Chapter 20
READER'S POV
The next day, I was having breakfast with the brothers but, Beel and I were saving some of it for Luke since he was still hiding in our room. Raven was hiding under the shade of the table while Beel and I snuck him some bits of food to him.
"Hey what's the deal, (Y/n)? Is that all you're gonna eat?"
I looked at Mammon before he continued.
"If ya don't have yourself a proper breakfast, you'll run out of gas before lunchtime."
I couldn't tell him that we were hiding Luke, the angel, in our room and how he asked us to bring him some breakfast as well.
Flashback...
"So you're willing to bring me back something to eat so I can have breakfast too?" Luke asked me after I made sure my pony tail is secured.
"Yep, I'll make sure Beel brings back something for you as well just as long as he doesn't eat it first, right?" I asked Beel.
"That's right."
"That would be amazing, thanks...! Wow, you're so nice, (Y/n)," Luke spoke with a smile.
"Hehe, it's one of my special traits," I spoke with a smirk before I grabbed my bag.
"Before you go, there's something you should know."
I looked at him confused before Luke told me.
"I can't eat any of that weird stuff demons like. Like fried bat, monkey brains...that sort of stuff."
"Ugh, I wouldn't eat it either but, I will try."
"Also, I hate anything tomato-flavoured. I can't handle ketchup, either. And there are some cheese I don't like...it depends on the variety. Oh and also.."
Flashback ends...
I pretty stopped listening to his picky habits before Beel and I left the room. Although, he can't be too picky since the demons might get suspicious.
"Are you feelin' sick to your stomach? is that it?"
"Yeah, something like that," I spoke in a 'depressed' tone to make it look like I was missing the human world.
"You're feeling homesick, aren't you? You must miss the human world," Asmo pointed out.
"I dunno. Ya really (Y/n)'s the type to get homesick?"
Mammon asked Asmo and then I frowned a little.
"Jee, I feel a lot better already. Thanks for your sympathy, NOT!" I spoke in angry tone which made Mammon flinch in fear.
I turned away from Mammon and then Beel spoke up.
"Welp, I think I've had enough for now."
"Wh...?!"
"Huh...?!"
Asmo and Mammon shouted in unison while Satan remained quiet.
"Beel! You're actually gonna...gonna leave FOOD on your plate?! Uneaten food?!! You've gotta be kiddin' me...!"
"I can't ever remember you doing that, and my memory goes back at least 50000 years!"
I sweat dropped when I saw their reactions, why are they making a big deal out of it?
"I didn't say I wasn't going to eat it. I'm going to take it back to my room and finish it there. That's all."
"Is this the end of the world?! Are we about to be invaded by an army of angels?!" Mammon shouted in a dramatic tone.
"Can you really be called the Avatar of Gluttony if you don't even finish all of the food on your plate?! If you don't have that, you're just a regular demons, aren't you?!" Asmo asked him.
"You picked up a cat from the street and brought it back to your room, didn't you? That's what this is about."
Beel and I looked at Satan with a surprised look before he said to him.
"Beel, once you've had your fun with this animal, you need to put it back where you found it."
"Actually, it's more of a dog than a cat..." Beel mumbled.
"Hm? did you say something?"
"Nope, nothing."
"Hang on Beel, I'm coming with you," I told him as I stood up from my seat and I took my plate form the table.
"Wha..?! hey, why're you goin' with him?" Mammon asked with a frown.
"Because A: I can't go back to my room no thanks to you and B: I am still ticked off with you after that little incident so right now, I can't stand to being around you," I spoke with a frown which made Mammon look at me with a horrified look on his face before I followed after Beel.
Once I got into the hallway with Beel, I asked him.
"Was I too harsh back there?"
"Nope, but, I've got to give credit to you. That was impressive acting you pulled back there."
"Hehe, why thank you," I spoke with a grin as we headed back to Beel's room.
Once everyone left for classes, Luke decided to do some exploring while Beel and I kept an eye out for anyone who might still be around the house.
"Hmp. Considering they call this place the House of Lamentation, I would've expected it to be more impressive. But it's just big...that's all. Other than that, it's not so different from Purgatory Hall," Luke complimented as he walked through the hallways.
"Hey! (Y/n), Beelzebud! What's in this room here?"
"Luke, you can't just leave my room whenever you feel like it. My brothers will find out."
"But everyone else is off to class right now, right? I can't stay cooped up in that room forever. I'll go crazy!" Luke told us before he opened Satan's bedroom door.
"Whoa! What's with this room here?! It's crammed wall-to-wall with books! And all of them have to do with demons!"
"Ugh, he keeps darting around. I can't manage to catch him..." Beel complained.
"This is nothing compared to dealing with the younger kids back where I lived. They used to dart around the hallways as well, it's hard to keep track of them especially the hyper ones," I told Beel as we watched Luke.
"Wow! The view from up here is amazing! I bet you can see the entire Devildom!" Luke commented as he stared out of the window.
"Ooh! I see Purgatory Hall! Look! That window near the spire there is my room! (Y/n)! Beelzebud... look!"
Beel and I both sighed and we both though the same thing.
'He's such a child...'
Later on that day...
"...So, you've heard the story about Lucifer and his brothers, right? They used to be angels. ...Well, except for Satan," Luke told me while I was playing a game of tug-of-war with Raven.
"How long ago was this exactly?" I asked him.
"It was a long, long time ago. So long ago that you humans couldn't even imagine how far back it was. Back then, Lucifer was the strongest and most beautiful of all the angels. He had six pure white wings, and light radiated from them..."
I can already imagine what he looked like as an angel right about now. Raven pulled the rope out of my hand and then he started shake his head and tug on it while using his paws to hold it down.
"...Now keep this between us, all right? You absolutely can't tell anyone else, understand? Not Beelzebud or any of his brothers, either. But back then, I admired Lucifer even more than Michael. And it wasn't just me. Other angels felt the same way. I think everyone did. Hehe, remember...this is our little secret, okay?"
"My lips are sealed. Raven..." I looked at him and then Shadow raised his head with the rope in his mouth before dropping it.
"Oh yeah, I'll keep quiet as long as there's treats involved."
I giggled when he said this until the door opened suddenly which gave me and Luke a fright. Turns out it was just Beel.
"D'AAAAH! Y-you scared me..!" Luke shouted in fear before glaring at Beel. "Beelzebud! At least knock before coming in! Sure, this is your room, but right now it's my room too!"
"We're in big trouble. You and Raven are about to be found out."
Luke and Raven looked at him with a confused look.
"What's going on Beel?" I asked him after standing up from the ground.
"We're having a surprise inspection. Now."
"A surprise inspection? What do you mean?" Luke asked him.
"I mean exactly what I said. Lucifer shows up announced, and goes around checking each room to see if anyone is out past curfew."
"Oh. In that case, all I have to do is hide, right? Maybe under the bed or behind the curtains-"
"Oh no. You'll have to do WAY better than that. Lucifer does more than check to see if everyone's in their rooms. He also searches the inside of the room itself. Asmodeus had a witch that he's brought back home one night in his room. She transformed into a spider and hid, but Lucifer still found her."
"Wha...?! Why does he have to go to such lengths? We didn't have anything like that at Purgatory Hall!"
"That's because you don't have Lucifer living with you at Purgatory Hall. He originally started doing it because Mammon kept sneaking out after curfew and coming home late. And he'd hide stacks of unpaid bills in his room so no one could find them."
"Ugh...Mammon, that IDIOT!" Luke shouted in anger.
"My thoughts exactly but, where are we going to hide Luke? Raven can easily hide in the shadows."
"We'll hide him in the closet," Beel told Luke before he shoves him in the closet.
"What's the point of me hiding in the closet?! I mean, you said he even found a witch that had transformed herself into a spider, right?!" Luke shouted.
"Well, if you keep standing there doing nothing, he'll find you for sure. I'll think up some excuse to keep him from looking in there. Now hurry!" Beel told him before shoving him in the closet.
"Quick Raven! hide!" I told Raven before I hid his toys while he looked around to find a place or one of the shadows to hide in. I watched him run over to the shadow of the closet and he hides in there before Lucifer came into the room.
"...All right...inspection time. Beel, (Y/n). I see you're both here. I'm going to have a look through your room to be certain everything's in order here. But before I do, is there anything you'd like to tell me?" He asked us in a stern voice at that last sentence.
I sweat dropped a little and I told him.
"Not really, no."
"I see," Lucifer mumbled before he looked at the closet. "Beel, open up the closet."
"There's nothing in there but Belphie's clothes-"
"Didn't you hear me? Open it."
Beel wanted to disobey him but, I knew he couldn't do it so he opens the door, revealing the inside of the closet where Luke is nowhere to be seen!
Beel and I were confused when we saw this and then Lucifer spoke up.
"Well, it seems you really aren't hiding a puppy in here. I guess it was only a rumour then."
Beel and I sighed in relief before Lucifer told us.
"All right, that wraps up my inspection. Both of you make sure to go to bed early. Oh, and (Y/n)..."
I looked at him nervously before Lucifer told me.
"If you want to keep that shape shifter hound as a pet, you better make sure you take responsibility for it or else it's going back onto the streets."
I was shocked when he told me this because I didn't think he would catch on.
"Wait, what shape-shifter hound? I'm not-"
"You can drop the act, I've known since the day you brought it here."
Raven came out from the darkness of my shadow and then he sat beside me while staring at Lucifer.
"You already know about me?" He asked him.
"Of course, I suspected that (Y/n) was hiding something from me. I didn't think it would have been a stray dog."
Raven whimpered before laying down on the ground and then I asked him.
"You're not mad, are you?"
"Not at all but, make sure you take him on walks, give him proper food and also get him a collar while you're at it too. But, don't even think about bringing in another one or else."
"Yes sir," I spoke with a relieved smile before he left the room.
I cheered a little and then Raven leapt into my arms and he licks my face.
"Did you hear that buddy?! You don't have to hide anymore!"
"Can you celebrate later? in case if you have forgotten Luke has disappeared."
Raven and I looked at Beel with a surprised looks.
"Ooh....yeah, I almost forgot about that."
"It's weird though...I know I pushed him into the closet a minute ago. What's going on?"
"That's a good a question. Where did Luke disappear to?" I asked out loud.
