt like a lifetime that the girl was lying on the uncomfortable and hard table, hearing the doctors move around her as she kept her eyes glued onto Liam's face, the only thing keeping her calm, keeping her breathing at a minimal. She felt the sweat drip down her forehead and onto the table below her as Liam finally woke up, the girl allowing a few tears to form at the sight of him, weak and frail on the floor as a strange black substance was pumping into his system. "Cassie." Liam mumbled, the first thing he thought of doing the second he woke up, trying to move to get to the girl he loved, the girl he promised to protect..
The hissing came from her right, the girl unable to see the doctors anymore as they moved behind her, a chill running up her spine as she realised they could do whatever they wanted with her, they could kill her. One of the doctors appeared in front of the young girl, Cassie able to see their real face as the girl gasped, sobbing as he placed his helmet on, getting ready for his work — she couldn't do anything but watch as all three of them gathered around her, "No, don't, no, no! Don't hurt her!" Liam shouted, his voice quiet due to how weak he was, but using all of his energy to try and get them to listen.

Cassie's shirt was lifted up, revealing her hip to the doctors as they whispered her name, Liam shouting for her in the background as he tried to get them to stop; but they weren't listening, they ignored the young boy like he wasn't even there. The large needle went into her hip, the blood flowing out and dripping onto the floor, creating a puddle by the doctors feet as they worked on the girl, Cassie feeling a pinch where they worked, her whole body being so numb to the point where she barely felt the large needle go in and pierce her bone. Next, they moved up to her shoulder blades, digging into her skin and to her bones as the pliers went in, injecting the black goo into her body as the girls eyes rolled into the back of her head, trying to fight to stay awake, it wasn't until the alarms began blaring out, did one of the doctors finally move away towards Liam, whom was lying helplessly on the floor, watching the doctors work on his girlfriend with nothing he could do. The doctor injected more black goo into Liam's IV drip, as Cassie heard their chilling voices from behind her.

"Her condition worsens." The doctor spoke up, not caring about the fact that his subject could hear him, the girls body wasn't doing what it was supposed to be doing, although she wasn't reacting like many of their other subjects did..

Cassie gasped as another needle went into her side, this time, a lot more painful than the first, that her face scrunched up in pain, "Don't hurt her!" Liam yelled in the background, hating that all he could do was watch the girl he loved cry out in pain, "Cassie! Don't hurt her!" He yelled again, his eyes shifting in anger as he wanted nothing but to break the girl out of here. He roared, the boys teeth coming out as one of the doctors walked towards him, bringing up his foot, and shoving it down onto Liam's face, hard, to the point where it sent him out cold, once again.

"Liam." Cassie managed to whisper, watching as the boys eyes shut and he fell back down and out cold yet again. She just wanted to go home, but she couldn't.

"Her condition worsens, yet she is different than the rest." The dread doctor above her spoke up again, as the girl sobbed at the fact Liam was out cold again and she was truly alone.

Cassie fell to the floor with a groan, the girl coughing as her back hit the ground, the wounds feeling like they were opening up yet again, the blood souring out of her and creating a puddle on the ground beneath her. The girl wheezed as she tried to breathe, yet it felt like her throat was closing up, the girl gasping for breath as she laid flat on her back, her vision blurring as the doctor walked away from her like she was nothing but garbage, not caring for her anymore. The girl hadn't even noticed that she had been chucked down besides Liam, until she felt him move next to her, instantly grabbing her hand, "Cass, Cass are you okay?" He asked worriedly, the look on the girls face sending chills down his spine as he realised that she was in a lot of pain.

Cassie coughed, the blood coming up her throat and dripping down from her lips, "Everything hurts, Liam." She whimpered, having not felt a single part of her body where it wasn't burning. The girl felt that every single part of her skin was on fire, nothing being able to take the pain away, and that's what she thought the dread doctors wanted, to give her pain — she hadn't heard exactly what they were saying about her, but they were saying that she wasn't a complete success, yet she wasn't a failure.. Nothing made sense.

The girl clutched her side, which was oozing black goo, but the girl didn't know that, and Liam didn't intend to tell her and panic her even more than she was already, but the sight terrified him, black meant failure, and that meant she was dying; he couldn't live without her, he just couldn't. When the girl wheezed again, lifting her head up as she groaned in pain again, holding her side even tighter than before, the sight made Liam squirm. "Give me your hand." He told her gently, holding his hand up to her as she looked at him in confusion, as much as she loved this boy, holding his hand wasn't about to rid of the pain she was in. Liam motioned for her to take his hand again, "There's something Scott does, he can take away the pain. I've never done it before, but I can try." He explained, as the girl gripped his hand when more pain soared throughout her body.

"It won't hurt you, will it?" Cassie asked quietly, looking up at Liam with a sad look in her eyes — as much as she wished for this pain to be gone, she wouldn't wish it upon Liam, either, the last thing she wanted to see was him in pain..

Liam shook his head, "No. it won't." He confirmed, the girl nodding her head with a small smile on her face as Liam lifted her hand up, squeezing as he concentrated to take her pain away — he closed his eyes, clenching them shut as he he'd his breath, reaching for the pain he was about to endure, but nothing came. The girl gasped again when she felt the pain soar through her body, Cassie crying out as her grip on Liam faltered and her hand flew to her side where it was still bleeding, "I'm sorry." Liam apologised, disappointed in himself for not being able to take her pain away, the only thing he wanted to do.

Cassie breathed out slowly as she tried to relief some of the pain, turning to face Liam with a forced smile on her face, trying to convince him that she was fine, but the boy could see right through her, "What do they want with us?" She asked, a year falling from her eye and running down her face, Liam instantly wiping it away with his thumb, "They said my condition worsens, am I gonna die?" She couldn't help but ask, just wanting to know if today would be her last day on Earth.

"I don't know." Liam sighed, looking around to see if the doctors were here, but he couldn't see any of them, making him sigh in relief slightly. He pulled Cassie's hand towards his again, holding it in his grasp as he looked into her eyes, the girl looking right back as it was the only thing that brought her comfort — they were all alone, but at least they had each other..

"You gotta pull it out, I can't do it myself." Liam told Cassie, after the two teenagers had spent the last few hours fading in and out of consciousness, Cassie more then Liam due to the amount of blood she was loosing, "I gotta try and get us out of here." He added, noticing the look of panic that spread across Cassie's face at his words, the girl not wanting to hurt him. "It'll be okay, I'll be fine once it's out." He said, stroking the girls face as she cried.

Cassie eventually nodded, rolling over onto her side with a struggle as she reached her hand up to his arm where the large tube was entering his veins, "Okay." She breathed out, Liam helping the girl sit up as her hands gripped around the tube. She gave Liam a nervous look, before the girl began to pull the tube, cringing as Liam yelled in pain as the tube was being pulled out of his skin. The girl carried on pulling, trying to block out Liam's grunts of pain as the tube slowly made its way out of his arm, finally ending and the black goo pouring out, Liam sighing in relief once it was out of him. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, are you okay?" Cassie asked, holding his face between her hands.

Liam looked at her with a smile, "It'll heal." He said, nodding his head at her as the girl worriedly looked him over, "We'll both heal." He added, wanting to give her hope that she was going to survive this, because he wasn't about to let her die in here. Cassie finally managed to crack a smile, until Liam's face turned into pure horror at what was behind her, the girls smile instantly falling as she turned around to see what Liam was gasping at — a doctor was stood behind her with a large and very long needle, holding it out in the direction of her neck as the girls eyes widened at the sight of it. "No! Cassie!" Liam shouted at the top of his lungs, as the doctors held him back away from her.

As one doctor pulled Cassie's head back, another pushed the needle into her neck, the girl letting out a shrill shriek at the feeling of the needle going through her skin and through her neck. The feeling of the needle piercing through her skin had been a completely different type of pain she had ever felt before, the girl gasping as the liquid entered her system, her skin feeling like it was on fire yet again, as she heard Liam scream in the background for her, and for the doctors to stop. They didn't listen, though, instead, they pushed Liam to the side, injecting him with something, also, as they pulled Cassie back, the girl going limp in their hold as Liam could only watch helplessly, unable to help his girlfriend out as they practically tortured her. The last thing he heard her mutter was, 'I love you', before everything went black.
