Chapter 54

READER'S POV

After Diavolo left, we were still reeling from the events that took place earlier tonight. Beel sat on the couch with his head in his hands while I sat on the bed, remembering what Diavolo told me about Belphie and what might be happening to him. Raven sat next to me while he gently rubbed my back to comfort me.

"Ugh, everyone's so down...Come on, it'll be okay! Don't look so sad! I mean, it's not as if Diavolo is going to make Belphegor into his next meal or anything, right?" Luke spoke while trying to cheer us up.

"...He might," Beel mumbled.

"Wait, really...? you've got to be kidding! Anyway, I can understand why Beel would be depressed. It's only natural. But why do YOU look so glum, (Y/n)?" Luke asked me.

"I mean, with a frown like that I'd almost think you'd been plucked out of the human world and dragged to the Devildom against your will!"

"That's exactly what happened," Beel told him before turning his attention to me.

"I guess it came as a real shock to you, (Y/n). Everything with Belphie...hearing about how he hated humans and all," Beel told me.

"Why does Belphie hate humans?" I asked him.

"That's a good question," Raven agreed.

"Well, about that...it's not your fault that Bephie hates humans. As for why he ended up like that, Lucifer would know better than anyone else," Beel told me.

I looked away and squeezed my hands together while they were resting on my lap.

"(Y/n), you know what we have to do," Raven told me.

"Raven...I can't, if I go back there, chances are, I will make everything worse. It's all my fault that this mess happened. Lucifer was right, I kept sticking my nose into people's business when I should have stayed out of it," I spoke with tears in the corner of my eyes.

"Hey, don't say that. None of this is your fault."

"But it is, Raven. The kids back in the orphanage were right, I'm a jinx and a curse. Everything I touch turns to ash and everyone around me avoids me like the plague. I should have stayed away Belphie when I had the chance," I told him as tears spilled out of my eyes.

"Hey, don't say that," Raven knelt in front of me and he held onto my shoulders.

"You are not a jinx or a curse. You'e a special human who has been blessed with the ability to see us demons in the human world. You're also a kind person who sees the good in people especially us demons, well, except for the ones who are always trying to eat you. But my point is, none of this is your fault. If anyone is at fault, it's Belphegor. He was the one who was against the idea, went mad and got himself locked up by his own brother. You were only trying to do what was right at the time," Raven told me.

"He's right, you know?" Beel spoke before I looked at him.

"If you hadn't met Belphie or tried to help him, I wouldn't have known where he was the whole time," Beel told me.

"Beel..." I spoke softly.

"Raven is right about one thing," Luke spoke before we looked at him.

"I'm against demons and I did tell you they shouldn't be trusted but, they warm up to you. If they hadn't, Raven wouldn't be here right now," Luke told me.

"Is the almighty Luke saying that he might be wrong about us demons?" Raven spoke with a smirk.

"Don't even go there! I still don't trust you!" Luke shouted while we chuckled.

"Thanks Raven, you know how to cheer me up," I spoke with a smile while petting his head which caused his ears and tail to pop out.

"Does that mean I get a reward?" Raven asked while his tail wagged in excitement.

"You'll get one later, right now, I need to talk to Lucifer," I spoke with a determined look before standing up from the bed.

"Are you serious? the next time he sees you, he might kill you, you know?" Beel told me.

"WHAT?!" Luke shouted.

"Don't worry, she's got nothing to worry about. I can protect her," Raven spoke with a smirk.

"Beel, you know as I do that we can't just sit here doing nothing. Besides, I want to know why Belphie hates humans so much."

"You're crazy..." Luke told me.

"She's right...I say we go back to the House of Lamentation," Beel told us.

"What?! Is that safe?!" Luke asked with a worried look.

"I don't know. But either way...I need to proper talk with Lucifer. Also, I've got a feeling that if (Y/n)'s there, things will work out somehow," Beel smiled which made me blush.

"You've got a feeling things will work out? That doesn't sound very reassuring."

"Even if Lucifer or Mammon or one of the others gets so mad that they fly off the handle and attack, it'll be okay. Because no matter what happens, I'll be there to protect you!" Beel spoke with a smile.

"And me. You should have seen my battle form," Raven spoke with a proud smirk.

"Was that supposed to make (Y/n) feel LESS worried...?"

"Let's go, (Y/n). We're heading back to the House of Lamentation," Beel offered his hand to me and I nodded my head and took it.

"Hey! J-Just don't blame me for whatever happens to you, okay?!" Luke shouted as we left Purgatory Hall.

Once we got back to the House of Lamentation, everything is quiet and no one was around. The three of us got to the library and then Beel spoke up.

"It sure is quiet...Maybe everyone's still asleep?"

"Well, who do we have here? Had enough of running away from home? That was even faster than I expected..." I heard someone speak up and it's Asmo.

"Asmo, is Lucifer in his room?" Beel asked.

"Excuse me? Aren't you getting ahead of yourself? Isn't there something you'd like to say to the rest of us first? (Y/n), how about you?" Asmo asked.

"I'm sorry," I spoke with my head lowered.

"Hehe. There we go. Nicely done. Very cooperative of you. I'd be lying if I said if I said I didn't find that attractive. Still, do you really think you can fix everything with an apology?" Asmo asked before he leaned closer to me.

"Listen, I'm just going to come out and ask you this, (Y/n). When we were alone together, were you thinking about Belphie? Because if so, I don't know if I can accept that," Asmo spoke with a frown.

"No, I swear on my life I wasn't thinking of Belphie," I tried to convince him.

"You weren't? Reeeallly?" Asmo asked before he smiled. "Oh well, whatever. I'll take you at your word this time."

I sighed in relief before Raven shoved Asmo away from him. "Hey! you were too close just now!"

"Ooh~ scary, scary~" Asmo joked before he told us where Lucifer was.

"So, you wanted to know about Lucifer? He's been holed up inside his room ever since Lord Diavolo left. But listen up. Before talking to Lucifer, you need to deal with Levi and Mammon. And I believe Satan wanted to have a word with you, too," Asmo told me.

"Do you know where I can find Satan?" I asked him.

"I think he was in the planetarium earlier. Why don't you try looking for him there?"

"Thanks Asmo."

"Oh, and Beel, I'd like you to come see me in my bathroom later. I'm going to give you a good scolding," Asmo smirked.

"Why the bathroom?" Beel asked.

"No questions! Just be there!" Asmo told him before Raven and I left the room.

"Ugh...I don't even wanna imagine what Asmo is going to do to him," Raven mumbled as we made our way to the planetarium while I chuckled.

"(Y/n). So you're back. This has all been a huge disaster for you too, huh? First, you're taken from the human world and brought here with zero warning. And then, on top of that, you end up getting caught up in one brotherly quarrel after another...Though in your case, you take it upon yourself to stick your nose into our problems. That's why you get caught up in them," Satan told me.

"Yeah, it's been one hell of a rollercoaster ride," I commented.

"Eh, it's not like I have room to criticze other people in that regard, though. "

"You do have a point there..." I mumbled.

"The attic has always been Lucifer's private sanctuary, you see. He's never allowed anyone else in there. I figured it was probably packed full of sentimental items from back in his Celestial Realm days. Things he couldn't bear to throw away. But I definetely didn't think that he would keep his own brother in there as a prisoner. Everybody has always told me that I'm so much like Lucifer, but I never could've imagined that he was doing something like that," Satan told me.

"You had no idea what he was doing until now? Even though you were supposed to be a part of him?" Raven asked.

"I'm not physic if that's what you're thinking," Satan spoke wth a frown before he told me.

"Lucifer thinks that there's no problem he can't handle on his own, so he keeps everything to himself. He never tells us anything. Then, he deals with whatever it is on his own, in whatever way he pleases. He's always like that. it's so irritating," Satan grumbled that last part.

"Still, it's not surprising that he wouldn't tell me anything, is it? Considering I had nothing but hatred for him. And I do the exact thing he does. I keep things to myself, deal with it on my own. Do what I want with no regard for anyone."

"Hey, that's not true," I told him.

"...Thanks," Satan mumbled with a hint of blush on his cheeks.

"So, I'm asking you to go to him, (Y/n). You helped me before...Now help, Lucifer," Satan told me and I nodded my head before Raven and I left the planetarium.

The next stop is Mammon's room. I apporached his door and knocked on it a few times. At first there was no answer and then I knocked the second time.

"No one's heeere! The Great Mammon's not hooome!" Mammon shouted.

"Mammon, open the door," I told him.

"I can't hear youuu. I can't hear people who keep secrets from me and never tell me anythiiiing! Just so ya know, I'm not speakin to you EVER again. Apologise all you want. You'll only be wastin' your breath," Mammon told me.

My eyes widen before Mammon continued, "Go back to the human world, and don't come back here until you've changed your ways! you dummy! you great big dummy!"

"Now that's just being childish," Raven commented.

"Mammon, I'm going to beat the door until you let me in!" I told him before I starting banging on the door.

"D'ah, yikes! Hey, quit it! quit it! quit it! You tryin' to destroy my door or somethin'?!"

"Mammon, I'd open the door if I were you, she's not gonna stop," Raven smirked before he finally gave in.

"Ugh, fine! Okay! OKAY, I'm comin'! I'll open the door! Then you'll stop, right?!" Mammon shouted before I stopped hitting the door and then Mammon opened the door.

Mammon didn't say anything at first before he let me and Raven into his room. I sat next to Mammon while Raven sat across from us but, Mammon hasn't said anything.

"Um...Mammon?" I spoke but he didn't say anything.

"Mr. The Great Mammon, sir?" I called him which made Raven look at me funny.

"I had to say something," I told him.

"Yoo-hooo! Mammon!" I called out to him but he still didn't respond.

"Right that's it, you asked for it!" I shouted before I tickled his sides.

"Hey, what're you...? Stop...pff...! PFFAHAHAHA! Grh...guh...he...hehehehehehe! Qu-Qu-Quit it!" Mammon laughed while he tried to make me stop tickling him.

"So does that mean you're going to talk to me now or are you going to keep ignoring me?!" I asked while I tickled his sides.

"O-Okay, okay okay, okay! I'll talk! I'LL TALK! Just stop alreadyyyy!" Mammon shouted and then I stopped tickling him.

"...Just so we're clear, I'm really mad at you! why didn't you tell me anything? I mean, it's you and me! Or is what we have nothin' more than...y'know..."

"Nothing more than what?" I asked him.

"You know, nothin' more than...whatever, why do I gotta explain everything to you?!" Mammon complained which earned an angry growl from Raven.

"Watch it! I'm still here!" Raven shouted which made Mammon shivered in fear.

"I'm sorry..." Mammon mumbled before Raven moved away from him and then he sat back down.

"Listen, here's the thing. The very first demon you made a pact with after comin' to the Devildom was me. Which means I was your first guy! You know that, right! ...And that's what makes this all the harder to swallow."

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"I mean, was it all for Belphie? Ya made a pact with me...for him?"

"Oh Mammon...is that what you think?" I asked him.

"Well...I mean, it's not like I don't trust you or think you're an awful person or anythin'!"

I gave him a sad look because I felt awful for keeping quiet about Belphie and not telling him or the others.

"Dammit! Hey, don't look at me like that! C'mon, that's playin' dirty! ...So, what is it you wanna do? And NO more secrets this time! Tell me everything!" Mammon demanded.
