READER'S POV

The next day, it was the weekend and I decided to take a walk in the park and maybe play my guitar that I got for my 13th birthday. I love going to the park or going to a street to perform songs for the members of the public because not only do they like listening to my singing voice, I get to earn a bit of extra cash on the side. 

Once I got changed into my casual clothes, I grabbed my guitar case and my bag before leaving the room. I headed downstairs and then Susie, my social worker, came out of the living room and she said to me.

"Where are you off too, (Y/n)?"

"I'm heading to the park to play some music and maybe earn a bit fo cash."

"All right but, don't come back too late. I've got something I want to discuss with you."

"Okay, see ya."

I told her before leaving the building. Once I left the Orphanage, I hummed to my favourite song before a few of the Little shadow demons showed up and they were cheering for my singing voice and they wanted me to sing. I smiled at them and I did my best not to talk since I was out in public and the last thing I needed was someone teasing me and calling me weird again. 

"Hey (Y/n)! did you bring us snacks?"

"We're hungry!"

"Please feed us!"

The little shadow demons shouted and once I got to the quiet park, I got some bread crumbs to make it look like I was feeding the birds but, I was actually feeding the little demons. After I scattered them onto the ground the little demons swarmed around them and they happily ate them. I sat down on the bench before I got my guitar out of its case and I adjusted the strings before I started my little performance.

Once I was done, the kids clapped and cheered for me. I took a bow after standing up and then I checked my guitar case to see how much money I've made and I've made a lot. I smiled at how well this went for me today. I thought about singing another song but, then I remembered that my social worker wanted to talk to me about something so I packed away my stuff and then I left the park.

Once I got back to the Orphanage, Susie welcomed me back.

"Welcome back, (Y/n), so how did it go?"

"It went great, I made more cash than I did last week. If I keep this up, I'll be able to get a gig at a cafe or something."

"Hahaha! well, let's not rush into things yet. Anyway, there's something I need to talk to you about."

"Uh oh, whatever it is, I didn't do it."

"No, no, not like that, come into my office and we'll talk."

I followed Suise into her office and then I sat down across from her desk and she said to me.

"After doing some searching we've finally found a family who's willing to foster you."

"Really?!"

"Yeah, we've got a meeting with them tomorrow and if it goes well, you might be looking at a new home."

"That's great!" I spoke in a happy tone.

I was about to leave the office until I stopped in my tracks and then I turned to look at Susie.

"Um, I know it's great that a family is willing to take me in but...have you...heard anything about my parents?"

Susie looked at me with a surprised look on her face and then she looked away sadly.

"No, I'm sorry, (Y/n). It's been 17 years now and if they wanted to get in contact I would have heard something by now."

"You're right, I'm sorry."

"Don't be, it's not the first time you've asked me about your family. I know you're still wondering where they are and why left you but, they are out there somewhere. Right now, a foster family is willing to take you in and if it goes well, you'll have a new name and maybe some siblings too."

I smiled when she said this and then I headed back to my room. I put away the money I earned in my moneybox that I hid under my bed and then I sat down at my desk to work on my sketches. I looked at the drawing I was working on and it was Cerberus, the three-headed dog AKA the guard dog of the Underworld. I smiled at the completed drawing before someone called me down for dinner.

A FEW HOURS LATER...

After having dinner and chilling out in the living room, I got ready for bed but before I went to sleep, I heard my door opening and closing. I sat up and it was Jamie. He was in his blue Pj's and he held his teddy bear in one arm while rubbing his eye since he was still sleepy.

"Hey buddy, did you have a bad dream?"

"Yeah..." Jamie spoke in a tired tone before I raised my covers for him to climb onto my bed.

Jamie laid next to me before I covered us both. Jamie snuggled next to me and he said to me.

"One of the older kids told me something...is it true that you've got a family that's going to take you in?"

"Yes, it's true."

"Where will you live and when will you be leaving?"

"I don't know yet, but, all I know is that I'm only meeting them first and then we'll see what happens from there, kay?"

"But, who's going to give me a midnight snack? who's going to sneak me some of Ann's cookies? who's going to let me sleep in their bed whenever I have nightmares?" Jamie asked me as he buried his face in my chest.

I felt sorry for the little guy. Ever since he came here, he's been lonely and I'm the closet thing to family he's got. I rubbed his back a few times and I said to him.

"Listen, Jamie, I know it's going to be a big change but, let me tell you something now."

Jamie looked at me and I told him.

"Change can be a good thing. I know I won't be around to be there for you but, it doesn't change the fact that I'm still your sister. You can visit me whenever you want and I'll do my best to visit you once in a while."

Jamie smiled at me and he asked me.

"Promise?"

"Pinky promise."

I spoke with a grin before we wrapped our pinky fingers around each other since we made a promise. 

"Now get some sleep little guy."

"*Yawn* okay Onee-chan."

Jamie mumbled before he snuggled up to me again and then we both fell asleep.

The next day, the foster family came to the orphanage and we met them in Susie's office. Their names are Sarah and John, they were a young couple who had just got married but, they recently found out that Sarah couldn't have any more children so they decided to foster a child. When they saw my profile, they wanted me since their son wanted a big sister and luckily I fit that role.

"So, (Y/n) what are your hobbies?" John asked me as he sipped his coffee.

"I play music mostly guitar and piano and I love creating my own art works as well. So I'm a bit of an artist in both music and art. Here I brought some examples."

John and Sarah looked at my drawings and they were a bit surprised when they saw my demon drawings.

"I know what you're thinking, I'm a bit odd."

"Honestly...just a little but, who are we to judge? you're you and that's not gonna change."

Sarah spoke with a smile and I smiled back. I was beginning to like this couple but, a part of me was nagging at me because I had a feeling there was something not right with this couple. After chatting to them for a while, we decided to have a day out and see how we get along with each other and if I'm the right child to be fostered even though I'm getting too old soon.

We decided to check out the art museum and I was enjoying myself. I was staring at some of the artworks until I felt some tugging on my leg. I looked down and it was Raven. 

"Don't look directly at me! find a spot where we can talk."

I nodded my head and then I said to Susie, Sarah and John.

"Can you guys excuse me for a moment? I need to use the bathroom."

"Go ahead."

Susie told me before Raven and I headed to the girls' toilets. I went into one of the stalls before sitting on my knees to place Raven on my lap and I asked him.

"Raven, what's going on? I thought you said you were heading back home?"

"I was until I sensed something off. I followed you and I sensed evil from that couple. They may look like they're humans but, they're not. They're just demons in disguise."

My eyes widen when he told me this and my instincts were right, I knew something felt off about that couple but, the question was; why are they after me? are they gonna eat me?

"Listen, I can help you. There's someone outside of the building waiting for you and he can take you away from here for a while."

"Who?"

"Don't worry about that, just do as I say before someone realises why you're taking so long in the bathroom."

I nodded my head and then I left the stalls. I was about to leave until I saw Sarah coming towards the girls' bathroom. I couldn't let myself get caught in here so I opened the window and I climbed out of it with Raven following me. I followed Raven we got to an abandoned warehouse. Shadow led me over to a man wearing a black cloak and he had his face covered with the hood up.

"Who are you? are you a demon who wants to eat me too?"

"Don't worry, (Y/n). I'm not like those greedy demons."

"How do you know my name?"

"Lord Diavolo asked me to come and get you. He's expecting you in Devildom."

I looked at Raven and he told me.

"Devildom is where I live. You'll learn more once you get there. It's important that you get there."

"I'm not sure what's going on but, if it means getting away from that couple and away from the Orphanage for a while, then I'm in."

The hooded man smiled when I told him this and then he offered his hand to me and I was about to take it until someone shouted.

"There she is! get her!!"

I turned around and then Sarah and John appeared and all of a sudden their eyes changed coloured and I knew they were showing their true colours. Raven growled at them and then the hooded man said to me.

"Hurry! take my hand!"

I grabbed ahold of the hooded man's hand before he opened a portal and then he dragged me over to it before giving me a shove. I screamed when I feel through it and then I heard the man say to me.

"Until we meet again, (Y/n)."

The portal closed and then the world around me turned black.
