Chapter 29
Curiosity and concern took over as I got up from the couch maybe 5 minutes later.
I left the room in search of Alex.
If anywhere, I figured that he would be out back.
It was around 11 pm, and it was quite dark here, but I stepped out the back door anyway.
I heard Alex's voice and quickly stepped back inside.
He was on the phone.
I kept the door open, only an inch.
I just wanted to hear.
"No." He snapped into the device.
There was a pause.
"Stop fucking with me." He growled.
I felt goosebumps cover my skin.
"Stop just st-"
He took a deep breath.
"FUCKING STOP!" he screamed.
As I watched, he shook with anger.
It took all I had in me not to run out, and take the phone from his hands.
Whoever the hell he was talking to, he was upset, and they seemed to only be making it worse, and it really hurt watching him be so upset.
He hung up and looked like he was about to throw the phone.
He stopped and instead shoved it in his pocket.
He threw his cig and stomped it out as he paced quickly a few times.
He finally approached the wall and set his arms and head against it.
His breathing was so heavy that I could hear it from where air stood.
I finally gulped and stepped out.
I walked slowly up to him.
I touched his shoulder and he jerked back violently, as if ready to attack what ever was touching him.
I jumped back and shook slightly as I watched the anger flood through his eyes.
He was still panting and he stared at me for a few moments.
I took a step back out of fear.
"No," he mumbled.
He reached forward and grabbed my arms, bringing me to him.
He wrapped his arms around my body and hugged me tightly.
He was quivering.
"Are you okay?" I asked shakily.
He didn't respond, but he let out a small noise, and nuzzled his face into my neck.
I hugged him back as tightly as I could.
"You're okay..." I whispered.
I don't know how long we stood there, but his shakes and pants gradually slowed to a stop.
He was just holding me tightly now.
"Alex, please say something..." I murmured.
As much as I wanted to comfort him, he was scaring me a bit.
"Something..." He mumbled.
I couldn't help but let out a chuckle.
I felt Alex smile against my shoulder.
He finally backed up and he turned his head away quickly.
He wiped his face.
Was he crying?
He turned back towards me, eyes slightly red.
He was crying...
I felt my heart shatter.
He offered me a smile.
"Let's go back inside before the boys think that I've run off with Ye." He said, slipping on his sun glasses.
"Alex, It's night time." I point out.
He frowns for a moment.
"So?" He asks.
"You put on sunglasses." I said.
He looked down for a moment.
"I know..." He said.
It almost shocked me when he said it, as his voice came out so small and so quiet, I could hardly believe that the angry person I saw earlier was Alex.
"N-nevermind... It's fine." I said.
He nodded.
"I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can so I can..." He sang softly.
I laughed, remembering the tune.
We stood there for a moment.
I turned around and began to walk back to the door.
"Sarah?" He called out.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Thank you." He said.
"For what?" I asked, turning around fully to face him.
He shrugged. "Everything. Being theraputic." He said.
"Well... You're welcome, but I don't know how I am theraputic." I said.
"Dunno... You're just so calm. I wish I were Calm Like You." He said.
"You are. I'm not that calm." I replied.
"No, you just... Having you around is nice." He finally said.
"How so, Mr.Turner?" I asked.
"You're soft, for one. So you're easy to sleep on." He laughed.
I laughed as well.
"You're just a nice energy to have around. Just that hug... I just needed that. So thank you." He mumbled.
I sighed.
I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around him.
"You're welcome." I whispered.
We then went back inside, as if nothing had happened.
That night, when I couldn't sleep, I went outside.
Alex was there, and it seemed to be an understanding without words that I jump over to his balcony.
We sat there, not really speaking for the whole of the time that we were up, which was only an hour or so.
Then, we simply went back to our own rooms, and went to sleep.
~~~
Today was the day.
It was the last day of tour.
We were playing a home show, making our way back to Sheffield with quite a bit of a drive.
We were in the venue now.
Mom and Dad were here, along with Christine and Jane.
Van had left us and in the rest of the time that we were gone he had moved to Sheffield.
He was with our family.
It had been an interesting three months, and it flew by faster than I could have ever imagined.
According to Nick, Alex already had some ideas for a new album.
They'd probably hang low for a bit, then jump right into studio.
They'd gained quite a bit of a following over the past few months.
The boys were insanely relaxed.
We were in our home town.
There was no pressure.
"I'm gonna pop off real quick and say hello to everyone." I said, jogging out the door.
I ran out to the stage.
People hadnt been let in yet, but we managed to get our family and friends in.
They all sat in the front.
I dropped down into the asiles and jogged over to them.
"Sweetheart!" My mum yelled.
I went into her arms immediately.
"Oh god, look at you. An age and three months older. My sweetheart." She said.
I moved on to my dad, who hadn't really said much other than "We missed you."
I got to Van and a large smile bloomed across his face as his eyes lit up.
"My girl." He said, opening his arms.
I fell straight into his arms, (like a drunk whose been on it all morning B) )
I hugged him tightly as he planted kisses all over the top of my head.
When I parted from him I hugged Christine.
"It's so good to see you, love!" She cheered.
"You, too!"
I moved on and hugged Jane.
"Sarah!" She cheered.
I laughed.
We parted and I smiled at them all.
Id miss the closeness between me and the boys and Alex.
But hell, did it feel good to be home.
