Chapter 6
READER'S POV
The next day, it was my first day attending classes at the academy. I still couldn't believe that I was chosen to be an exchange student after being chased by those demons who wanted to eat me. But, on a brighter note, I wasn't the only human here so I guess that was good news. Maybe while I'm here, I might make some new friends as long as they don't eat me. Speaking of which, I was walking through the corridors to get to my first class of the day which was art but then, I heard two demons gossiping nearby.
"Hey check it out. That's the human that everyone's been talking about. You think it's true what they say, that Mammon became a baby sitter?"
"Well, if so, then I'd say that actually works out great, doncha think? if we wait and strike when he's not paying attention, he'll never figure out it was us."
'Uh oh, not again!' I thought to myself.
"C'mon, we should devour the human before Beel does."
I sped walked away from the demons before they could chase me until someone called out to me.
"Hey you there."
I stopped in my tracks and I turned in the direction who called out to me. I saw a white haired man with grey eyes and he's wearing the school's uniform.
"You talking to me?" I asked him.
"That's right, I'm talking to you. The human with that frightened, tormented look on your face that demons love so much."
"I wasn't scared," I lied to him since I was petrified.
"Oh yeah, sure you were. You were practically screaming 'Come and eat me! I'm scrumptious!'"
I glared at him when he said this before he smiled at me.
"Your name is (Y/n), isn't it?"
"That's right."
"This D.D.D. here belongs to you, right? I saw you drop it just now. Here take it."
I took my D.D.D from him and I thanked him for giving it back but, I was a little suspicious of him since he might be a demon too.
"Haha, what's with that look? There's no need to be suspicious."
"I can't help it. I've already had my fair share of demons and I do not want to get devoured by one. Who are you?"
"My name is Solomon. I'm an exchange student from the human world, just like you."
I sighed in relief to hear that because I glad to know who the other human was and I was thankful that he's not like one of those demons who thought about chasing me and eating me. But then again....
"How do I know you're not a demon in disguise? Are you really human?" I asked him with a frown since I was still keeping my guard up around him.
"Haha, good question. Honestly, there are times when even I'm not sure."
I looked at Solomon with a confused look.
"Long ago, I obtained a ring of of wisdom - a gift from a certain someone in a VERY high position. And, drunk on it's power, I used it to form pacts with 72 different demons, becoming a wicked sorcerer... that is, if you believe the stories people tell about me. Regardless, I'm fairly sure that I am indeed still human, though it may not seem like it."
I was a bit surprised to hear that this guy is a human who using magic because the way he talked about himself almost reminded me of myself since I can see demons and hear them talk as well.
"You might not believe me when I tell you this but, back in the human world, I can see demons and speak to them as well."
"Really?" Solomon asked me in a surprised tone.
"Yeah. I'm not sure why but, it's always been that way for me since I was born. The other humans can't see them except for me. The friendly demons in the human world love me because I give them food since some of the little demons struggle to fend for themselves especially the runts."
"Oh, you've got a kind-hearted soul maybe that's why some of the demons around here want to eat you."
"Please don't say that, I've already had my fair share of demons chasing after me. If hadn't been for some the friendly demons protecting me, I wouldn't be here right now and the last thing I need is something jinxing my luck around here."
Solomon chuckled and he said to me.
"Okay, well, all I can say is; good luck and be careful."
Solomon checked the time and then he said to me.
"...Uh oh, I'd better get going. See you around, (Y/n). Take care of yourself."
I waved bye to Solomon before I headed to the classroom. I was humming happily after meeting Solomon since I feel better knowing that there's a human who is also special like me.
"Good morning, (Y/n)," Lucifer spoke as he walked towards me.
"Good morning, sir," I greeted him with a smile.
"You've become quite the celebrity here, haven't you?"
"Unfortunately yes..." I mumbled before Lucifer told me.
"Looks like you made it through the night without being eaten. Good for you. Still, there's no guarantee that you'll make it to tomorrow."
I sweat dropped a little when he told me this and I thought to myself.
'Why do I get the feeling that this guy doubts that I'm going to make it through the one year here at the academy.'
"Was that Solomon I saw you talking to earlier?" Lucifer asked me and I nodded my head.
"You and he are the only two students from the human world here. Seeing as you're both human, it's fine if you associate with him, but know that he can't be trusted."
"Why?" I asked him.
"He may be a mere human, but he has a ring imbued wisdom, and he wields powerful magic. He's the type of man who will try to subjugate even a powerful, greater, demon if he gets the chance."
'Speaking of chances, this might be the perfect time to ask him.'
I thought to myself after remembering what Leviathan said to me.
Flashback...
"Lucifer has something that Mammon wants, something he'd kill to get..."
"And what would that be?" I asked him.
"Mammon's credit card, Lucifer took away from him."
'Why am I not surprised?' I thought to myself before Levi spoke up after seeing the reaction on my face.
"Hey, I see that look on your face, and I know you're thinking. 'A Credit Card? Pfft, why would he care so much about something like that?'"
"That's not what I was thinking but, why is Mammon obsessed with a credit card?" I asked him.
"You have got no idea just how much he depends on that thing. Let's see, what did he used to call it again? 'My one true love'? It was something like that. It was like he thought it was a woman. He probably named it. I bet he even slept with it. Gross."
I quickly covered my mouth to stop myself from laughing when he said this because who in the hell would name their card and call it their one true love?
"Seriously?" I asked him while holding back my giggles
"I'm not kidding. That idiot used it constantly. Never stopped. Eventually, Lucifer had enough of his behaviour, so he confiscated it. There's nothing Mammon wouldn't do if it meant getting his credit card back, I'm sure of it."
"Okay, so what's the plan?"
"I want you to talk to Lucifer and find out where he's hidden it."
"What?! hell no! that guy is scary when he gets mad! Plus, if he finds out that I'm trying to find out where he's hidden Mammon's credit card, he'll have me for lunch never mind the other demons around here," I told him with a frown.
" Relax, just make sure to be subtle, like it happened to come up naturally. Make sure you do a good job, or else!"
"Fine but, if I get eaten, my ghost is coming back to haunt you for the rest of your life," I warned Levi.
Flashback ends...
"What is it, (Y/n)? Is there something you want to ask me?" Lucifer asked me after I snapped out of my thoughts.
"Actually, there is. Can you tell me more about Mammon?"
"Mammon? Why would you want to know about him all of a sudden?"
"Well, since he's my guardian and all, I thought it would be a good idea to get to know him better," I spoke in a convincing tone since I couldn't risk Lucifer finding out that I'm after Mammon's credit card.
"That's understandable. Mammon is my brother. I don't want to say anything unkind about him. So, I'll try to be sparing in my criticism."
"Go right ahead."
"*Ahem* He's pure scum. The scummiest sort of scum. Pure, unfiltered, disgusting scum to the point that I'm embarrassed to call him a fellow demon, much less my brother."
I sweat dropped when he said those things and I thought to myself.
'I'm sorry I asked now...'
"So, any particular reason you asked or were you just curious?" Lucifer asked me in a serious manner.
"To be honest with you, I'm getting sick and tired of him shouting at me and commanding me like I'm his servant so I was wondering if he has any weaknesses that I can use against him."
"Are implying that you think I know his weaknesses, and can exploit them when I like? Because I suppose that is true in a way. However, that's not the only reason he can't say no to me."
"Oh?"
"As long as we're on the subject, it just so happens that I've taken one particular weakness of his and frozen it."
Just then the school bell rang and then Lucifer said to me.
"That's the first bell. Class is about to start. Time to get going. You better hurry too. You don't want to be late on your first day here."
"Okay, see ya."
I told him before I headed to my first class of the day. I smirked a little and then I thought to myself.
'Thank you Lucifer...now all I have to do is to let Levi know about this and we can find Mammon's credit card and then I will make a pact with him.'
