Chapter 38
Thump.
I was laying cozily in the bed that I had drifted off in not too long ago, and I reached my hand out to feel Alex.
He wasn't there.
I opened my eyes and sat up, finding him face first on the floor by the door.
"Alex?" I called out curiously.
A couple seconds of silence.
"Yes?" His speech was muffled.
"... What are you doing?"
A couple seconds of silence.
"Alex?"
"I thought maybe I could get up..."
"And?"
"I was weak." He said in a defeated tone.
"I can see that!" I snorted.
"Don't patronize me woman." He mumbled.
I giggled, hopping out of the bed and rushing over to him.
I slowly helped him up, then helped him stand.
He held onto my shoulders tightly.
His eyes were a bit wide and he was rather shakey.
"You're alright." I softly stated.
He gulped.
"Sarah...?" He said, backing up a bit, and I followed, as his hands were on my shoulders.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Hold me up." He said just before collapsing against the wall.
I pushed myself into him to keep him up, and he wrapped his arms around me.
He sighed into my neck.
I didn't know what to do.
I was tightly pressing Alex between me and the wall, and he was slumped into me, face in my neck and arms firmly around my body.
After a minute or so, I went stiff at the feeling of his lips on my neck.
He planted a soft, long, sweet kiss on my neck.
"Could you help me to the bathroom?" He asked.
I nodded, letting him put his arm around my neck to support himself, as I placed a hand around his waist.
I slowly helped him make his way to the bathroom, and he went in, closing the door.
I waited outside patiently.
I placed my fingers on the place where he had kissed, and smiled to myself.
Then, I heard the sink turn off, and he opened the door, looking up and smiling at me through his messy hair.
I smiled back.
"Come on, let's get you back in bed."
He reached his arms out like a little kid reaching for their parent, silently begging to be picked up.
I began to walk over, and place a hand behind his back, but he grabbed me and hugged me instead.
Why did he keep doing this?
The thought raced around my head, but it quickly became unimportant when I began to hug back.
We stayed there for a minute before he backed up, putting his arm around me instead for support.
It was quiet as I helped him back into the room, and into the bed.
He laid down softly, and stared at the ceiling.
Things like this happened for the next few days.
~two days later~
Everyone said that it was okay for Alex to eat solid food again.
He didn't really need my help out of bed anymore, but I stayed beside him just in case.
We were in his kitchen, currently.
"Grilled cheese and soup?" I asked, buying my lip and smiling.
He smiled at me as he rested his chin on his arms on the table.
"I'll take that as a yes."
I tied my hair back and began to go to work, crafting a beautiful grilled cheese and heating up some soup.
I felt his eyes on me the whole time, and I didn't mind but it made a light blush crawl to my cheeks.
One that I couldn't hide with ny curly hair back in a pony tail.
I made an effort to turn around every once in a while and give a sneaky smile to Alex, and every time in response he'd cock an eyebrow up, while the corners of his mouth would raise slightly.
His eyes followed me effortlessly.
When it was all done, I dished it up and served it infront of him.
He sat up, hunger filling his eyes as he inhaled.
He stared at the food. He hadn't eaten in a few days.
"Eat slowly." I pointed out.
He nodded. As he began to eat, a very satisfied smile sat on his lips.
Then, he bit into the grilled cheese.
He let out an over dramatic groan.
"How can a grilled cheese taste so bloody good?!"
"I put love into it!" I joked.
"You should put love into things more often." He said, taking another bite.
I turned my head to the side and he stopped and stared at me.
"Yeah no, that didn't make sense to me either."
Then he continued eating.
I felt daring, though I was feeling nervous at the thought of my next action.
I took my hair down, walked around to the otherside of the isle, putting my hand on one side of his head and pushing it slightly towards me as I pressed a kiss on his temple.
I could have sworn that I'd felt him lean into me.
I sat next to him in a chair then, pulling out my phone as I'd sworn that I'd felt it vibrate.
'Guess who is settled into their new flat? xx'
The text read.
It was from Van.
I also had another text.
It was from Matty.
'How's the bloke? How are you? xx'
I tilted my head to the side, noting that the double kiss was used a lot in texts.
'He's much better. Thank goodness. I'm alright, too. How are you and George?'
I sent back.
"Talking about me, are we?" Alex said, I turned to look at him, and he had the more then half eaten grilled cheese in his hands, but he leant over, looking at my phone.
"Reading my messages now, are we, Turner?" I asked.
He smiled and took another bite of his food.
"Who you talkin to anyway?" He asked.
"Matty. He was just wondering how you were doing."
He nodded.
"I'm practically all better after this amazing Fucking grilled cheese." He said.
I laughed.
"What can I say? I'm just an amazing cook!" I said jokingly.
Then I sent a text off to Van, asking him for the address and a day and time to come over because I'd love to go to his new flat.
He sent back his address as well as an invite to a "house warming" party.
I smiled at the invite.
Things were looking better over the past few days.
What could go wrong now?
