Chapter 12

READER'S POV

After watching the TSL series last night, Mammon, Beel and I enjoyed every minute of it and Beel certainly had his fill of the snacks. I know this was important but, I really enjoyed last night because that was the first time that I got to watch a movie with some friends instead of being alone or with Jamie all the time. It makes a nice change.

Right now, Mammon and I were in the hallway coming up with the plan.

"Okay, so let's go over this one more time. You want to get into the attic at the top of the stairs. But, Lucifer's standing in your way. So, you've got to do something about him which is why ya need the cursed vinyl edition of The Tale of the Seven Lords soundtrack."

"That's right."

"I don't understand why Lucifer cares so much about somethin' like that either but, whatever."

"Me neither but, the point of all of this is to borrow the soundtrack from Levi and in order for me to do that, I need to become a big TSL nerd just like him. Which is why we were up all night watching a marathon session of every TSL DVD," I explained to Mammon with a smirk.

"All right, it's time for  a review. I'll quiz you to see just how well you understand it. We'll start with TSL DVD Volume 2."

I nodded my head and then Mammon began to quiz me.

"After falling into a trap set by Henry and the Lord of Shadow, the Lord of Fools is forced to flee to the north. When he gets there, he finds his former sweetheart's body frozen in ice. What was her name?"

"Her name was Geldie."

"Correct. Eh, though anyone could've gotten that right, as easy as it was. All right, let's hit DVD volume 5 next. Hostile fores from another land invade the Lord of Flies' country, surrounding and isolating him so this people will starve. So, the Lord of Fools tries to help his brother. The Lord of Fools means well, but his efforts backfire. As a result, the Lord of Flies ends up in an even worse situation. The reason for this has to do with the supply food that the Lord of Fools sends. Tell me what the problem was."

"The food had been spoiled."

"Right. The Lord of Fools really did mean well, but a long rainy spell caused the food he sent to spoil. Ugh... Every single time I think about it, it makes me wanna cry..."

I sweat dropped when he said this because I couldn't forget how many times Mammon cried throughout the marathon after that scene.

"All right, time to move on. Next up is DVD Volume 7. The Lord of Corruption imprisons the Lord of Emptiness in the Tower of Shadow, refusing to forgive his brother for leading a rebellion against him. The other lords lament the fate of their youngest brother, but there's nothing they can do to help him. Why is that?"

"It's because they were afraid of the Lord of Corruption."

"Great. Looks like you can do this when ya really put your mind to it. You may seem like an airhead, but I've gotta admit, you did pretty well."

"Why thank you," I told him with a smile.

"I'd say you should be able to convince Lei that ya know your stuff at this point," Mammon told me before we heard someone call out for me.

"...Hey, human."

We turned to look and it was Levi.

"Ah, well speak of the devil..." Mammon mumbled.

"Hey Levi, what's up?" I asked him with a smile.

"I heard what you're up to, human. Seems that you're to suck up to me so I'll like you."

Mammon and I sweat dropped when he said this. I glanced at Mammon and I thought to myself.

'How did he know?'

Mammon shrugged his shoulders before he asked Levi.

"Whaddya mean? Who told you that?"

"It's no use playing dumb. I heard it from Lucifer."

"Lucifer? How the hell does he end up hearing every single thing that gets said around here?" Mammon shouted with a frown.

"That's what I wanna know too."

"That's not important," Levi told us before continuing.

"You know, I've heard it said that the time a fool spends thinking is WASTED time. I think that applies here. You're lucky to have so much time on your hands that you can sit around thinking up schemes like this. There's so much anime I need to watch, so many figurines and trading cards I need to organise, so many games I need to play just sitting there piled up..." Levi grumbled.

"As much as I wish I could watch a marathon of every TSL DVD, I don't have the time. So, why do YOU get to have so much free time? It's so not fair."

"Ah! I was waiting for him to say that. Levi's signature line: It's so not fair," Mammon mocked him making me chuckle at his impression of Levi.

"Shut up, Mammon. You're an idiot," Levi told him with a frown.

"You know, Levi, you need to start showin' your older brother some more respect!" Mammon demanded.

"Anyway, I don't know what it is your're plotting, but I'm not about to get all buddy-buddy with some human normie. Understand? I'm not like Mammon. Get that through your head," Levi told me after turning his attention towards me which made me frown.

"Hey! it's not like I'm buddy-buddy with this human, either! my body obeys the orders on it's own whether I like it or not. Like when I'm told 'stay' or 'go home' and stuff. It's not my fault!"

"That's because someone needs to keep an eye on you and make sure that you're up to your usual tricks," I told Mammon with a frown.

"Oh yeah, and who asked you to do that?"

"Lucifer did," I spoke with a smirk which made Mammon frown at me.

"Don't go getting any ideas in your head, human," Levi warned me."

"Look, the only idea that I have is this; why don't we compete to see who the bigger TSL fan is?"

"What? where did that come from?" Levi asked me with a surprised look.

"Simple, I can clearly tell it's bothering you so I decided to have a little competition between otakus."

"Do you seriously think you could beat me in a competion involving TSL? Haha, that's hilarious! lololol! as if I'd actually accept a challenge like that. I mean, I already know what the outcome would be."

"What's the matter? is the shut in Otaku Leviathan afraid of losing? especially to a female otaku like me?" I asked him with a smirk.

"Excuse me? Did you process anything I just said? where are you getting this idea that I might actually lose to you?"

"Ha! I knew it! it's written all over your face, you are afraid of losing," I taunted him surprised Mammon and it also made Levi angry.

"Excuse me? EXCUSE ME?! Are you processing ANYTHING I'm saying here?!" Levi shouted at me but, I was still confident.

"You hearing this Mammon, it looks like your little brother Levi is a chicken," I told him before making the clucking hen sound.

"Hey! Watch what you say, human!"

"Levi is an otaku!"

"Well, yeah, can't argue with ya there," Mammon told me.

I was about to say something else until finally Levi gave in.

"...Fine, if that's what you want. I'll do it. I accept your challenge. We'll compete to see which one of loves TSL more, you or me. Just one thing, though. If you lose, you might never make it back to the human world alive. But you still you want to do this, right?"

"Of course, I ain't afraid of you. We'll have our little competition after class."

"Sounds good to me," Levi told me before leaving the house.

I chuckled a little before Mammon asked me.

"Where on earth did that confidence come from?"

"I've dealt with bullies like Levi before besides, I've had worse."

I told Mammon before we followed after him.

TIME SKIP...

I was walking through the corridors with a book in my hand which was (Favourite Novel). I was going to read it in the library where it was quieter until I saw Satan and Beel.

"Satan, Beel!" I called out to them with a smile as I approached them.

"Hello there, (Y/n)," Satan greeted me with a smile before glancing at the book in my hands. "Is that (Favourite Novel)?"

"Yeah, that's right. It's my favourite book. I was going to read in the library since I have a free period," "I told him.

"Oh yeah, I've heard about your little contest with Levi."

"Are you hoping to find out what's in the attack room? Is that it?" Beel asked me.

"Not really, no," I tried to lie to them but, Beel was able to see right through me.

"But, you plan to use Levi's TSL sound rack to distract Lucifer, right?"

"Uh...how did you about that?" I asked him nervously.

"Mammon already told me. There's no need to try and hide it."

'That blabbermouth! I was hoping to discreet about that,' I shouted in my head.

"I'll let you in on a nice piece of information. Levi is the demon of envy. If you can work him in a jealous frenzy, he'll lose control of himself. Then he'll be guaranteed to slip up somehow, giving you an opening you can exploit."

"Why do I get the feeling that something bad will happen if I do that?" I asked Beel.

"Because it will. Once Levi loses control of himself, your life will also be in danger."

I gulped a little and I asked him.

"Thanks for telling me this but, why tell me something like that?"

"No reason, just felt like it, that's all," Beel shrugged it off.

"I'll give you a piece of advice, too," Satan spoke up after being quiet for some time.

"The DVD version of TSL is up to season 7 now. That's the most recent release. Meanwhile, the original book version is up to volume 8 at this point. Volume 9 of the book isn't out yet. But if you want to know what's going to happen in it, you should as Simeon."

"Why would Simeon know something like that?"

"Don't ask me...ask him," Satan told me before continuing. "...Also, it just so happens that isn't my best interest for you to beat Levi."

"Okay...I'll see you guys later. Thanks for the advice."

I told them before heading to the library.

'Make Levi jealous so he can slip up during the quiz...and ask Simeon about the recent book version of TSL...right, I'll do that the next time I see him. Hopefully nothing bad is going to happen.'

I thought to myself before I got to the library. I was about to open the doors until I heard whimpering and scratching from one of the classrooms. I followed the sound and then I opened the door to one of the empty classrooms until something jump up on me. I stumbled a little after catching whatever the creature jumped up on me.

"What the?!"

"Hey, (Y/n)!" a familiar voice spoke up.

"Raven!" I spoke happily before he licks my face happily.

"Hehehe, hey buddy," I told him as I petted his fur.

I carried Raven into the gardens so we can talk in private. I sat down on a nearby bench while he sat on my lap.

"It's been a while since I have seen you, Raven. Where have you been this whole time?" I asked him as I scratched his head.

"After the little incident back in the human world, I tried to follow after you but, by the time I got back here, you were already gone. I couldn't find you until I heard rumours about a certain human making a pact with a demon. I knew it had to be you so I came here to find you."

"And you have found me," I spoke with a grin. "But, why aren't you with your other species? I thought you would have gone back with them."

"I was going to but, I decided to stay with you for a while besides, you could use a guard dog," Raven spoke with a proud smirk or at least I think it looked like a smirk.

"Like being a demon pet or something?"

"I prefer the word Familiar and yes. I would love to stick with you."

"All right but, you've got to stay hidden. I'm staying at the house of Lamentation and I don't think Lucifer will thank me for bringing home a stray dog never mind a demon hound."

"You got it."

Raven told me before hides in my shadow. I giggled a little before I stood up from the bench and then I headed to the library to read for a while.
