Chapter 62
READER'S POV
After I went to bed, Clayton told me that he's going to take care of some things back in the human world to make sure that he takes me back and adopts Jamie. I hope everything goes well with the adoption process and I also hope Sarah lets me go home with my Father.
The next day, I was feeling exhausted because Levi and I were up all night playing video games. I needed a distraction and a break from school work for a little bit.
"*Yawn*..." Levi yawned as he came into the dining hall.
"Yo! Levi, you're late!" Mammon shouted.
"Yeah, you really are, Levi. You were up all night playing video games again, weren't you?" Asmo asked.
"He wasn't the only one...I was gaming last night, too..." I mumbled before I yawned a little.
"Yeah, I know. That sniper that was constantly hounding me in DDO was YOU, wasn't it?!"
"...Maybe..." I tried to hide my smirk before laughing.
"That's funny!" Levi pouted.
"Complaining won't help anything, Levi. You'll end up having to repeat a year if you're late too often. Now hurry up and eat," Satan told him.
"Though, uh, there isn't much food left at this point," Mammon pointed out as Beel and Raven kept eating and eating.
"That's weird. I haven't eaten anything, but my plate is already empty..." Levi spoke as he looked at his now empty plate.
"Hey, what's going on? There was food on my plate earlier...where'd it go?" Levi asked.
"Somebody's playing a prank on you," I joked but, I knew the answer to what had happened to his meal.
"A prank...right, yeah! this does seem like a prank! so I was right, then? Because I totally thought that might be it."
"*munch* *munch*...*munch* *munch* *gulp* ...Mmm, so good," Beel smiled as he wolfed down Levi's food.
"Wait, what am I thinking?! it was totally Beel! give me back my breakfast!" Levi shouted.
"Sorry, I already ate it. And throwing it back up would just be wasteful. ...*munch* munch*"
"Whatever, I don't care! spit out, now!"
"Whoa, no! YOU might not care, but I do! don't you DARE throw up, Beel!" Mammon warned him.
"Please don't do it," I told him before I offered Levi my food.
"Here Levi, want my food instead?"
"Are you some sort of angel...?" Levi asked with a twinkle in his eyes.
"Forget it, (Y/n). Ignore them. Their stupidity's contagious and you don't want to what they've got," Satan told me.
"(Y/n), you can have this mango-flavoured Little Devil's Gelatin Parfait if you want. What do you say? It's really gooood," Asmo smiled before Raven snuck out of my shadow.
"Don't mind if I do!" Raven spoke before he took a massive bite of the parfait.
"Raven! Bad dog!"
Raven whimpered and then he sat down on the ground with his ears down. Just then, Belpie walked into the room with a tired look on his face.
"...*yaaaawn* Man, I'm tired..." Belphie mumbled.
"Oh..." Levi and Asmo mumbled as they looked at Belphie with a surprised look.
Mammon and Satan sat in silence.
"Belphie..." Beel mumbled.
"Morning..." Satan mumbled.
"...Awkward...." Raven whispered.
"Y-yo, Belphie. You sure are up early, aren't ya?!" Mammon stuttered.
"No. He's barely got time to eat before heading to class," Beel told us.
"W-Well, that's all right! not like anyone's gonna make a fuss over it!" Mammon tried to make a conversation but, Raven was right, the atmosphere was a little...tense so no one didn't know what to say to their little brother after everything that happened yesterday.
"Good morning, Bephie," I spoke with a smile.
"Mmhm...morning..." Belphie replied.
"Belphie, have a seat here," Satan offered.
"Mm, thanks," Belphie smiled before sitting down next to Satan.
"Belphie, want some of this? it's real good," Mammon offered.
"...Though Beel already ate most of it," Levi pointed out.
"Belphie, I'll leave a fork for you right here," Asmo smiled.
"Mm, thanks. But no need to do all that. I can serve myself," Belphie told them with a small frown.
"...R-Right, yeah. 'Course you can!" Mammon chuckled.
"...I think I'm going to head to class," Levi spoke up as he stood up from his seat.
"Aren't you going to have breakfast, Levi?" Asmo asked him.
"Nah. I'll grab something at the cafeteria at school," Levi told them before he left the room.
"I'll go with you," Satan told him as he also stood up from his seat.
"Me too," Beel said as he also stood up from his seat.
"Oh. In that case...uh, maybe I'll head off too," Mammon said as he also stood up from his seat and followed after them.
"What about you, (Y/n)? coming with?" Asmo asked before I looked at Belphie.
"I'll catch up later, I'll got over with Belphie," I told him.
"No need to wait for me. I'll head to class when I'm done. Why don't you go with everyone else?" Belphie asked.
"Nope, I'll wait for you," I told him with a small smile.
"I told you, I'm fine..." Belphie spoke with a blush on his cheeks before Lucifer came into the dining room.
"Hurry up! you're going to be late!" Lucifer told us.
"Huh? but Lucifer, what about your breakfast?" Asmo asked.
"I finished eating a long time ago. Anyway, (Y/n)..." Lucifer spoke before looked at me. "There's going to be a birthday party for Diavolo at the Demon Lord's Castle coming up soon. And this year, you're coming too."
"Okay, got it," I nodded my head.
"No arguments? Great. That makes things a lot easier."
"Uh-oh. We really are going to be late if we don't get moving. I'm heading out!" Satan said as he quickly left the room.
"Ugh... Hey, Satan, wait for meee!" Asmo shouted.

Later on that day, it was break time and Belphie was sitting next to me and he said to me, "Hmm...I've got to say, I'm surprised."
"Surprised by what?" I asked as I looked up from my book.
"I thought for sure that if a human exchange student came to the Devildom, they'd be shaking in their boots down here. But you seem like you're right at home here, don't you?"
"I admit, it was a hard road getting to this point but, yeah, I've pretty much settled down now," I spoke with a smile.
"Ahaha! yeah, I bet. Compared to you, I'm not doing nearly as well."
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"I mean, you must have noticed, right? How everyone is so guarded around me? ...Well, maybe guarded isn't the right word, but...it feels like they're keeping their distance from me. You know what I mean? it's like they're walking on eggshells around me."
"It's no surprise, I mean you were the one who went berserk and threaten to destroy the human world," Raven told him before I glared at him and shoved him off my desk and then he landed on the ground with a thud.
"Ouch..." he mumbled.
"Ignore him, Belphie," I told him.
"No, he's right. I guess that's just the way it is, huh? After what I did, I shouldn't expect any less. I wonder if we can ever go back to the way things used to be..."
"Of course you can, yes. I know things are rough right now but, they will get better," I spoke softly to him.
"You're trying to make me feel better, aren't you?" Belphie asked me.
"If I am, is it working?" I asked him.
"Well, either way, I can't help noticing that you don't seem to be afraid of me...are you? After everything that I did, and everything I put you through..."
"Hey, given the situation you were in, I understand why you did what you did."
"That's almost too nice of you to say. Are you sure you should really be this nice to people? aren't you worried someone will end up taking advantage of you?" Belphie asked.
"If they do, I'll bite them!" Raven spoke from the shadows which made Belphie laugh.
"Still, it makes me happy you'd say that. Hehe...you really are an odd one, you know that?" Belphie told me.
"I've been called a lot of things but, odd? that one is getting old," I told him before I turned back to my book.

After classes were over for the day, I walked through the hallways with a worried expression my face.
"Are you worried?" Raven asked while sitting on my shoulder.
"Yeah. I mean, I get what Belphie did was wrong but still...is it necessary for everyone to be so guarded around him?" I asked.
"What did you expect? he was the one who committed treason and tried to kill you. It wouldn't surprise me that everyone else and the rest of his brothers are keeping their distance. I would do the same," Raven told me.
"Yeah but even so...he's sorry for what he did and I believe him."
"I still don't trust him. I mean this the same guy who tricked you," Raven told me with a small frown.
"I told you I forgive him, why can't you do the same?"
"As I said, I don't trust him."
"You're just as bad as everyone else around here. I'm beginning to think Mammon's stupidity is rubbing on you," I told him.
"It is not! take that back!" Raven argued before he nipped my ear.
"Ow! why you!" I frowned as I grabbed by the scrub of his neck.
"Ah! I'm sorry! I don't know what came over me!" Raven shouted with a panicked look.
"Raven, if you do that to me again, I'm going to use your fur for a new pair of slippers," I warned him with a dark aura seeping out of me.
"Ahh!! no! please don't do that!" Raven shouted in a panic before he started thrash around in my grip.
"Oh Look! Its (Y/n)!" I heard a familiar speak up and its Luke and Simeon.
"Hi guys," I spoke with a smile before dropping Raven onto the ground but luckily he turned into his big form.
"Hello there, (Y/n). We heard the big news! I understand you managed to get Lucifer and those brothers of his to make up?"
"Yeah, that's amazing. I mean...you're just a human, and yet you managed something like that," Luke complimented me.
"Yes, I have to say, it really is impressive. And I'm guessing that both Belphegor and Lucy are also glad things turned out the way they did," Simeon smiled.
"Pfft, Lucy?" I giggled at Lucifer's nickname.
"Lucy?!" Luke asked.
"Oh dear...sorry about that! Its an old habit of mine, calling him that. Micheal and I used to call Lucifer 'Lucy' every now and then. But do me a favour, and forget you ever heard that. Because if you don't, Lucifer will kill me for sure," Simeon explained.
"Simeon, could you be angry at him? is that it? Lucifer was keeping secrets from you. Deep inside, I bet you're livid!" Luke shouted.
Simeon laughed before Luke looked at me with a worried expression.
"I have to say, you look a little depressed to me. What's wrong? is something troubling you?" Luke asked.
"Yeah, you could say that."
"Well, why don't you try talking about it? Counseling our little lambs in their times of need is our job, after all," Simeon suggested.
"Well, its about Belphegor. His brothers are walking eggshells around him. They're keeping their guards up around him. I know they're concerned about everything that's happened but..." I trailed off.
"You can't exactly blame them for being a little guarded around him after everything he's put you and his brothers through," Raven commented.
"Wow...so Belphegor actually cares about that sort of stuff, huh?" Luke asked.
"That sort of stuff'? Luke, you make it sound as if its not important," Simeon commented.
"Think about it. That whole situation is temporary, right?" Luke asked.
"Those demons never take anything seriously. Mark my words...in a few days, it'll be like nothing ever happened. That's how they are," Luke told me which made Raven growl at that comment.
"Hmm, I don't know about that. I think that they're a bit more sensitive than you realise. And even if its true that the situation will resolve itself given time, that doesn't change the fact that things are difficult for Belphie right now," Simeon told him.
"If you have any advice, I'm all ears," I told him.
"Hmm, let's see..." Simeon mumbled as he had a little think.
"Ah, I have an idea. What do you say to this: you could serve as a bridge between Belphie and his brothers," Simeon suggested.
"Ooh, yeah! Nice idea!"
"Huh? a bridge?" I asked him before Luke explained to me.
"By serving as a bridge, you mean helping them communicate, right?" Luke asked.
"Yes. You see, these things turn out better when there's someone in the middle to help smooth things out. Even if two people don't feel comfortable talking to each other directly, if a third party is present, they can let down their guard and be more open. For example, Luke, whenever you want to ask Barbatos for a new recipe for some sort of cake or scone, you always make sure to take Solomon with you," Simeon explained to us.
"Well, I mean Barbatos is, you know...BARBATOS. We're talking about THE Barbatos here, Simeon!" Luke spoke with a hint of blush on his cheeks which made me sweat drop.
'I get the feeling Luke just wants to learn from the master and make Solomon learn some edible meals,' I thought to myself before Raven leapt onto my shoulder after turning back into his smaller form.
"You seem afraid of him, but he's actually not that scary, you know?" Simeon asked.
"I-I'm not AFRAID of him! Pff, as if I would be afraid of some demon!" Luke spoke with a frown but, we can see his shaking legs from here.
"Mmhm, okay Luke. Whatever you say," Simeon told me.
"Be sure to let me know how things end up going with Belphie, okay (Y/n)?" Simeon asked.
"Simeon! Hey, listen to me when I'm talking to you!" Luke shouted as he and Simeon left. I waved bye to them and I had a smile on my face.
'Simeon's right, maybe being a bridge between Belphie and his brothers might be a good idea after all. Hopefully, they can change their minds about him.'
With that thought in mind, I headed back to the mansion to find Belphie and make sure he makes up with his brothers.
A/n Hi guys! I know it's been a while since I've uploaded this book but its because I haven't been on Wattpad in a while and I've been busy outside of wattpad as well. Plus, I've been working on some original books on my Inkitt page as well. I'm going to try and see if I can upload some more chapters for this book.
