Chapter 21
READER'S POV
It had been a few nights since Luke did a disappearing act. We couldn't work out how he disappeared from the closet from Beel's room, it was a mystery. Speaking of that night, Raven didn't have to hide as much as he used to anymore because ever since Lucifer told me that he knew about me keeping him as a familiar. Raven didn't need to feel the need to hide from the others. It was a huge relief and I was happy that I got to keep him but, there were more things to worry about like Luke's disappearance.
"Luke never did come back last night," Beel commented as we hung around the classroom while Raven was sitting on my lap. "You two saw it, right? You saw me push him into the closet. So then why did he just va-"
"Well, hello Bee, Akira. Good to see you," Simeon cut off Beel's sentence.
Simeon looked at Raven and he asked me.
"Who's your new friend?"
"This is Raven, he's my familiar or in human terms, he's my new pet dog."
"Nice to meet you," Simeon told him before petting Raven's head.
"You two are looking after Luke, right? I hope he isn't causing you too much trouble."
"Oh no, not at all," I lied to him while petting Raven's head.
"I'm sorry you had yo get caught up in our private squabble. I tried to stop him before he could run off, but Luke is just too quick I'm afraid. I'd appreciate it if you could take care of him until he's ready to come back again. Thank you both," Simeon spoke with a smile.
Beel and I were silent and we wondered if we should tell him that Luke has vanished. Simeon looked at me and he said to me.
"Luke can be a real handful. He's still young and immature as angels go, and he knows little of the world. So, he tends to judge everything in life from the perspective of someone in the Celestial Realm, using its logic. Though that's also one of the positive things about Luke. He's honest, genuine and he adheres to a strict set of values that he doesn't break. When the two of us were orginally chosen for the exchange program in the Devildom, he was extremely upset and depressed. It was hard for him," Simeon explained.
"I had no idea. But, who can blame him?" I asked outloud making Beel and Simeon chuckle.
"But personally, I thought that studying in the Devildom would be a good opportunity for Luke. Here, Luke is able to come in contact with demons as well as human students like you, (Y/n). It's a chance for him to expand his perspective. And on top of that, it's my hope that he'll be able to grow as an angel as well. I'm guessing Michael must have felt the same way, which is why he chose Luke for this program. Though Luke himself still hasn't figured it that out."
"Then why don't you tell him this?" I asked Simeon.
"I believe this is true in the human world too, but some supervisors like to teach the people they lead directly - to give them the answers they need. But other supervisors like to make those they lead to think for themselves and have them figure things out on their own. I belong to the latter group. I like to sit back and watch Luke find the answer on his own," Simeon spoke with a smile as he explained this to me.
I smiled back at him and I thought to myself.
'Figure things out on your own huh? I wish it was that easy for me...especially since I don't have any clues about why I can see demons in the human world and the whereabouts of my parents.'
"You make a great leader, Simeon," I complimented him.
"Thank you. Though I'm not sure if Luke would agree with you," Simeon chuckled and I could hear Luke's ranting right now if he were here.
"If you find yourself unable to put up with him anymore, go ahead and kick him out. I'm sure he'll come back to me if he has no place else to go."
"We'll do our best to look out for him," I spoke with a smile on my face.
"Well then, I'll be seeing you."
Simeon told us before he left. In the end, Beel and I couldn't tell him about how Luke had disappeared. I looked at Beel and he said to us.
"We'd better track down Luke ASAP."
"I agree."
Raven nodded his head in agreement before I looked at him.
"Raven, I hope your senses of smell are a lot stronger than a normal dog's because we're gonna need it."
"I'll do my best," Raven told me before he raised his saw near his head to make it look like he was saluting me.
"Aww, you're so cute~" I cooed at him before scratching his chest making Raven whimpered happily and he tilted his head and eats back.

Hours later, Beel and I were back at the house and we were searching for Luke. We decided to split up to look for him while Raven stuck by me and he was sniffing the ground to pick up his scent.
"Well, Raven? anything?" I asked him while he was pacing back and forth with his nose to the ground.
"Nothing."
"*Sighs* come on, bud. Let's get back to Beel. i hope he's found something."
We headed back to the hallway where we agreed to meet up with each other and then he asked me.
"From the look on your face, I'm guessing he wasn't anywhere on the second floor either, huh?"
"No, Raven couldn't pick up his scent from there."
"Although honestly, it really isn't possible to search all of the second floor since my brothers' rooms comprise most of it," Beel told me with his arms folded.
"That's true and if Luke was in one of them, wouldn't they have thrown him out already?" Raven asked me before sitting down.
"They would have done, but what about you Beel? Any luck on the first floor?" I asked him.
"I didn't find him either, I looked all over the first floor, but I didn't see him anywhere. We should try one more time. This time you and Raven look on the first floor and I'll search the sec-"
"So you're looking for something, are you?" Satan asked us after interrupting Beel. "What are you three whispering about?"
"I don't know what you mean. We're not whispering."
"What he said," Beel and I told Satan as he looked at us suspiciously.
"Oh yes you are. And you'd better give me the truth or i might have to go tell Lucifer about this."
We sweat dropped when he threatened us. Raven growled at Satan and then I spoke up.
"We're looking for Luke," I blurted out.
"Luke...? The angel Luke...? There's no way he's here in the House of Lamentation. He hates demons," Satan told us.
"No, we're not talking about the angel Luke. We're talking about a dog. We're looking for a dog named Luke," Beel told him and we hoped he bought the lie.
"Yeah, that's right. Raven wanted a friend so....we may have...brought in another...stray...dog..." I spoke nervously while Raven nodded his head.
"So you really are hiding another dog in your room then... I did think it was awfully strange that you didn't finish your breakfast. I won't say anything to Lucifer about this, but after you've had your turn with this dog of yours, get rid of it."
"O-Okay, sure..." I spoke nervously while Raven growled at Satan as he walked away.
We sighed in relief and then Beel spoke up.
"Looks like we managed to worm our way out of that somehow, but..."
"We better find Luke and fast before someone else discovers him before we do otherwise there's gonna be hell to pay," I finished his sentence.
After searching the house we couldn't find him anywhere. We got back to the entrance hall and then Beel spoke up.
"It's strange we still haven't found him even after searching for all this time. If we assume he left the House of Lamentation, then did he go back to purgatory Hall, or could he have gone somewhere else?" Beel asked outloud.
"I don't think so. Simeon seems convinced that he's still hiding out here with us," I told him.
"But, you definitely hid him in the closet. Raven, did you notice anything when you hid in the shadows?" I asked him before he shook his head for a no.
"So even if he did go some where else, it's weird that he disappeared while inside the closet. Could Luke actually be somewhere inside the House of Lamentation?" Beel wondered.
"I don't know. Raven and I haven't been here that long. Don't you guys have a blueprint of the house or something?" I asked him before he took a glance at a decorative dollhouse that's near the entrance to the building. The dollhouse is an accurate, scale model of the House of the Lamentation itself.
"Wait a second. Look at the doolhouse here," Beel pointed out before he approached it.
Beel took a good look at it and then he spotted something in one of the floors.
"That's strange."
"What is it?" I asked him.
"There's an extra room here, one that doesn't exist."
I was a little confused when he said this because I didn't know there was a room that didn't exist in this place unless there was a good reason.
