-Chapter 55

Jenny's POV

"On the bright side, our sales have gone up a little." I mumbled to Andrew as we checked the accounts.

"For now thankfully. But I don't know how long this will last." He sighed. "We need to somehow start selling in America, shipping there costs far too much. We need to set up factories and stores and become a chain and-"

"Wow, one step at a time big boy." I slid off his desk, picking up my coffee and beginning to make my way to my office again. I glanced in Laura's on the way, she wasn't there...come to think of it, I haven't seen her here in ages.

"Andrew, where's Laura?" I walked back to his desk.

"She's called in sick to work every day this week." He replied, fixing his headset when he got a call. "Beats me." He shrugged before turning and beginning to chat to whoever was on the other end.

I sighed but nodded and went back to my office, taking a seat at my desk. I sipped on my coffee and grabbed my phone as I checked it. I had a new message from Niall, which I immediately opened; smiling when I saw a picture of Arabella. She was standing with Niall's boots on her. I chuckled fondly as I switched to snapchat, seeing he had sent me a video on there. I began laughing when I saw her attempting to walk in his shoes. She just fell on her bum but was giggling.

"Tell mammy ye miss her." Niall said in the next video. "Tell her to come home."

"Come 'ome." Bella giggled, smiling at the camera before burying her face in Niall's neck. Home time could not come quick enough, it was also the weekend, meaning I had a few days to spend with the two of them.

Niall and I have a date on Saturday night after his show. We have been back together over a month now, so he said he wanted to do something nice. I complied, I can't wait to see what we're going to do. Even if we went to KFC again, I wouldn't care, as long as I'm with him.

...

Niall's POV

I walked into the jewellers and smiled as I walked up to the counter. The man standing behind it, in his suit, returned the smile. "How may I help you?" He questioned.

"I left a ring in here last week, to be cleaned and the diamond was to be upgraded." I informed him. "The name's Horan."

"Oh yes, I have your ring, it's ready." He smiled, going out the back before returning with a petite black box. He opened it and I smiled as I saw it. "We upgraded the diamond to a larger diamond, the band is now 2.0 carats and it is a marquise solitaire on white gold, it is now also diamond paved." He told me. I peered at it, watching how it glistened in the light. It truly was spectacular.

"It's perfect." I grinned, taking it into my hand and examining it. To think this ring was once on Laura's finger. Thanks for that one, drunk Niall. We all appreciated it. I couldn't give Jenny the same ring she had been wearing, so I decided an upgrade was needed. I may have gone overboard, but it's not as though I'm short on money.

"So, here's your bill." He handed me and my eyes widened.

"Great." I smiled though my teeth. I did not realise it would cost this much, but it's for Jenny, it's worth it.

I handed him my card and paid for it before placing the ring back in it's box which he put in a bag for me. I thanked him quietly before taking it home. Once home I hid it in my sock drawer, because where else was I going to put it that Jenny would not find it.

"What are you doing?" Jenny asked, coming into the room and raising an eyebrow at me.

"Uh, just getting new socks." I grumbled, grabbing a pair and smiling at her.

"Why?" She questioned, looking rather befuddled.

"Because my feet feel sweaty." I rolled my eyes, sitting on the bed and taking off my shoes to change my socks. She just eyed me up and down but nodded and left the room. I ran down the stairs after her then, grabbing he by the hand and twirling her so she was facing me.

"I love you." I giggled, pressing my lips to hers gently as my hands rested on her hips. "And I'm excited for our date tomorrow night." I pulled back to speak, biting on my lip afterwards.

"Me too." She grinned, kissing me briefly again.

"I promise this date will be more successful than our last." I giggled quietly against her lips.

"Hey, I still had a good time." She smiled, running her fingertips through the hair on the nape of my neck.

...

Jenny's POV

Niall informed me not to dress up as we were not going to a fancy restaurant. Thank God. At four o'clock we dropped Arabella off with Joanna and then made our way to our destination.

Once we arrived, I knew right away where we were. Niall had booked this area, yet again. It's the place he once asked me to be his girlfriend in, and it's also the place where we first got engaged. I felt the butterflies rise in my stomach as I thought about this. Niall never brings me here unless something significant is going to occur in our relationship.. is he going to propose to me again? No, it's too soon for that Jenny, God, you two are only back together for five weeks.

I smiled over at Niall as he stopped the car, pulling the keys out of the ignition. "You know where we are?"

"Of course I do, how could I not?" I leaned over and gently pressed our lips together before grabbing my bag and getting out of the car.

I walked over and opened the gate, waiting for Niall to lock it behind us before we walked hand in hand down the path. The first time I was here, I thought I was about to get murdered. Walking down a path covered with trees you can't see through, in the middle of nowhere, on your own can be quite daunting. Well, for me anyway, but maybe I'm just a chicken.

Once we entered the area I smiled softly as I peered around. I began to reminisce on the times we have had here. I peered over to the waterfall and smiled as I recalled Niall asking me to be his girlfriend. I denied him until the third time he asked. I remember his face, he seemed so anxious and bewildered. He was not expecting my denial.

As I glanced over at the grass I saw the two of us, Niall on his knee in front of me, asking me to marry him for the second time because the first time was not good enough for me. I don't know if I enjoy making Niall get flustered or I just enjoy teasing him, but for some reason, I could never say yes on the first shot. Poor Niall.

He led me over to the grass and sat me down, going over to the infamous bush which held everything we may need for the date. He pulled out a picnic basket and blanket, just as I suspected.

"Are we having a water balloon fight this time?" I giggled as I cuddled up next to Niall on the blanket.

"Maybe, who knows?" He smirked, taking my hand in his and playing with my fingers gently. Just then his phone vibrated in his pocket. He took it out and rolled his eyes when he read the text.

"What's wrong?" I questioned, frowning slightly.

"It's Laura." He sighed, showing me his screen which read 'we need to talk'.

"Why does she want to talk?" I asked.

"I don't know, you know as much as I do." He shrugged, turning his phone off and putting it away. "Anyway, it's time for you now, Laura can wait." He pulled me closer to him, gently pressing his lips to mine. I smiled against his lips and kissed him back for a few minutes.

We sat and ate the picnic he had packed for us, as well as drank the bottle of presecco he had purchased. I am not  much of a champagne person and I certainly know Niall would have preferred a cold beer, but I guess he just wanted to be somewhat romantic.

"Why are we drinking champagne, we are not sophisticated people." I giggled, taking another sip from my glass.

"Want a beer?" He raised an eyebrow at me. I nodded and he reached inside the basket, taking out a can of beer and handing me it. I smiled as I opened it, tipping the glass I was holding to the side so the champagne spilt onto the grass.

"Much better." I grinned as we began to drink our beers together then.

"Cheers to our future or something like that." Niall said, holding up his beer. We clinked cans and then went back to slurping the beers like the sophisticated beings we are.

"Yeah, cheers to our future, or something like that." I reiterated what Niall had said, with a chuckle.

"Maybe keep the champagne, we'll give it to Joanna." I said when I saw Niall was about to pour it on the grass.

"We can't give it to Joanna she's-"

"Not a kid anymore and can drink." I chuckled as Niall looked rather dumbfounded.

"Wow, that's right. I still think of her as that little fifteen year old girl." He smiled fondly as he spoke. "I guess we best save it, we might have celebrations to be had." He smirked, putting the cork back into the bottle and placing it in the basket.

I frowned slightly and then smiled. "What are you planning on doing, Horan?" I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Nothing." He smirked, taking another slurp of his beer. "Nothing." He smiled coyly at the ground. I rolled my eyes and sighed, laying down and resting my head on his lap. He began to play with my hair, twirling a strand of it around his finger.

I stared at the sky, watching the clouds go by. "It looks like it's going to rain." I quietly said as I eyed a dark grey cloud which did not look too comforting.

"I'm sure it'll be grand." Niall shrugged, not seeming too bothered, as being Irish, nothing is a problem until it becomes a problem. The Irish are very laid back. I was sitting rather worried I was going to get wet whereas Niall was just taking it as it came. If he got wet, he got wet, not big deal.

A few moments later my thoughts were indeed correct, the skies opened and rain began to pour. I screamed and put Niall's jacket over my head while Niall just laughed at me. Lovely English weather for you.

"Niall, we have to go." I said from under his jacket.

"No," He shook his head. I stood up and he followed suit, although he pulled his jacket off my head, throwing it to the ground. His hands grabbed my waist and he pulled me closer to him. "Who cares if we get wet." He mumbled and began to kiss me gently. "Least we can say we made out in the rain." He bit on my bottom lip teasingly.

I wanted to shove him away and run to the car as quickly as I could. I did. But I didn't. In the moment, as stupid as it was, I didn't want to stop kissing him. Now, I know, kissing in the rain is not an idea move. I mean, you could get a cold. Although, maybe that's just the mother in me. Either way, I pushed back my motherly thoughts and decided to just live in the moment, have a little fun and make some more memories.

That's one thing off my bucket list, kissing in the rain, with Niall. I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else.

He pulled back after a few moments and smiled at me. I reached forward and gently pushed his damp hair out of his face. He bit on his lip and his eyes darted from my eyes to my mouth repeatedly before he crashed our lips together again, kissing me more hungrily now.

"Niall, we're getting all wet." I whispered against his lips, our damp foreheads pressing together.

"Good, now I get to do this." He walked over to the waterfall and jumped in. Not the smartest move, considering there were rocks at the bottom of it, but he had done it before I could scold him.

"Niall." I giggled. "You know I hate the water." I whined as he held his hands out to me.

"Come on, it'll be like old times, I'll swim us into the cave." He offered, pouting as he held his arms out. I pondered on the thought for a moment and then just got into the water with all my clothing still on me. I was wet enough, there was no point taking them off.

I clasped my arms around Niall's neck and he soon swam us under the waterfall and inside the cave. I shut my eyes as we swam under the cascading water, shaking my head then when my hair got all wet.

"Oi," Niall called out. "You're like a bloody dog back there." He chuckled as he stopped and allowed me to stand once the water level was almost nothing. I pulled myself up onto the dry ground and awaited Niall to come and sit next to me. Once he did, we sat there chatting for a while until I became cold and whined to return and go home.

Niall complied and swam the two of us out. Once on the grass again, he went behind the bush and retrieved towels and dry clothes for us. I went behind another bush to change as did Niall and when we emerged, I frowned at what I was met with...Joanna and Arabella?

"Mammy!" She waved at me. I looked over at Niall who was smiling. He gestured for me to follow and we walked over to her.

"You know what to do, don't you?" He asked her and she nodded, clapping her hands excitedly. I narrowed my eyes slightly and eyed the two of them. What were they up to..

Before I could even ponder on the thought any longer, Niall was getting down on one knee. My eyed widened, my heart beginning to race as I peered between the three of them. Was he really going to do what I thought he was going to do?

"Jenny," he began with a smile. "Second time proposing so I've said it all before." He chuckled quietly. My eyes began to well up already and he had barely spoke. "Well, we tried living apart and it just didn't work. Guess that just goes to prove that we both need each other in our lives. We complete each other, don't we?" He questioned and I nodded frantically. "Anyway, may seem a little sudden but we've been back together what, five weeks now? It's not long but I honestly don't want to waste another minute. I know you're the person I want to grow old with. You're the one for me." He smiled. "It may have taken me a divorce to figure that one out, but Jenny, I fucking love you."

"I love you too." I whispered.

"So, Bella wanted her daddy to her mammy something." He grinned, opening the box and showing me the ring. My eyes widened when I saw it, it was a lot larger now than the last time I saw it. It looked a lot more expensive. "What do you ask her?" Niall whispered to Bella.

"Marry daddy!" Arabella exclaimed, jumping up and down and taking the box from Niall hands, holding it out to me. "Please mammy." She bounced excitedly on her feet.

"Yeah, please mammy." Niall pouted.

"How could I say no?" I questioned, smiling brightly as Niall stood up. "Of course I'll marry you, Niall." I grinned. He smiled brightly and pulled me closer to him, pulling me to a tight embrace. I almost cried tears of happiness because this is all I want. As Niall picked up Arabella and held her between us, I knew these were the two people I want to spend my life with.

"I'm so happy for you two." Joanna smiled as she poured herself a glass of champagne.

"Give us all one, there are celebrations to be made." Niall just smiled down at me, not moving his eyes from mine.

"Hey, you said yes the first time." He grinned. "I had to ask you to be my girlfriend three times and to marry me, twice, the first time. Guess you're getting more fond of me." He chuckled.

"Well, this is the last time you'll be asking me anything special like this." I smiled, kissing him gently.

"With us, who knows." He chuckled as he gently took my finger and placed the ring on it.

"Second time lucky." I smiled, grabbing his cheek and kissing him roughly.

We pulled back after a few moments when Joanna handed us our glasses of champagne. "Want a glass?" She held one out to Arabella who was going to take it. She chuckled and handed her a sippy cup with milk.

"Okay, you gotta do cheers." Niall told Arabella, picking her up, informing her of what to do.

"Cheers to your second try at marriage and hopefully your last." Joanna chuckled, holding up her glass. We all clinked glasses - and sippy cups - before taking a drink.

"Here's to a new beginning." Niall grinned, leaning down and kissing me gently.
