Chapter 28 - Traitors

Dipper was in a forest.

A lush, green forest. He hasn't seen one of these in years. A tear almost slid from his eye as he prodded one of the soft petals of a brightly colored flower on a bush next to him.

And then he woke up.

He woke up in bed in the Fearmid during Weirdmageddon. The lights were off. He looked out the window to see the usual unnatural orange and red sky, but there was nothing out. It was nighttime. All of this is global and Dipper knew that there is not one single lush, green forest left.

He only had them in his dreams.

His shoulders slumped as he loosed a sigh.

Bill's head perked up from beside him as he stirred awake. "Pine Tree?"

"Yeah?" Dipper whispered, not daring to meet Bill's eyes.

"Why're you awake?" Bill rubbed Dipper's back in small circles and Dipper blushed as he remembered the events that happened right before they fell asleep.

"When does it end," Dipper mumbled.

"What?"

Dipper finally met Bill's gaze. "What do you want out of Weirdmageddon? You haven't specified that yet. When does it end?"

Dipper could have sworn hurt shown in Bill's beautiful eyes. The demon said, "I don't...know what I want yet." A shadow clouded over his eyes. "I can promise you that this will all be over when I find out and get it."

Dipper bit his lip and squirmed out of Bill's touch and finally fell asleep on the other side of the bed. He could feel Bill's eyes on his bare back as he drifted off again.

___

He was shook awake the next morning. "Bill?" He rubbed his eyes sleepily and turned around to face Bill, who was smiling softly at him.

"I think I already have what I wanted." Had Bill been thinking of his answer ever since Dipper confronted him about it last night?

"What is it?"

"You."

Dipper's mouth opened wide in shocking surprise. "Are...are you for real?"

Bill leaned forward and kissed him. "Of course. What would I be right now without you?"

He was right. If Dipper hadn't helped him out with dealing with human emotions, Bill would have probably gone crazy again.

"You helped me too," Dipper said. "You became my friend even when you were corrupted. It's like the real Bill was trying to break free."

"You're right." And then they kissed each other again.

And then Pyronica burst through their bedroom door and yelled, "STOP YOUR SMOOCHIN' AND COME TO THE THRONE ROOM, LOVE BIRDS!" And then she was gone.

Dipper stuck out his tongue after her and reluctantly sat up and stretched. "Guess we better get going," he groaned.

Bill shrugged, "I am still the king of this place and only I make the rules, so how about round two?"

___

They came down eventually. Dipper had to zip up his vest though to cover some marks up. He inwardly cursed at Bill for them.

Dipper was immediately impressed. The throne room had yellow and blue streamers hanging off the high ceilings and there was confetti of the same color sprinkled on the ground everywhere. There was otherworldly music playing, food on a long table as well as a certain liquid Dipper was sure he wasn't allowed to drink. He could smell the alcohol in it from where he was standing. He was still 17. All the henchmaniacs were dancing and giggling drunkenly.

Bill pulled Dipper's hand along until they reached Pyronica, who had a wide smile and her face was pinker than it already was. "What's uuuup?" She slurred, leaning on one side.

"Hi," Dipper replied.

"Thiiis is yourrr tiiime, have fuuuun! Have a drink!" And then she twirled away.

Dipper shrugged and turned to Bill. "I'm underage."

Bill rose a blond eyebrow. "You're immortal now, so it doesn't really matter. Also, there are no rules in Weirdmageddon, remember?"

"Gross. Also, I don't even know what else is in it besides alcohol." Dipper stuck out his tongue. "Besides, where did they even get alcohol?" He said to himself.

Bill chuckled. "It's alright, it doesn't matter. I won't drink anything either. Let's go mingle."

"Nooo, I hate social interaction."

"You'll live."

They chatted with other henchmaniacs for a bit and Dipper even let himself loose and danced with Pyro. He got a bit hungry since he hadn't eaten all morning so he dragged Bill with him to eat something from the table.

He was chewing his roll with Bill in a quieter corner of the throne room, watching the other demons party.

"So...have you figured out a way to end Weirdmageddon?" Dipper asked.

Bill was silent for a moment. "The only way I know how to end it is for me to die since I created it."

Dipper almost choked. "What? You can't die! We'll find another way." He leaned against Bill and used his free hand to hold Bill's. "We'll find another way," he said again.

Weirdmageddon will end. Just not with Bill dying. Not with any of these demons dying. They'll find a way.

There was a booming sound that almost knocked Dipper right off his feet. Henchmaniacs screamed and Bill growled. Purple smoke circled the entire throne room.

Tad Strange crashed the party.

Smoke curdled in Dipper's mouth without him realizing. Shit. Shit shit shit. "I thought he couldn't come here physically with the defenses raised!" Dipper yelled over the commotion.

"He can't!" Dipper could hardly see Bill as he spoke. "Unless...someone took the defenses down." He saw the tips of Bill's hair turn red.

The smoke cleared a bit and Dipper could see that some henchmaniacs were trying to get up from the blast, but they were too dizzy. They were all incapacitated from drinking the alcohol.

Tad had chosen the perfect time to come.

Some traitors probably lowered the defenses and told Tad about this party that was happening.

Dipper and Bill were the only ones sober.

"Well, well," Dipper heard Tad's booming voice over the yelling. "Looks like poor Bill Cipher and Dipper Pines are defenseless."

Seems like Tad didn't know he and Bill didn't drink anything.

That's when Dipper started feeling queasy and weak.

"Pine Tree? Are you alright?"

Dipper blinked the dizziness away and righted himself. "Yeah, I'm fine. What are we going to do?" He looked up to Bill.

"I need to distract him while you get me a book from the library."

Dipper nodded. "What is it called?" He asked urgently.

"It will find you. Now hurry."

"Bill, that doesn't make any sense!"

"Hurry!" Dipper ran away as fast as he could, despite the dizziness threatening to claim him, and teleported inside the library.

He almost fell to the ground. He felt like he just lost a large chunk of his magic, just due to that one jump. What was in that roll that he ate? The bread betrayed me!

He grits his teeth against the pain in his stomach and wondered where the hell this supposed book was.

He took a deep breath in the eerie silence and searched for the book with his mind.

A response immediately came.

It called to him. It was like it was singing out to him, luring him in.

Dipper opened his eyes and followed where it called to him. He ran. He ran as fast as he could.

He followed the imaginary string through bookshelves, through reading areas, down many stairs, and he was sure he was lost, but he kept following it as fast as he could.

"Where are you, human scum?!"

That sounded like Teeth.

"We're going to bring you to Strange just like he wanted! And then that'll teach Cipher! You can't hide forever."

8-Ball. They didn't seem too far away from him. He tried to winnow forward, but his magic—it was nearly depleted.

"We poisoned that bread roll you ate. We knew you and Bill were the only ones who ate human food."

Don't stop, don't stop.

Keep going, follow that string. That song. He wasn't even trying to pay attention to his surroundings now. He was going further down and down into the large library, and it seemed forgotten. He felt like he couldn't breathe because of the lack of air circulation. Every time he took a step, dust would come flying.

His breath came in wheezes now and that immortal strength was almost no use anymore. If he were human, he'd be dead. They'd capture him and kill him. Just like what Tad wanted.

"Bill Cipher used to be a great king. Now he's a little human but with magic, just like you. You both can be crushed easily like insects."

And it became dark. There was no light whatsoever down here. He kept running and brushed his hand against the wall so he wouldn't lose his balance. Where are you where are you where are you

Dipper conjured up all the magic that was left in him and prepared a final blow to get those henchmaniacs off his six.

Dipper turned to face the henchmaniacs first. Terror filled their eyes as they beheld what was in Dipper's palms.

Dipper closed his eyes shut and slung all of his fire power at them.

Before he passed out, he heard those traitors scream.

Dipper opened his eyes to darkness a few moments later and he gulped in air. And then he heard an explosion from the throne room. The book.

Dipper Pines didn't dare turn around where the two demons were lying dead on the floor as he found the book and used the very last chunk of his magic to teleport to the entrance of the library.

And then he ran again and did not look back.

I drew Bill and Dipper bc I love them.
