Chapter 52

READER'S POV

After Lucifer found out the truth about what he did to Belphie, Beel and I along with Belphegor and an injured Raven, we left the house. Right now, we're walking in the streets and we had no idea where we were going to go now that we've left the others behind.

"AHAHAHAHAHA!" Belphegor laughed as we walked through the street.

"Belphie, come on, it's not that funny," Beel told him.

"You saw the look on Lucifer's face, right? The one he had when you were said you were leaving? Ahahaha! It was classic, am I right?! It must have been a real shock having you turn against him. His loyal, faithful brother Beel...heheh..."

Beel didn't say anything after Belphegor said this.

"Still, are you sure you're okay with all of this, Beel? Taking off and leaving the House of Lamentation?" Belphegor asked.

"Well, either way, we can't go back there. Not anymore," Beel frowned before he turned to me.

"Sorry for getting you caught up in all of this, (Y/n). I thought you'd be better off with us. If you'd stayed in that house any longer, who knows what Lucifer would've done to you..."

"Hey, I'm thankful that you brought me and Raven along with you. Like you said, if I had stayed behind Lucifer would've finished me off."

"She's right...things would have gotten a lot worse. Especially in my condition," Raven replied as we looked at him.

"Speaking of which how are you feeling?" Beel asked.

"I've been better...but one thing for certain, I am never fighting Lucifer again...unless it's necessary, *chuckles* ow!" Raven joked at that last part but he was still sore.

"Hey, don't try and move so much, you're still hurt," I spoke with a frown which earned a chuckle from the twins.

"I know that. This is all yours and your brother's fault you know," Raven glared at Beel and I looked at them with a confused expression until Beel explained himself.

"It was all supposed to be nothing more than a practical joke. I can't believe it led to this."

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"You must've thought it was pretty strange too, huh? All of us disappearing like that, one  by one, until it was only you and Lucifer there alone," Beel told me.

"Wait, you were in on this too?" I asked Raven.

"Guilty as charged."

"Oh I don't believe this..." I mumbled with a frown.

"That wasn't a coincidence? Interesting, whose idea was it? It couldn't have been yours, right?" Belphegor asked.

"Satan was the one who suggested it. At the time, we thought that you were trying to make pacts with us because you wanted to gain Lucifer's approval. So, we if we could force you two into a situation where you were alone, you'd open up to each other, hopefully leading to something good. Then, Levi and the others took the plan and ran with it. They started talking about how it would be fun to spice things up by turning it into a horror sort of thing..."

"Well that backfired. (Y/n) almost got killed and so did I," Raven complained.

"Was that really nesscessary?" I asked Beel.

"Well, I was against it, personally...And after all that sitting around hiding, I'm hungry," Beel told me before his stomach growled.

"Ooh, there it is...I'm hungry! It's been so long since I've heard you say that, Beel! And now you're making me hungry, too. Also, I can't help but noticing something smells good," Belphegor spoke with a small smile.

Raven raised his head and he sniffed the air too. "Hey you're right, I'm smelling something nice too."

"Wait, I know that smell," Beel spoke with a smile. "That's the aroma of one of Simeon's BLT devil sandwiches, I'm sure of it."

Sure enough, there he was, the angel himself was standing right there with a bag of food in his hands. He looked shocked to see us especiall Belphegor.

"Wh...bu...huh?! I don't believe it! Belphegor?! Long time, no see!"

"Well, if it isn't Simeon. And he's got a paper bag with one of his BLT devil sandwiches inside. That explains the aroma," Belphegor spoke with a smile.

"Belphie, I heard you were back in the human world on the exchange program. Are you back for a visit or something? Also, Raven, what on earth happened to you?" Simeon asked before he looked at Raven.

"Long story..." He mumbled.

"You know, Simeon, this is perfect timing. I actually have a favour to ask. What do you say to letting us stay at Purgatory Hall with you?" Belphegor asked.

"Also, I'll take that BLT devil sandwich you've got there, thanks," Beel asked with a twinkle in his eyes.

"Sure...but soething tells me that there's more to this than you're letting on," Simeon told us before we headed to Purgatory Hall.

After we got there and while I was tending to Raven's injuries, Beel explained the situation to Simeon and the others.

"...So that's the situation," Beel finished with his explaination.

"Hmm. Essentially, what we have here is a brothers' quarrel on a grand scale. Does that about sum it up?" Simeon asked and I nodded my head.

"That's a mild way of putting it," Solomon commented before I tightened the bandage around Raven's torso.

"How's that buddy? it's not too tight is it?"

"No, it's fine. Thank you," Raven told me before he laid down on the bed.

"Okay, I mostly get what's going on now, but what I want to know is...why'd you have to bring them back to MY room, Simeon?!" Luke shouted.

"Here we go," Raven and I mumbled.

"It's only fair, Luke. Beel took you in and let you stay in his room when you ran away, didn't he?"

"Grr," Luke grumbled.

"Anyway, I have to say I can't believe that Lucifer actually locked you up in the attic, Belphegor," Solomon spoke.

"Indeed. I thought for sure you were up in the human world. Well, regardless, I'm a free demon again, thankfully. The attic room was sealed with a curse that could only be broken through the combined powers of all six of my brothers. So it occursed to me that if (Y/n) made pacts with each of them and gained the ability to use their powers, then it would be posisble to lift the curse without Lucifer's consent. I wasn't horribly optimistic that it was possible, but I guess the fact that I'm out of the attic is proof enough that it was," Belphegor explained himself.

"Hang on, you knew that there was a 50/50 chance it wasn't going to work and yet, you let (Y/n) made those pacts anyway?!" Raven shouted angrily.

"Don't get mad at me, I knew she had you to protect her anyway," Belphegor spoke with a smirk while Raven glared and growled at him.

"I have to say I'm impressed, (Y/n). You actually made a pact with Lucifer of all demons. Well done."

"...Wait, (Y/n) made a pact with Lucifer?" Solomon asked with a shocked look.

"Is this true?"

"Guys, I didn't make a pact with him," I told him.

"What...?" Belphegor mumbled. "You didn't make a pact? Then how was the curse sealing the room lifted?"

"How should I know? I'm not a wizard," I told him.

"Belphie, what exactly happened in there?" Beel asked him.

"That's what I wanna know too," Raven commented.

"Well, I was up in the attic napping, when suddenly I thought I heard someone call my name..."

Flashback...

BELPHEGOR'S POV

"Belphie...wake up..." I heard a voice calling out to me. "Sorry, Belphie..."

"Mmm...? Who's there...?" I asked in a tired tone.

I sat up and looked around to see the door had opened.

Flashback ends...

READER'S POV

"Maybe Lucifer's curse was incomplete somehow?" Beel suggested..

"No, perhaps if it were someone else's curse, but not Lucifer's. He doesn't make mistakes like that," Simeon spoke.

"Simeon's right, I mean this is Lucifer were talking about," I commented.

"That really is strange, yeah..." Luke mumbled.

"Solomon, you got any ideas how this happened?" I asked him while he stood there with that thinking expression on his face.

"After hearing your story, I have two questions. First, how was the curse on the attic lifted without the combined powers of all six brothers? It had to have been very powerful. And even if (Y/n) had somehow managed to make pacts with all six brothers, it wouldn't have been enough without the ability to control their powers at will. And at this point, I doubt that's possible," Solomon told us.

"Okay, then who did lift the curse?" Beel asked.

"Hang on, is this turning into some sort of creepy mystery? Because I can't handle scary stories AT ALL!" Luke shouted with a scared look.

"Hmm...Breaking the curse required the combined power of six of you. Does that mean that it could be any six demons as long as they were your siblings? For exmaple, would it be possible to subsitute someone else in Lucifer's place?" Simeon asked.

"Well, I suppose so, but-"

"But he only has six brothers," Luke cut him off.

"On to question number two. And this is what I'm most curious to know. Why exactly did you end up getting imprisoned in the attic to begin with, Belphie?" Solomon asked.

"That's none of your business. I'm not discussing that with anyone," Belphie frowned.

"I don't trust that look," Raven whispered in my ear.

"...All right, fine. If you don't want to talk about it, I won't force the issue," Solomon smiled.

"You know, there's something more important we still need to discuss: all of you can't seriously be planning on sleeping in my room, can you?" Luke spoke with a frown.

"What, is that a problem? Why don't you sleep in Simeon's room, Luke? And then three, well, the four of us will stretch out in here," Belphie told him.

"Wh...?! This is MY room! Mine! Why should I hand it over to a bunch of demons?!"

Raven growled angrily at Luke and then he hid behind Solomon. Raven chuckled at his reaction before I scolded him.

"Raven! bad dog!"

Raven whimper and lowered his head in shame.

"Luke, (Y/n) is a human, you know."

"But the other three are demons!" Luke shouted.

"I let you stay in my room before, and now you're going to turn me away?" Beel asked.

"He has a good point, Luke," I told him.

"I...uh..."

"You know, this is exactly why everyone is always saying that angels are arrogant, stingy and ungrateful," Belphie frowned.

"You're the only one who says that!" Luke shouted.

"Now, now, Luke...it's okay. Why dont you stay in my room tonight? Come on, I'll throw in something sweet as a present," Simeon smiled while petting his head.

"Don't talk to me like I'm a child!"

"Yep, he really is arrogant," Beel commented.

"And stingy and ungrateful," Belphie frowned.

Luke pouted when the twins called him that before he spoke up, "Hey, I am not! And I'll prove it! Just this once, as a really special favour, I'm going to let you demons use my room. So what do you have to say NOW?! You'd best feel honoured! Stand in awe of my tremendous generosity!"

The four of us sweat dropped when he said this because he just proved Belphie was right about angels.

"Mmhm, yep. We're totally honoured. You're so generous, wow..." Belphie spoke sarcastically.

"All of this talking has made me hungry..." Beel mumbled while placing his hand on his stomach while I chuckled at them.

'It's good to see the twins finally reunited at last. I hope someday, I'll be reunited with Jamie. If he doesn't hate for leaving him for so long,' I thought to myself with a smile on my face.

But little did I know, that little reunion was going to come to an end real soon.
