Chapter 31
READER'S POV
We were in the middle of a scavenger hunt during our stay here at the castle. However, Simeon, Asmo and I were not making any progress because a certain demon of lust keeps spoiling the pictures and that includes the other teams as well.
Mammon glared at Asmo before shouting at him.
"Hey, Asmo! Whaddya think you're doin', huh?!"
"Well, I can't help it, now can I? It's not my fault that I'm so charming and ridiculously good-looking. Also, I don't believe it said anywhere in the rules that we're not allowed to get in the way of other teams," Asmo told him.
"Hey, where do you think you're going? We're not done talking to you, Asmo!" Satan shouted as Asmo walked away.
"Where am I going? Oh, I dunno, maybe somewhere where I don't have to listen to someone lecturing me?" Asmo frowned before walking away.
"*Sigh*...He really is a handful. What are you going to do, (Y/n)?" Simeon asked me.
"I'll go after him, come on, Raven," I tugged the leash on Raven and then we went after Asmo.
I searched through the hallways for him until finally, I found him.
"Asmo, wait up!" I called out to him.
"...Hm? Ah, I was wondering who was behind me. So it's you, (Y/n). What? Did you follow me hoping we could have a little alone time?"
Raven growled at Asmo before I spoke up, "No, I followed after you because I wanted to let you know that you should apologise to the others."
"Apologise? me? why? I'm afraid I don't quite follow you."
I sighed when he gave me that fake look on his face.
"What? so now you're going to lecture me, too? is that it?"
"What you did back there wasn't cool," I told him.
"Oh was it now? You don't think I should've done that? Reeeally?" Asmo leaned closer to me before he said to me. "...(Y/n), I see you looking into my eyes right now. You don't feel anything? Like, really? Nothing at all?"
I looked at Asmo with a confused look on my face before he leaned back and said to me, "I was trying to charm you. You know, like I did down at the labyrinth. You saw how I tamed Levi's old pet snake, right? you're just a human. Yet, for some weird reason, it seems like my power doesn't work on you."
He's not wrong there. I came across a few demons who tried to charm me or hypnotise me but they never work. I never understood it myself. I always assumed that I might be immune to their charms including Asmodeus's power.
"Even so, if you think you can control me, well you've got another thing coming!"
I looked at Raven and he winked at me because he knew exactly what I was thinking. I looked at Asmo with a smirk.
"Well, I could control you, if..." I trailed off before Asmo asked me.
"If what?"
"If you made a pact me," I told him which made him look at me with a surprised look before laughing.
"Me? make a pact with you?! Hahahaha! What? Do you think that because I made a pact with Solomon, I'm willing to do it with any human who comes along? Please. If you think I'm that easy, you're mistaken-very mistaken," Asmo told me with a smirk.
I frowned at Asmo when he laughed me. Raven growled at him before he asked me, "Can I kill him now?"
"Not yet, although I do understand the urge," I told him.
"Still...hmm. If you want to make a pact with me that badly, then what do you say to this? If you can manage to outwit Lucifer somehow, then I'll be willing to recognise you as someone worthy of me. If you really want to make a pact with me, then...surely you can do something like that, right?" Asmo asked me.

After the scavenger hunt was over, we headed back to our rooms to get ready because after dinner, there was supposed to be a dance. I got the dress that Raven picked for me before we left yesterday, which was a knee length (f/c) dress that came with a thin leather belt. I also picked a (f/c) denim jacket to match it with (light/dark) brown calf boots. I was in the bathroom getting changed and I had tied some of my hair back into a plait while leaving the rest of it down. I went for a simple and casual look. I couldn't afford anything fancier than this so this will do.
"*knock, knock* are you done in there, (Y/n)?" Asmo asked from the other side of the door.
"Just about," I called back before leaving the bathroom.
Asmo looked at me up and down and he looked surprised. I gave him a confused look and asked him, "Is something wrong?"
"No, not at all. You look so cute wearing that dress."
"Thanks."
"But..." Asmo glanced at my hair and face and he said to me,"You might need to make one or two changes."
"Like what?"
"Your hair for example and of course, you need a little make-up," He suggested to me.
"I don't know what else to do with my hair and I was never good at applying make-up. I always ended up looking like Morticia from the Addams family," I joked.
"Well luckily for you, Asmodeus is here to help!" Asmo spoke with a grin before he rummaged through his suitcases and grabbing the stuff that he needed.
Asmo had brought out a make-up kit and he also brought out a curl iron wand as well. He looked at me and patted the bed and told me, "Sit down and let me work my magic."
"Okay..." I mumbled before I sat down and then Asmo started to work on my make-up.
"So you never learned properly how to apply make-up?" Asmo asked me as he added some blush on my cheeks.
"I only learned how to put on a little bit of mascara and lipstick. As for anything else like eye shadow or eyeliner, it goes horribly wrong," I told him.
"Didn't you have your parents or a friend teach you?" Asmo asked me as he tilted my head back to add some eye-liner.
"Not really. Back in the human world, I didn't have friends and as for parents...well, I don't know where they are or who they look like. I grew up in an orphanage," I told him.
Asmo looked surprised when I told him this. He finished my make-up and then he got to work on my hair.
"Do you know what happened to them?"
"No. As I said, I don't even know if they're still alive or if they're somewhere in Japan. All I know is that they left me on the doorstep of the orphanage 17 years ago. They left a note saying they would come back for me but..."
"But that hasn't happened, has it?"
"No. It's been 17 years and I have been waiting and waiting for them but they never came back."
"Does anyone know about this?" Asmo asked me as he curled my hair while having some of it tied back.
"No, well, except for you, Beel and Luke. I don't usually like talking about where I come from."
"Why?"
"Let's just say my childhood wasn't great. Too many disappointments you can say."
Well, that's sort of true. Aside from the fact that none of the kids liked me when I claimed I can see the demons. They didn't believe me and they just kept teasing me and picking on me because of it.
"It can't be that bad."
"You have no idea. The adults are all right but, the other kids. They can be a bit odd with the new kids and those who have been long residents in the orphanage until they're old enough to live in a place for their own," I told Asmo.
"Has that happened to you? you know, moving into a place of your own or getting adopted?"
"No, I've been in the orphanage for as long as I can remember. Even if a family comes along and meets some of the kids, they always go for ones who are not...odd."
"Odd? what do you mean?" Asmo asked in a confused tone.
"Let's just say some of the families want the perfect child who is not damaged goods or have a strange background. It's complicated to explain in detail," I told him while trying to avoid the fact that I can see demons since I was little.
"You humans are weird."
I giggled when he said this because he wasn't wrong there. I felt Asmo's fingers fix my curled hair before he applied hairspray to keep it in place.
"And Voila!! done! You looks so beautiful and cute <3! Look," Asmo held a hand mirror to let me take a look at my reflection.
I smiled at my new look. Asmo had tied some of my hair back while leaving it down and curled. he also added some light make-up. This was definitely an improvement compared to how I looked from before.
"Wow! I love it! thank you so much, Asmodeus!" I spoke with a smile.
"You're welcome. If you need some tips on how to do make-up, I'd be more than happy to help but, if you managed to outwit Lucifer and I agree to making a pact with you," Asmo spoke with a smirk.
"I'll keep that in mind."
Just then someone barged into the room and it was Mammon.
"Oy! what's takin' so long?! You two-" Mammon stopped mid-sentence when he took one look at me.
I stood up from the bed and I asked him, "What's wrong?"
Mammon didn't say anything aside from a few stuttering words since he literally has no words, for once. I shook my head before Raven followed after me as we left the room.
"Whoa...she's so pretty..." I heard Mammon mumble as I walked through the hallway with Raven.
"He's not wrong there. You do look beautiful."
"Thanks Raven," I spoke with a smile.
"By the way, did you decide about tonight's performance? Diavolo is still expecting an answer from you, you know," Raven reminded me.
He's right and I have made up my mind. I wasn't going to disappoint Diavolo and I won't know everyone's reaction until I start to perform.
