Chapter 8

(So just as a reminder, I know that I said that my stories don't follow a particular time line, and I'm probably going to jump around eras, I feel like Ive missed out by skipping Alex's long hair faze, so there might be a huge time skip coming up, where there will be flashbacks to a time with long hair. I dunno, and it might be confusing but just stick with it, not worrying about time makes for a better story in my opinion.)

(Also just enjoy the gif, it doesn't exactly go with any part in particular but you can probably imagine it in there somewhere.)

Today was the day we would all be leaving for tour.

Since it wasn't a big tour, we were just going around England, we took some big vans.

Not a huge bus like I'm sure we'll one day have, but for now we had a small crew in one van, with a trailer attached that held all of the equipment, and me and the boys were in another van, where the boys would switch off driving if the others got tired.

Currently, me and Nick were sitting in our living room, all of our bags already packed in the trunk.

We said goodbye to a teary eyed mum and a proud dad.

As me and Nick stepped foot outside the door, and it shut, I grabbed Nick's hand.

He turned towards me and I gave him a smile just before I launched into his arms.

We hugged for a minute. "Thank you for bringing me, Nick." I whispered into his ear.

"No problem," he chuckled, his deep voice ringing in my ear and giving me comfort. "I'd never leave you behind." he said.

I'd never leave you behind.

Those words made me feel at ease, since I was quite nervous.

We hopped into the van, and the crew members hopped into the other van, driving after us as we went to each boys house, to pick them up.

We stopped at Matt's flat first.

He jogged out his front door, bags in hand.

As he opened the trunk, I turned around in the back seat, giving him a smile as he settled his bag.

He looked up at me and gave me a grin.

"Hey, Sare." he commented, just before closing the door and jogging around to van door, climbing into the passenger seat.

Nick and Matt made small talk as we made our way to Jaime's.

Soon we were there, and the process repeated, Jamie jogging up to the car, settling his bag, and climbing into the seats in front of mine.

This van was odd, but it was good for what we were doing.

There were the two front seats, for driver and passenger, then a row that could sit two or three  by a sliding door, and behind those seats were another row, which is where I sat.

There were 8 windows counting the front and back windshields.

Jamie turned around to me, smiling as he did so.

He'd been much happier lately.

"Hey!" he smiled.

"Hi, Jamie!" I smiled back, playing with the ends of my long brown curly hair.

"Y'know, me girl is gonna come to some of the shows." he commented.

"Is she?" I was excited to hear, I hadn't met her before, but Jamie spoke about her like she was a goddess, which made her seem exactly like one.

"Yeah, and I've got you to thank for that!" he cheered, bringing his hand over to the top of my head and ruffling my hair.

My face scrunched up as he did so, and I gave him a smile.

"That advice helped me, and after talking it out me and 'er are going to be alright." he smiled.

"I'm glad that I could help!" I beamed.

He looked me over for a moment.

"I swear, you and Nick could pass as twins." he commented.

I laughed as I looked towards the front, where Nick had turned around, listening in.

He smiled.

"We really could." He commented, and Jamie turned around to smile at him.

I let a light chuckle escape from my mouth.

Suddenly, the trunk opened, and Alex Turner himself was placing his bag in the back.

He had a cigarette dangling from his lips and sunglasses on.

He closed the trunk and then climbed in the door, sliding in next to Jamie.

"Alright, lads!" He cheered, his quiet demeanor diminishing, and becoming one of excitement.

They all greeted each other and then we were beginning our drive, heading towards the high way.

"Here's to us, boys." Nick called out as we pulled onto the ramp, making our way to the next few cities over.

As we drove along, Nick played music, to which all the boys sang along, joking around and overall being goofballs.

I laughed as they all sang and danced badly.

Well... Not too badly.

Nick was a good singer, in my opinion.

Plus, all the boys in the band contributed to Background vocals.

Still, they joked around, seeming not to have a care in the world, and that's what made me really happy.

I loved the positivity that spilled out of this van.

I even sang and danced along to the music with the rest of them.

Probably an hour or two later, adverts began to play, so we all began wiping our teary eyes and calming down from our laughing highs.

Now, The boys were on a phone call, which was being played on speaker.

They were talking to their manager about the first few shows, how many tickets were sold, which hotel we'd be staying at, things like that.

Now, looking out the window, it had occurred to me that Alex hadn't even acknowledged me yet.

Even when he was putting his bag in the back, he didn't say hello like the rest of the boys, or smile at me, even when he climbed in the van, he simply sat and that was the end of it.

Matt was sideways in the front passenger seat, holding the phone so that all the boys could hear, while Jamie and Alex were leaning forward.

I leant forward as well, folding my arms and hanging them over the back of the seat, staring between the four boys as they listened to an elder man speak.

Alex sat back suddenly, and bumped into my arms.

I tried not to squeak as I moved over quickly, putting myself completely being Jamie, rather than in the middle.

"Sorry." I commented quickly, and quietly.

He waved a hand and shook his head.

"Don't worry about it." he said softly, finally looking towards me and giving me one of those lopsided smiles that made my head spin.

He patted the area on the top of the seat next to him, motioning for me to come closer, back to where I was.

I scooted closer, removing my right arm from the seat, and placing my head right next to Alex's, my left arm still resting on the seat.

My head was an inch or three away from his, and I could smell his cologne, mixed with the smell of cigarettes.

Though I didn't like cigs, they smelt like heaven on him.

I rest my chin on the seat, and Alex leant his head against mine softly.

Though he couldn't see my face well from this angle, I bit my lip, hoping that my next movement would be acceptable.

I threw my right arm over the seat, and around Al's shoulder, letting my hand dangle my his chest.

He reached up and grabbed my hand, wiggling it back and forth before letting go, patting it and allowing his hand to drop back down to his lap.

I felt a bit of heat rush to my cheeks, and then Jamie sat back, so I threw my other arm around him, hoping that it would make my action seem more casual than it was.

After another half an hour on the phone, the man finally hung up, and we all just relaxed as nice music played in the background.

Every once in a while someone would sing along or hum softly to the song playing.

I had at this point retracted back to my seat, waiting for the long ride to be over, as I looked out the window at the passing scenery.

Thoughts raced through my mind about Alex, and all the interactions that we'd ever had.

I was so lost in thoughts of him, that I hadn't noticed him carefully getting up from his seat, and climbing into the one next to mine, as gazed at me.

He pulled a small notepad out of his pocket and a pen, drawing four lines.

"Tic tac toe?" he asked, taking off his sunglasses and smiling at me.
