Chapter 60

READER'S POV

I shot my eyes open and I sat up to find myself at the bottom of the stairs that led to the attic. I was confused at first until I remembered Belphie going mad and he killed me in the process. I touched my face, my body and I even checked for a pulse to make sure that I didn't turn into a ghost.

'I'm alive...! oh thank goodness...but, what the hell just happened...? did I actually meet Lilith?' I asked myself

"...!....!"

"...and so...or what?!"

I heard voices coming from downstairs. It sounds like they were having an argument. I tried to hear from afar but, it was no use. I couldn't hear anything so I decided to see what all the commotion was all about. I got up from the ground and ran down the stairs. I came to a halt when I got the entrance hall.

"(Y/n)! Hang in there, (Y/n)!" Mammon shouted with a worried look.

"Ahahaha! Mammon, you look like such a fool! a human's about to kick the bucket, and yet here you are panicking as if it's the end of the world!" Belphie laughed.

"Belphie, you..." Lucifer frowned.

"Belphie, what have you done?!" Beel shouted in anger.

"This is awful. What's going to happen to (Y/n)?!" Levi asked.

"(Y/n) is a human. With injuries this bad, the chances of survival are..." Satan trailed off.

"Lucifer, can't we do something?!" Asmo asked.

"Gr...!"

"Yes...yes! perfect! That's exactly that look I was hoping to see on your face, Lucifer! AHAHAHAHA!"

"(Y/n), don't you die! (Y/n)...!"

"You...you bastard!!" Raven shouted before he charged at Belphie in anger before turned into his werewolf form.

While they fought, I saw someone in Mammon's arms and that person is...me. I wanted to tell the others that I'm alive but, I remembered Barbatos' warning if I were to reveal myself to them.

"What the...huh?! Over there, is that...?" Levi pointed out.

"(Y/n)?! wait, what's going on?!"

Raven pinned Belphie against the wall and then turned to look at me with a surprised look.

"There are two (Y/n)s...?" Satan asked with a confused look.

"What...?"

"So then, the (Y/n) that Mammon's holding is..." Beel trailed off before we heard Mammon shout.

"Wh...wh-wh-what the...?!"

The other me had disappeared from Mammon's arms all of a sudden.

"Mammon's (Y/n) disapeared..."

"What's going on...?" Beel asked.

"That (Y/n) that Mammon was holding was a fake, and this one here the real (Y/n)? Is that it?" Levi asked with a confused look.

"...No, that's not right," Satan asked.

"As to the question of which one is real...they both are."

"Wha? ...huh? ...wha? wh-wh-what?!" Mammon shouted with a confused look.

Raven released Belphie before he rushed over to me and he held my shoulders and sniffed my face and face.

"He's right, they've got the same scent!" Raven spoke happily before he turned back into his human form.

"(Y/n), for a moment there, I thought..."

"Well, you thought wrong, its going to take more than Belphie to get rid of me," I smiled before Raven flung his arms around me.

"Thank goodness!" Raven smiled as his tail wagged happily.

"...What the hell?" Belphie spoke up and then Raven growled angrily at him while standing in front of me protectively.

"I don't get what's going on here. How could a human have the willpower to cling to life like that? Well, whatever. Even willpower as strong as this has to have a limit, right?" Belphie smirked.

"Belphie...!"

"You'll have to get through me first!" Raven shouted before he charged at Belphie again.

"Out of my way, mutt!" Belphie shouted before he sent Raven flying.

"Time to die!"

"Wait, Belphie! Lilith, she-" I tried to tell him something but he wasn't listening.

"Don't you dare say Lilith's name, human! you don't have the right...!" Belphie shouted and then Raven merged from the shadows and grabbed Belphie.

"Belphie! listen to me! Lilith lived, and she was happy!"

Belphie stopped struggling when he heard me say this. Even Raven looked so confused about what I was talking about.

"...Wha?"

"She survived. She got reborn and she lived as a human," I told him.

"What're ya talkin' ab-"

"(Y/n), how do you...? how do you know that?" Lucifer asked me.

I told everyone the story that Lucifer told me about Lilith being saved by Lucifer to being reborn as a human.

"So then, in the Great Celestial War, Lilith didn't-" Beel's sentence got cut off when Mammon shouted.

"She didn't die?! That's what you're sayin?!"

"That's right, after she was reborn as a human, she lost all memory of her previous life and lived happily as a human. She lived happily until the day she died," I told them but, Belphie didn't look to happy.

"You're lying...! Lies! lies lies LIES, all of it! as if you could ever trust the word of a HUMAN!"

"...It's the truth," Lucifer told him.

"I don't believe it...Lilith..." Belphie had tears in the corner of his eyes.

"Even so, how is that you know all of this, (Y/n)?" Lucifer asked me before I smiled at him.

"You might not believe this but...Lilith told me herself."

"From Lilith...?!

"It's true that Lilith was reborn as a human, yes...however, you should not forget how much time has passed since then. Lilith has long since passed away," Lucifer told them.

"Okay, so there's no way (Y/n) could have heard it from Lilith, is there?" Asmo asked.

"Tell me the tuth, (Y/n). Who told you about Lilth?" Lucifer asked me.

"(Y/n) isn't lying," A familiar voice spoke up. We turned to look to see Diavolo, Barbatos and Clayton.

"(Y/n) spoke the truth."

"Diavolo...?!" Lucifer looked surprised to see him.

"The truth? but how...?" Levi asked.

"Also, yet another fact has been made clear as well...(Y/n)...you are a distant descendant of the human Lilith."

My eyes widen when he told me this and everyone in the room was shocked to hear this especially the brothers.

"What...?" Asmo asked.

Lucifer looked shocked and then he turned to look at me.

"(Y/n) is...Lilith's descendant?" Beel asked.

"...What?" Belphie asked.

"Lord Diavolo ordered me to look into the matter, and so I did. It wasn't easy to trace down Lilith's lineage, but there can be no doubt, it's true."

"Really...?" I asked with a surprised look.

"So it never dawned on you, then...I see. Have you ever had visions of Lilth's past memories? I'm guessing you have," Diavolo asked before I had a little think.

"Wait, now that you mention it...I have..." I told him before I remembered that day when Lucifer saved Lilith's life.

"I remember one vision where I saw Lucifer pleading and begging you to save Lilith's life. I even remember what you said to her before you said goodbye to her for good," I told Lucifer and I proved by repeating the last words he said to her.

"'No matter how far apart we may be, no matter how much time passes, even if someday you're no longer yourself...I'll never forget you. And I'll always pray that you find happiness...always...I love you, Lilith."

"Those words...those were the very last words I said to Lilith before she was taken away. (Y/n), how could-"

"Being a former angel, Lilith may have retained some of er celestial powers deep inside, even after being reborn as a human. Those powers, as well as her memories, must have passed down to her descendants, from generation to generation," Diavolo told me while Lucifer looked at me.

"...Lilith...Lilith...!" Lucifer spoke before he hugged me tightly. "I don't believe it...!"

"Hey, Lucifer...!" I spoke.

"Is this for real...?" Mammon asked.

"Lord Diavolo, is it really true?!" Levi asked happily.

"I looked into (Y/n)'s ancestry once the selection paperwork for the exchange program came in. Human lifetimes are short, after all. So while I did have to trave back far into the mists of time, I was able to verify it. There is no doubt: (Y/n) is a distant descendant of Lilith," Diavolo smiled.

"(Y/n)...!" Mammon grinned.

"This is so hard to believe...who would've thought-" Beel didn't know what to say until he and Mammon joined in the hug.

"This is like something out of a dream...!" Asmo grinned.

"Can this really be happening?! Like...this isn't an anime or a game...it's really real!" Levi smiled.

"I suddenly feel incredibly warm...and happy. Do you think it's because I was born of Lucifer's emotions? I wonder..." Satan asked he and the others joined in the group hug.

"Guys...can't breathe!" I shouted.

"Now, now, everyone, don't throw your arms around (Y/n) all at once. Think about how it would feel being mobbed by all of you like that. (Y/n) must be surprised as well," Barbatos told them.

"Belphrgor? don't you want to hug (Y/n)?" Diavolo asked Belphegor who was watching the whole scene with a small frown.

"...This can't be..."

"What's wrong?" I asked after the others released me.

"It can't be...it can't, it can't, it can't! You're telling me Lilith wasn't dead, that she was reborn as a human...? And that this human is actually a distant descendant of the human Lilith...? Impossible...there's just no way...I...I REFUSE to believe that...!" Belphie shouted in anger which made Raven stand in front of me protectively.

"There's no way that (Y/n) would just happen to be chosen for the exchange program! it's all too perfect!"

"Belphie..." Beel spoke softly.

"Someone must be trying to trick me, trying to lure me into a trap! this has to be it! Well I don't buy it! you can't fool me like that!"

"You really won't believe it?" I asked him.

"No, I won't...as if I could ever believe a story like that!" Belphie shouted.

"It's the truth, Belphegor. (Y/n) is a distant descendant of Lilith," Diavolo told him and we all knew that Diavolo can tell when a person's lying too.

"......." Belphie didn't know what to say when Diavolo told him this.

"Belphie, you can't hate humans forever," Asmo told him.

"He's right. Lilith was reborn as a human. She always wanted to spend more time in the human world, so I'm sure she lived a happy life," Satan told them before Belphie looked at me.

"...That's true...Lilith...Lilith! I...I...*sob*..." Belphie spoke before he fell onto his knees and started crying.

"...Pff, you fool. You're s'posed to be HAPPY, y'know? I mean, who actually CRIES at a time like this, huh? ...*sob*...*sniffle*" Mammon as tears spilled out of his eyes.

I approached Belphie and knelt in front of him. I placed my hand on his shoulder and then he looked at me with tears spilling out of his eyes.

"I'm so sorry...it was my fault, it was all my fault...if I hadn't been so interested in humans, Lillith would've never ended up with them. And if I hadn't invited Lilith down to the human world with me, she never would've met that guy! ...And during the Celestial War, I couldn't protect her either...I was so close, right beside her...Lilith was right there! I didn't notice...I wasn't able to protect her...It's all my fault...all of it..."

"Oh Belphie..." I spoke softly.

"I'm sorry...Lilith..." Belphie cried before I gently wrapped my arms around him. Belphie wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his face in my shoulder while crying his eyes out.

"Shh...it's okay Belphie..." I spoke softly to him while stroking his hair to comfort him.

"Belphie..." Beel spoke.

"I never know you felt that way, Belphie..."

"No. You've got it wrong. It wasn't your fault, Belphie. I wish I'd told you that sooner," Lucifer told him which made Belphie look at him with a surprised look.

"Lucifer...!"

"Hold on..." I released Belphie and then we both stood up from the ground before I turned to Diavolo. "You said you looked into my ancestry right? does that mean...you know who my parents are?"

"Yes, I found out who they are and they left you. But, it's not my story to tell."

I looked at them in confusion before Clayton stepped forward.

"It's mine," Clayton told me before he moved his hood off his head and I was surprised to see his features.

He has the same (e/c) eyes like mine and (h/c) like mine as well. Clayton smiled at me sadly and he said to me, "I've waited a long time for this day... my daughter."

My eyes widened in shock when he called me that.

"You're...my father...?" I asked with a shocked expression.

"I thought your scents were similar but it never occurred to me that you'd be..." Raven trailed off before looking between me and my father.

"I'm sorry it took so long for me to come back to you, (Y/n). But I had my reasons," Clayton told me.

"You had your reasons...?" I asked before I slapped him which shocked the others.

"Why...? why?! WHY!?" I shouted in anger.

"Why did you leave me at the orphanage for so long!? I've waited and waited for you and Mum to come and get me like you promised! Do you have any idea what I've gone through since you left me?! I've been seeing demons left and right! being hunted down by them and I even had those kids at the orphanage for calling me a freak because of my ability to see them! they even said that you left me because I'm a curse and you two didn't want m e! do you have any idea how hurtful that was to hear that from them?!" I yelled in anger with tears spilling out of my eyes.

"Oh (Y/n)..." Clayton spoke softly.

"Dammit...I don't know if I should be happy or angry at you right now....why didn't you want me? did you ever love me at all?" I asked him while trying to wipe away my tears before I felt arms wrap themselves around me.

"Forgive me...I didn't mean to leave you alone all this time. Your mother and I promised that we would come back for you but...it was too dangerous and so we thought you'd be safer, away from us."

"Why...?" I asked.

"Remember how I said that you and I are special?"

"Yeah...what about it...?"

"What Diavolo said speaks the truth, you are a distant relative of Lilith but, that's not the only thing you've inherited."

Clayton pulled away from me and he told me, "You're not just a descendant of Lilith, you're also a descendant of the Demon Tamers."

My eyes widen when he told me this because I remember Diavolo telling me about them before but, they were all wiped out many centuries ago.

"What?! how is that possible?" Mammon shouted with a shocked look.

"Are you saying...you're one of them?" Raven asked Clayton.

"Yes, one of our ancestors survived the massacre and went into hiding. Since then, their power has been passed down generation to generation. Why do you think (Y/n) was able to see demons and communicate with them this whole time?" Clayton told them with a smile.

"So that means...I'm not a jinx or a curse?" I asked him.

"No, you've got amazing abilities that no one else is blessed with. Don't let anyone else tell you that," Clayton smiled and then I chuckled but I stopped smiling afterwards.

"Wait, if you knew that I was special...why did you and mum leave me?"

"We had to protect you. Your grandfather, your Mother's father, hates Tamers, just like his ancestors. He still had this crazy belief that we're demons themselves but, your mother didn't believe in this. She ran away from home and went into hiding. One day, I saved her from a demon and long story short, we fell in love. We had to keep our relationship hidden from your Grandfather and when she got pregnant with you, we had to go into hiding."

"Why?" I asked him.

"Despite being a relative of the hunters' organisation, your mother was a seer. She was able to see things into the past and future. She saw a future where your grandfather had found us and he made you a hunter, a killing machine that would wipe out the entire demon race. We knew that we had to change the future before it could happen. We did everything we could to keep ourselves hidden, even after you were born. Your mother so badly wanted to be a good mum to you but, she and I both knew that if you stayed with us, you would be in danger, so..."

"You...left me at the orphanage to protect me..." I finished that sentence.

"Yes. It was the hardest decision of our lives but, as I said, we were only trying to protect you."

"And Mum...what happened to her? why isn't she with you...?" I asked but I had a feeling I knew the answer.

"...I'm sorry, (Y/n)...after we left you at the orphanage, your grandfather found us and he tried to get the information out of us about where we had hidden you but, we wouldn't tell him. Haley she...she sacrificed herself to save me so that one day I would be here to tell you everything."

I felt tears in the corner of my eyes and I started crying because not only did I have a crazy grandfather but he also killed my mother.

"I'm so sorry, (Y/n)...but, I'm here now and that's all that matters," Clayton smiled at me before petting my head.

Tears continued to fall out of my eyes and then I wrapped my arms around Clayton and I held him tightly.

"Don't leave me alone again...please...Dad..."

I felt his arms wrap themselves around me and he told me, "I will never leave you again, that I can promise."
