Chapter 35

After finally telling Nick to just get down here, I hung up, and was holding Alex in my arms.

His bloodshot eyes were half lidded.

They were opening and closing as if he were trying to stay awake.

I rocked him back and forth softly as I cried.

His eyes moved from the sky to my face.

I ran my hand through his hair, and his eyes followed a tear as it slipped down my cheek.

"Quit crying for me." He said.

"Alex, what happened to you?" I asked.

He then jerked violently, and pushed me away from him as he wretched.

More disgusting bile flew out his mouth and his body lurched in a nightmarish way as he vomited.

I moved to his side quickly.

I need to get myself together.

I need to help him.

He waved his hand at me, as he gagged, and I thought perhaps he was trying to usher me away, but when his hand made contact with my own, he grabbed it, and held it so tightly that it was painful.

I didn't care.

I held on just as tightly, though, careful as to not dig my nails into his hand.

"You're okay, Alex, you're okay..." I said, as he heaved in air.

His eyes were wide as he stared down at the grass.

He was shaking, and suddenly, he did something that I never thought I'd see.

He spat, then he sat up, shakily.

He looked at me, releasing my hand, and there were tears welling in his eyes as he stared into my eyes.

Then, I saw it.

He broke.

The tears began flowing from his eyes, and ungodly, hoarse, heart wrenching noises escaped his mouth.

I grabbed his shoulder, and pulled him into me, away from the sick.

He latched onto me, gripping my shirt as if he let go, he'd die.

I wrapped my arms around him, holding him securely.

He shaked as his sobs racked his body.

My heart was practically microscopic dust at this point.

I planted soft kisses on his head, which was burried in my neck.

His face was hot, and I felt his tears going on my neck and soaking into my shirt.

His crying finally died down, and he went quiet.

I wanted to back him up and look at him, but I didn't want to remove him from the mould of my body.

I was scared.

And, according to what came from his mouth next, I wasn't alone.

"I'm scared."

It was so quiet, and so hoarse, that I almost didn't catch it.

I almost hadn't heard him at all, yet at the same time, the two words held so much power that i felt like they were being screamed at me through a megaphone.

This is what it took for me to break and back him up.

His face was bright red, yet at the same time it was drained of pigment, leaving the red to be all that exsisted.

He could have been mistaken for dead if he just laid on the ground and held still.

I put my hands on either side of his face.

His gaze was cast down.

I brushed my hand over the nasty bruise on the right side of his jaw.

His face contorted in pain.

"Who did this to you?"

He didn't answer.

"Alex, please, don't be scared. I'm right here." I said, stroking his face while wiping his tears away.

He looked up into my eyes, and i saw more water rushing to his.

He slowly placed himself against me again, pressing his face to my neck.

I looked up and saw Nick, jogging out from behind a bush.

He looked a bit panicked and he looked around.

When he spotted us, he then began to quickly walk over, which turned into a jog.

He looked around the area.

"Oh god, what the fuck happened ?!" He said, shock and worry lacing his words.

"I don't know, but we need to help him." I said.

Nick swallowed.

He then nodded.

"Come on, help me get him up." He said, coming to the other side of Alex and grabbing his arm.

I felt his grip tighten around me, as if he didn't want to be seperated from me.

"Come on," I cooed. "Let's get you home."

We helped him stand finally, which he could barely do.

We helped him limp back to the main area in the park.

Matty spotted me and the boys and quickly jogged over. "Are you alright?" He asked, coming to my side, "Is he alright?"

"I'm fine. I don't know about him." I said as we continued to struggle bringing him along.

Matty bit his lip.

"George!" He called over, and George immediately stood, and jogged over to us.

"Need a 'and?" He asked, his deep voice bringing some calm into me.

He stepped forward, and picked Alex up as if were a doll.

He was careful, and held him bridal style.

"Where to?" He asked.

"Just over here, to me car, cheers mate." Nick said, instructing George in the direction of the car.

I stood still with Matty by my side.

We watched them carry Alex, and Matty bit his nails.

Then, he turned to me, his curly hair bouncing as he did so.

"Come 'ere, then." He said, bringing me into his thin frame.

I latched onto him, letting myself relax a bit under his warm, protective hold.

I inhaled his scent, the scent of faint flowers and cigs. He also carried the scent of some sort of cologne, that was was extremely faint, and pleasant to the nose.

I thought for a moment, perhaps, it wasnt a cologne, and just the way he smelt.

He placed a soft kiss a top my head.

"You're alright. It'll be alright." He coaxed.

"I hope so. Thank you. I'm sorry that this happened." I murmured into his warm chest.

"No, no, love... You didn't know. We'd drop anything for you to make sure that you are okay." Matty said.

"Thank you." I said, pushing myself closer to him.

"No problem. Now, put on a smile. Dont fancy seein' that frown there like that." He said, backing me up and kissing wither of my cheeks.

I chuckled softly.

"Sarah!" Nick called, and me and Matty jogged over to his car.

"Let's get him home." He said.

I nodded.

"Bye, Matty." I gave him a hug.

"Bye, George. It was great to meet you." I said, and he enveloped me in his large arms.

The man was 6'5 for christs sake.

Then, we parted, and i hopped in the back, where Alex was laying down, and Nick climbed in the drivers seat.

I sat on the floor of the vehicle, infront of Alex's face.

He looked totally swamped and sick.

I rest my forehead against his softly as i stroked my hand through his hair.

"You'll be okay..." I whispered, softly.

God, I hope that you'll be okay.
