Chapter 36
3RD PERSON POV
Meanwhile, near the lake, Diavolo and Lucifer were standing near the lake's edge and they were talking about tonight's events.
"*Sigh*..." Lucifer sighed heavily after the pillow fight, well, more like a death pillow fight. Diavolo chuckled and then Lucifer looked at him.
"What? Is there something amusing about hearing me sigh?"
"Not at all. I was a little surprised to see that you still have a fun-loving side to you. Enough to enjoy a good pillow fight, at least," Diavolo spoke with a smile.
I'll have you know that I didn't enjoy it. I was punishing them for what they did," Lucifer spoke with his arms crossed.
"Are you sure about that? Because it seemed like you were enjoying it quite a bit to me," Diavolo asked him.
"If I'd enjoyed it, I wouldn't be sighing right now, would I?"
Diavolo looked at the lake's horizon before asking Lucifer, "Tell me then, what's the real reason you sighed just now?"
Lucifer looked away from Diavolo because he didn't have an answer for him. Diavolo looked back at him before he said to him, "It's just you and me now/ Everyone else was completely worn out from that frenzied battle. They're all fast asleep at this point. Come on, you call tell me, right? What's the harm?"
"...As if you even need to ask. You already know the answer, and you've known for a good long time now," Lucifer spoke with a small frown.
"So...it's about (Y/n), is it?" Diavolo asked him.
"...Yes. Asmo is already the fourth of my brothers to make a pact with (Y/n)."
"I see. You've spent so long watching over and caring for them, and now it seems like they're all grown up and don't need you anymore You're starting to panic!" Diavolo laughed.
"You seem to find this awfully amusing Diavolo," Lucifer spoke with a frown.
"Yes. I can't help it, seeing how genuinely troubled you seem to be over this. Come on, this is a good thing, right? Demons and a human, putting aside their differences and forming a bond? It's exactly what I've been hoping would happen. Can't you be happy for them, Lucifer?" Diavolo asked him with a small frown.
"...No, this is one case where I can't simply put aside my concerns and be happy. *sigh*...Honestly, of all the humans to choose as an exchange student, why did you have to pick THAT human?" Lucifer asked him.
"There's that sigh again."
"Given the situation, I can't help it," Lucifer told him.
Unaware to them, a certain demon was watching them from a distance until Barbatos caught him in the act.
"It's bad to eavesdrop on others, you know?"
The demon jumped in fright and Barbatos told him, "I certainly can't say I approve Satan."
Satan, who had been listening to Diavolo and Lucifer's conversation, came out of his hiding spoke and he said to Barbatos, "Well, what about you? What are you doing here, Barbatos?"
"It's my job to stay close to Lord Diavolo, so that I may better serve him."
"Then I'm guessing you heard what they said, too?" Satan asked him.
"Yes, I heard the same thing you did."
"Well, what do you think about (Y/n) being chosen for the exchange program? An average human suddenly dropped down into the Devildom, and yet manages to make pacts with four demons and have a familiar in almost no time at all. I mean, no one should be that good," Satan spoke with a frown his face.
"And we're not talking about any old lower-tier demons here. Every one of them are student council officers. Was it really just an accident that (Y/n) was selected for the exchange or could it be that-?"
"Hmm...who knows? The only thing I can say is this: Even if this wasn't part of Lord Diavolo's plan, perhaps this wasn't an accident but an inevitability?"
"What's that supposed to-"
"Tomorrow is the last day of the retreat. I recommend you go ahead and get to bed, Satan," Barbatos told him.

READER'S POV
The next day, it was noon and everyone was finally out of bed and some of them were in pain after last night's pillow fight. I'm fine because I made an escape from that death match with Raven aside from feeling tired since I was up all night avoiding the demon's pillow fight.
I brushed my hair and I used a hair clip to hold some of it while leaving the rest of it down. The outfit that I chose for the last day of the retreat consist of a (f/c) plaid shirt, (f/c) top to wear underneath it, (f/c) leggings and (f/c) ankle boots. Raven was sitting near the door and he was scratching it to get out.
"Hey, hey, don't scratch the door, Raven," I spoke with a frown.
"Sorry, but I am desperate right now! do you want me to mark the floor."
"Just hold on a moment," I told him before I went into my bag to get my notebook that contains the recipes that Ann taught me.
"Ah-ha! here we go. I knew this would come in handy someday," I spoke with a smile before I picked up the notebook and then I left the room with Raven.
While Raven did his business, I read the recipes that Ann taught me and then I thought back to the time when I asked her to teach me how to cook.
FLASHBACK...
I came back to the orphanage from another horrible day at school. We were doing food prep and my cooking was so bad that some of the students were laughing at my pathetic attempts. I stormed into my room and I slammed the door shut in frustration before laying down on the bed. I heard someone knocking on my door and I shouted.
"Go away!"
"It's me (Y/n)," Ann spoke from the other side of the door before opening the door. I looked at her and she has a tray of milk and chocolate chip cookies.
"Oh...hi Ann..." I mumbled before turning my back towards her.
"Bad day at school?" She asked me before I heard placing the tray on my desk.
"Yeah..." I spoke sadly.
"What happened?" Ann asked me after sitting on the bed.
I sat up and I told her what happened, "We were doing a cooking class today and we were supposed to be making curry and rice but, I failed...I ended up burning the rice, chopping the vegetables all wrong and among other things that I do not want to tell you. After seeing all of my failed attempts, the other students were laughing at me and to make things worse, Emily did this to me," I pointed at my hair which was covered little bits of rice.
"*Sighs* I thought I told Emily to leave you alone."
"Here maybe but, at school no. I may as well face it, I suck at cooking and who in their right mind want a housewife who makes their meals taste like rat poison," I spoke sadly.
"Hey, don't say things like that. All you need is some cooking lessons. Luckily I can teach you instead of those teachers at your school."
"Really?"
"Yeah and in no time at all, your cooking won't taste like something out of hell," Ann joked making me laugh.
FLASHBACK ENDS...
I smiled at that memory because thanks to those cooking lessons and taking those notes, they came in handy for those cooking classes and those girls from my class stopped teasing me afterwards. Well, except for Emily who's been a bully to me since we were little.
I shook my head to snap myself out of it before Raven came back to me. We went back into the castle and we got to the kitchen where Solomon and Barbatos were waiting for me.
"There you are," Barbatos spoke with a smile.
"I'm sorry, I'm late for making brunch for everyone. This one here needed to go and do his business in the garden," I pointed at Raven who was sitting by the door.
"Well, I'm glad you're here now, what do you have there?" Solomon asked me.
"Oh, just some recipes from home. Shall we get started?" I asked with a smile.
"Sure."

A while later, everyone finally came out of their rooms and some of them were in a bit of pain. Satan sighed while Levi and Mammon were groaning since they were tired from last night's events.
"I guess no one got enough sleep last night did they?" Simeon asked as Solomon, Baratos and I placed the food on the table.
"Well, that pillow fight did keep going until nearly dawn," Solomon pointed out.
"Yeah, no kidding, I'm just glad I managed to get away from it when I did," I spoke with a small smile.
"Beel looks the same as usual. Last night he claimed he was so hungry that he couldn't move, but he ended up getting caught up in it anyway," Luke spoke up.
"...I'm okay, personally. Lack of sleep is nothing compared to being hungry. Hunger is the worst," Beel complained.
"*Sigh* ...Look what you did, Mammon! I didn't get enough sleep, and now my skin is in terrible shape today!" Asmo whined as he looked at his reflection in the hand mirror.
"How's that MY fault?! You're the one who wouldn't get your hands off of (Y/n) to begin with!" Mammon spoke with a frown.
"Pff, you're such an idiot that even when you get jealous it's about something stupid! I mean, if you want to get lovey-dovey with (Y/n), then why don't you just do it? Really, you're making yourself look like a total fool. Actually, scrtch that, you are a total fool," Asmo spoke with a smirk.
Mammon blushed when Asmo teased him like that.
"Wh...hey! C-C'mon, as if I'd ever get lovey-dovey with a human! The odor would rub off on me and then I'd smell like a human!"
"Excuse me!? are you trying to say I stink?!" I spoke with a frown while Raven growled angrily at him. Mammon sweat dropped nervously when we glared at him.
"Um, I notice you didn't deny the part about being a fool..."
Barbatos came into the dining room with the food and he said to the others, "Good morning, everyone. Oh I'm sorry. I suppose it's not correct to say good morning, considering it's past noon already."
"Is that sarcasm I hear? ...Anyway, where's Lord Diavolo? I haven't seen him yet this morning," Satan asked him.
"He's still in bed. He and Lucifer stayed up talking well after the rest of you went to sleep, you see," Barbatos explained to him.
'No, they didn't go to sleep, they were knocked out,' I thought to myself after I remembered coming back to the room last night.
"Can we get to the part where we eat now? I'm hungry..." Beel whined.
"Ah yes, pardon me. Brunch is ready and waiting," Barbatos spoke with a smile.
"We were supposed to have food from the human world on the last day of the retreat, right?" Simeon asked before I nodded my head.
"Wait, don't tell me this means..." Asmo trailed off after looking at the food.
"Yep, you guessed it. It means I did some of the cooking as well," Solomon spoke with a smile.
"Indeed. (Y/n) was in charge of making today's human world fare, and Solomon helped out."
"I hope you guys enjoy it," I spoke with a smile.
"Hmph,. So, there's stuff (Y/n) cooked, huh...?" Mammon mumbled as he looked at some of the dishes that I prepared. "Well, I'm hungry enough that I guess I could tolerte eating some of it."
Raven growled before biting Mammon's leg. Mammon yelped in pain before glaring at Raven.
"Ow! what did you do that for, mutt?!"
"Be nice! (Y/n)'s cooking is great!" Raven spoke with an angry look on his face.
"Why not be honest and say you're looking forward to trying it? Ugh, this is why I can't stand demons," Luke spoke with a small frown.
"Mm, this is great. I'm ready for seconds," Beel spoke with a smile.
"Wait, you've already started eating?!" Luke spoke with a shocked look on his face.
I giggled at Beel because I knew that he would enjoy my food. The others were also the same, I was glad those cooking lessons with Ann finally came in handy. Raven whimpered at me and he pawed at my leg.
"All right, Raven. Here you are," I told him before I gave him a small plate of bacon.
Raven wagged his tail before he tucked into it. Simeon looked at some of the food Solomon and I made and he spoke up, "Interesting. This really does look quite different from food of the Devildom and the Celestial Realm, and it seems to be made using different ingredients as well."
"So, which dishes did you make, Solomon?" Asmo asked him.
"This one here. Oh, and what you see on that plate there, too," Solomon pointed at the dishes he made but, I don't think they're edible.
"So (Y/n) and Barbatos made everything else then?"
"Correct. (Y/n) made this dish, and I prepared this one here," Barbatos pointed at the dishes he and I made.
"WHOA! I saw this exact dish in I Ws Eating Avovado Salmon Sushi at a Hundred-Yen Revolving Sushi Restaurant When Suddenly I Was Thrown Back in Time a Thousand Years to the Heian Era, Where I Was Selected to Be a Personal Chef for a Princess, and Was Later Chosen as a Possible Candidate to Be Her Husband...Now Someone Please Tell Me How That's Even Possible, which is totally one of my favourite anime!" Levi spoke with a grin.
Mammon looked at one of the dishes and mumbled, "...H-Huh... So (Y/n) made this one? I-I guess it's all right..."
"Oh, it's only all right, huh? Although you are only eating dishes (Y/n) made?" Asmo pointed out and he wasn't wrong there.
"Mm...I like this. Especially the texture," Beel spoke with a smile but he wasn't talking about the food.
"That's not food, Beel! You're eating the plate!" Luke shouted making me laugh.
"Looks like the meals I made are so good even Beel's eating his entire plate and I mean that literally," I spoke with a smile.
"Ooh, this is really good too, (Y/n). Here, try some off of my fork. Go on, open your mouth and say aaaah...<3," Asmo spoke with a smile.
I was going to reject him but, I'll allow it this once seeing as how this is the last day of the retreat.
"Aaah..." I spoke softly as Asmo fed me.
"Hehe, you're so cute. So what do you think? it's good, isn't it?"
"Sure is," I spoke with a smile.
"HEY, ASMO! What's the big idea gettin' all cutesy and flirty like that when you're sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, huh?!" Mammon shouted. "Do it when I'm not around! Actually, don't do it when I'm NOT around, either! In fact, don't do it at all...ever!"
"Oh, what I would do to not have to listen to Mammon..." Satan mumbled with a small frown. "Asmo, aren't you going to try any of that dish there?"
"That? Well, Solomon's the one who made that, after all," Asmo spoke with a bit of a worried look.
"Nobody likes a picky eater."
"Okay then, you go ahead and eat all you like, Beel. Be my guest," Asmo told him as he handed over the plate to Beel.
"Yeah. No need to hold back. Eat as much as you like!" Solomon spoke with a smile..
We heard Beel munching on the food since we didn't need to tell him. Suddenly, Beel froze after he ate the food.
"Beel? everything okay?" I asked him.
"That's odd. Beelzebud froze. The food must be so good that he's in shock right now," Simeon spoke up.
"Solomon's cooking looks so good that I decided to upload pictures of it to social media. Mmm, I can't wait to try this! It's going to be SO epic!" Levi spoke with a smile. "...All right, food! your end is nigh! Prepare to be consumed!"
Levi spoke with a smile before he tried some of it but, like Beel he froze.
"Okay, I guess I'll try some too..." Luke spoke before he tried some of it but, he also froze as well. Satan and Simeon also did the same after trying the food.
"PFFFAH...PFF!" Mammon spat out the food and he was choking a little.
"...Wh-What's goin' on?! ...It's AWFUL, like needles are pokin' at my tounge...and I'm choking...and my stomach's on fire...! Th-This ain't food...this is...somethin' else altogether...!" Mammon shouted before gulping down a glass of water.
"If I had to describe it, I'd guess it's more like...a weapon of mass destruction...?" Satan mumbled as he looked at Solomon's cooking.
"It's firm, yet soft. Sweet, yet savory. the flavour's strong, yet bland, all at the time. It's impossible to describe the sensation in words. That's how complex this...substance is..."
"Urp..."
"Um...Luke, are you okay?" Asmo asked Luke.
"Beel? Beel?! Are you okay? say something?!" I asked him as I waved my hand in front of his face.
"Even Beel is sitting there paralysed, and he can eat anything..." Satan spoke with a surprised look.
"The food looks so good, though. It's hard to believe that if can taste so bad, huh?" Asmo asked with a small smile.
"Now now, don't compliment me too much, okay? You're going to embarrass me," Solomon spoke with a smile as he kept eating that.. rat poisoned food?
"Look at Solomon. He's eatin' it like nothing's wrong..." Mammom mumbled.
"Mmm, the flavour isn't bad. Looks like my hard work paid off," Solomon spoke with a smile.
"I know. As bizarre as it is, Solomon seems to have no trouble at all eating his own cooking," Asmo pointed out before he offered some food on his fork before offering it to him.
"Solomon, this looks good too... Here, open wide and say aaah..."
"Mm...thanks," Solomon spoke with a smile.
We all sat there with surprised looks on our faces as he ate his own food.
"...So he doesn't even...?"
"...Nope..."
"...Doesn't look like it.."
Satan, Luke and Mammon whispered.
"Solomon's cooking is so insanely bad that it's become the most memorable part of the who retreat. Wow, Solomon...that's epic! loool!" Levi spoke up.
'Nope, the only that's epic is that Solomon has either no taste buds or his stomach is made out of Iron,' I thought to myself with a small smile on my face because I was happy. Happy that I have amazing friends to hang out with and spending the last day in the Demon King's Castle.
