Chapter 47

Alex and I spent a few hours talking, and reminiscing.

We admit many things, and times that we came close to sharing our feelings to one another.

Alex, with much difficulty even gave me an insight of what was going on through his head during certain rough spots.

Sometimes, when he was having extreme difficulty opening up and explaining something, since he said he was bad with words, he would shake a bit.

Id grab his hand and wait until he found the right words that he wished to express.

It was so interesting.

I knew that I knew Alex, and I had observed him enough to pick up on many things and emotions, but this felt like a whole new Alex.

And from what I could tell, he was a bit frightened of that.

Perhaps he feared that I would treat him differently, but I wouldn't.

Not in the way that he feared.

Id certainly treat him a bit different in the sense that I was his girlfriend now, but that would only be a bit more interaction.

I wouldn't publicly display affection where it wasn't wanted, or distract him from anything.

It felt a bit complicated, but you'll see as we continue this journey.

We spoke until I was tired again, and I fell asleep in his arms.

It was the next morning, and I now was beginning to feel hunger return to my stomach.

I let out a sigh, turning and placing my face into Alex's neck once more.

He rubbed my shoulder.

"How are you feeling, love?" He asked softly.

"A bit hungry. But certainly better... Thank you." I said.

He let out a soft chuckle.

"I'm no stranger to that. No need to thank me. How about I make you some food? Home made chicken Noodle soup sound tasty?" He asked.

"Mums recipe?" I ask, perking up and backing up to look at him.

He gave a lopsided smile.

"Of course." He said.

I'd had his mums chicken Noodle soup before, and Jesus, was it amazing.

If Al knew how to make it, and he was actually offering to cook, I was in no position to turn it down, nor would I ever.

Penny was an amazing cook.

"Come on then," he stood up and stretched, scratching his head lazily. "Let's get some food in you."

He leant down, offering a piggy back ride.

I smiled, standing carefully on the bed, using his shoulders as a balance beacon and wrapping my legs around his waist.
He carried me to the kitchen and set me in an isle chair.

He moved to the stove, getting out ingredients as he practically became his mother.

I could literally see him become her, as he checked off items in his head, getting out ever tool neccessary for the food.

I smiled at him as I laid my head on the counter.

About an hour later, everything was in a pot, and he was stirring it, throwing in a few soft spices before closing the lid.

He turned around, wiping his brow as if he had done a hard days work, and smiled.

"Should be done in half an hour or so."

I looked him up and down before letting soft giggles escape my mouth.

He was so beautiful in every way.

Many things he did were like an art.

"What?" He smiled, letting a bit of laughter fall from his own lips.

I shook my head, looking down as I giggled again.

He giggled again in return.

"What?" He asked again, a bit more persistance to his voice.
"You're just so cool." I laughed.

"What is that supposed to mean?" He asked.

"I think you mean thank you." I laughed.

"Oh come on!" He said.

"You're just... So passionate about everything. Everything that you do is so beautiful, and even when you're being simple it somehow ends up beautiful." I spew out.

He leans back on the counter, a smile brightly sat on his face.

"You're cute." He said.

"Come on, let's get you in the living room, all cozy on the couch." He said, coming over and picking me up bridal style.

He carried me into the living room and laid me gently on the couch, grabbing the blanket on the back of it and covering me with it, giving me a few extra cushy pillows.

He turned on the tv, and left it on a low volume.

Suddenly, a phone rang.

Alex pulled out his cell phone, and then answered it, glancing over to me.

"Hello?" He said.

There was noise on the other line.

His eyes met mine and he bit his lip.

"Yeah. She's here." He said.

My eyes went wide.

Then, he handed the phone to me and I held it up to my ear.

"Hello?" I said.

"Sarah? Hey! Haven't been able to get a hold of you. What gives?"

...

Van.

Alex smiled at me sadly, kissing my cheek and leaving the room.

He was aware that not being as close to Van as I was kind of bummed me out.

"Hey... Sorry... Had a lot going on." I said.

"What kind of things? After you ran out of my party, you dissapeared off the face of the earth." He laughed.

"Yeah... Eh, maybe we should hang out soon? Catch up?" I offer.

The things that have happened so far, I'd much rather tell him in person.

Over the phone just doesn't feel right, especially something as major as unintentionally almost ending my life.

In a weird way, I was almost scared.

I was almost scared that Van would think that I was idiotic.

I'm sure he would, anyone would if they had seen what I had done.

But it is all okay now.

I know that this isn't a way to get what you want, it just happened to work out that way, and I am honestly so grateful.

"Sarah?"

"Huh?" I snapped out of my thoughts.

"I said that I'd like that. What day works for you?" He asks.

"Maybe tomorrow, or the day after. I'm free whenever, really." I say.

"Alright. Well, how about tomorrow afternoon, my home?" He offers.

"Sure. Sounds good." I reply.

"Alright. See you then. Love you." He says.

"Love you too, bye."

He hangs up and not too long later, Alex comes out with two bowls of soup.

He sits down next to me, pulling the coffee table close to the couch and pushing a bowl infront of me.

Boy, does it smell heavenly.
