Chapter 25
I stayed pretty silent for the rest of the night.
It was just one of those days, perhaps.
The boys were quite normal, though.
As we drove back to the hot, I stared out the window, biting my lip.
Nick was driving, as usual.
Matt was in the passenger seat, Jamie infront of me and Alex next to him.
Van next to me.
I stared out into the night, watching everything pass us by.
The few lights from the posts on the street, the few people, the resturants.
The dark, menacing trees.
The bone chilling bars.
Tha' knows.
We soon reached the hotel, and almost in a blur, we were upstairs and in our designated rooms.
Everyone had changed, including me.
Back to my red plaid pajamas.
I was sitting on the couch, staring at the floor.
Nick had fallen asleep, and so had Matt.
They had exherted a little more energy than usual tonight.
They really got into it.
Van came out of the bathroom.
I continued my stare at the floor.
Soon, Van sat down infront of me, on the floor.
He ducked a little, to make sure that his eyes met mine as he placed a hand on my cheek.
"You okay? Been a bit quiet. Seem a bit out of it." He whispered softly.
I looked into his beautiful blue eyes.
"I'm alright."
"You're just tired. Let's get you some rest." He smiled.
I smiled back at him.
Perhaps I did need some rest.
Though, as Van laid down, and wrapped me in his arms, I only slept for maybe two hours.
I woke up in the middle of the night.
It was around 3 AM again.
I was tired and wide awake all at the same time.
I slowly pried myself away from the very still Van.
It was odd how still he was.
Almost felt like a fake slumber.
I got up and went to the balcony door again.
I peeked out just to find Alex on the phone, with a cig.
This was the same sight I had seen every time I looked out at night.
He was talking rather fast, as if he needed to get out what he was saying or he would never do so again.
He stopped speaking randomly and his face went blank.
He pulled the phone away from his ear and gazed at it in shock as the screen went dark.
He'd been hung up on.
He shoved the phone into his pocket with a certain amount of violence and disdain.
I stepped outside and he looked over to me.
"Sarah?" He asked.
"I think so," I said, looking at myself. "I don't think I am anyone else."
I plopped down on a chair and sighed.
This whole awake at night thing didn't sit well with me.
Even if I was only awake for an hour or two.
He gazed out into the night for a moment.
"Have any nightmares?" He inquired.
"One or two. Nothing too bad, you know?" I commented.
"Mm..." He hummed in response.
"Why dont you come over to my room? We can watch a film or something. It might help you sleep." He suggested after a few minutes of silence.
I turned the thought over in my head for a minute or so.
"What about Jamie? What if he wakes up?" I asked.
"We're not doing drugs, Sarah. Just watching a film, Im sure he won't care. He's a heavy sleeper anyway." He explained.
I sat there for another minute.
"I suppose I wouldn't mind the company. Plus, It's a bit cold out here." I agreed.
He nodded.
"I don't want to use the door, It's too noisy." I told him, walking over to the railing.
"Woah, woah, Woah, no!" He rushed to the bar.
"What? You climbed over the bar last time! Why can't I?" I whined.
"I don't want you to get hurt." He said.
"It's just a few feet. I'll be fine!" I said.
"It's a good 5 or so." He replied.
"Be ready to catch me, then." I commented, climbing over and jumping.
He caught me, stumbling back a bit.
"Jesus..." He murmured.
"What film do you want to watch?" He asked me.
I shrug, "I dunno, anything is fine." I said, brushing myself off.
"Alright." He said.
We slowly stepped inside.
As Alex weaved around to his bag, I began to think about the day.
My attitude seemed different today.
The dark room gave me space to think.
I suppose that I was just tired and still a bit shaken up.
I knew that I would be better tomorrow.
Then it really hit me.
I'm in Alex Turner's room.
I'm in his hotel room, about to watch a film with him at three in the morning.
He pulled out a dvd from his bag, and quickly walked over to the television, which was on and at a low volume.
He grabbed the remote, and inserted the disk.
He jogged over to his bed and sat down, leaning against the head board.
I glanced over at the sleeping Jamie that laid on the other bed.
Alex waved his hand at me and motioned me over.
I slowly walked towards the man, observing his white shirt and green plaid pants.
I looked at his messy, clean hair.
He was so terribly cute.
He pat the seat next to him and I hopped gently on the bed.
I sat a foot or two away from him as he hit play on the dvd and turned on the captions, keeping the television just loud enough to hear, but just low enough as to not disturb the sleeping Jamie.
It was The Labyrinth.
I giggled. The main character was called Sarah.
I recognized the image of her in the park, reciting the lines that I'd heard a thousand times.
It started raining and she ran home, running into her parent shortly before checking on her brother Toby.
Before I knew it, I felt my eyes begin to droop.
I saw David Bowie as Jared the Goblin King and i slumped down a but further.
Eventually, Alex looked over at me.
"You tired now?" He asked.
I nodded and yawned.
He scoot himself towards me, wrapping an arm around me.
"Get some sleep." He whispered, pulling me into his chest.
I heard the faint sounds of Jared singing "Dance magic dance..." And I felt a warm pair of lips graze my cheek.
At any other time, I would be screaming inside.
Id be blushing and feeling warm.
But right now, the gesture was comforting.
It made my heart beat a little, sure. But I fell asleep quickly, inhaling the scent of Mr. Alex Turner himself.
