The day was today.
It was my birthday.
We'd been on the road for about a week now, and we were quite a few towns over from our High Green area.
I arose from the hotel couch just to be scared by Nick sitting on the other end, smiling at me.
"Morning, Pip." He said in a soft, warm voice.
I sat up and looked around, all of The boys and the girls were gathered in the room, sitting around and looking at me with smiles.
"What's this about?" I asked groggily.
Nick pulled a small box from behind his back.
"Happy Birthday, pip."
I looked at it then up at his face, then around to everyone.
"Oh no, you didn't have to..." I said, turning back to Nick and grabbing the box gently.
I untied the bow slowly, then opened it up.
I felt water rush to my eyes.
It was a gold chained necklace with a charm on it that in fancy script said O'Malley on it.
"Nick..." I said, leaning forward and giving him a hug.
He held me tightly.
"Thank you so much, this is beautiful." I said as we parted.
I set it next to me and Matt pushed another box towards me.
"You lot didn't have to buy me presents." I laughed, sitting up properly and taking the box.
"Well, too late. We all got you something." Jamie spoke up, offering a smile.
I smiled back and opened Matt's gift.
"Two signed drumsticks from the man himself, Matt Helders." He said, running his hands through his hair and wriggling his eyebrows.
I laughed quite hard.
"I'll cherish these always." I laughed, leaning over to him and giving him a hug.
Jane gave me a box, which I unwrapped.
It contained a knee length black skirt that was rather perfect and wavey. It also had a pair of knee socks, and soft shorts to wear underneath, in case of physical activity in which the skirt might come up.
"Thank you so much, Jane! I'll wear this today!" I smiled.
She smiled brightly and gave me a hug.
Jamie handed me a bag, and I reached in to see a pair of new high top black chucks.
"Jamie! You really... You really didn't have to do this!" I said, my eyes going wide.
"They're not expensive, only like 20 pounds, It's not a problem." He smiled.
I jumped up and gave him a big hug... Well... As big of a hug as I could give the giant man.
Christine pushed a bag in my direction, and I opened it.
A shirt, an Arctic Monkeys shirt!
"Is this a new design?!" I exclaimed.
"Yup. The only one of It's kind, currently!" Christine chimed. "Designed by your truly!" She smiled.
It said Arctic Monkeys on it, and it had song titles scattered around, as well as the tour dates on the back.
"Thank you so much, this is absolutely stunning!" I said, giving her a hug.
"I've got a surprise." Alex said.
"But It's not here. You'll get it later." He continued.
I gave all of them a hug one more time and thanked them.
I'd dressed in all my knew clothing, running my hands down the skirt as I stepped infront of everyone.
"You look absolutely wonderful!" Christine cheered.
Jane nodded, and all the boys agreed.
I smiled.
First the boys and girls took me out for breakfast, and I was very happy.
We had walked around the new town a bit, stopped for a small lunch type snack, then walked around more.
By the time we had finished, it was time to go to the venue.
"Have you enjoyed your day, pip?" Nick asked, throwing an arm around me.
"Yes, It's been amazing!" I exclaimed back.
"I'm glad." He replied.
My phone rang and I quickly answered it.
"Happy birthday to you... Cha cha Cha... Happy birthday to you... Cha Cha Cha... Happy birthday dear Sarah... Cha Cha Cha... Happy birthday to you...!"
I heard my parents sing.
"Happy birthday, my love!" My mom said.
"Thank you, mum!" I replied.
"Oh, you're so grown now... We miss you. Did you have a good day? What did the boys get you?"
I answered all of mums questions and even talked to dad, which took the whole walk to the venue.
Once we arrived, we stepped in, and went to the green room.
"Sarah," Alex said, grabbing my arm.
"Yeah?" I asked, turning to look at him.
"I'd like to give you your present now." He said.
"O-okay..."
I gulped.
"Close your eyes." He said.
I felt nerves take over me as I did so.
Please, kiss me.
Please, kiss me.
Even on the cheek, just do it.
I chanted in my mind.
But i felt him grab my arms and guide me somewhere.
When he did, we walked for a bit, then he told me to open my eyes.
"Here you go." He said, handing me a pack of guitar picks.
I looked down at them and smiled.
"These are really nice, Alex... But, I don't own a guitar."
He let a small smile sit at his lips and he looked past me, gesturing behind me.
"W-wait..." My eyes went wide and I turned around.
There, on a stand, next to a case, there before me was an acoustic guitar.
It was perfect and the wood looked absolutely flawless.
"Oh my god." I said, rushing over to it.
"Oh my god!" I shouted, touching It's surface.
I turned around and ran to the smiling Alex.
I slammed into him, causing him to take a few steps back.
I hugged him tightly and he hugged me back, letting soft chuckles flow from his lips.
I bounced up and down and squealed.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I shouted, jumping up and kissing his cheek.
I didn't even feel awkward about it.
"Happy birthday, Sarah." He said into my hair, as he burried his face in it.
We played with it for a bit and then packed it up,bringing it to the green room.
Just as i sat down, my phone buzzed.
I grabbed it from the pocket of The skirt.
I had a new message.
" Go on stage. xx VM "
I gulped and stood up, looking around at the distracted boys and girls.
Nick looked at me.
"What's wrong pip?" He asked, "You look pale."
I walked over to him and handed him my phone.
He had a curious look on his face.
"You better go on stage, then." He said.
"W-will you come with me? I don't know what this could mean or who is sending them." I explained.
"Sure." He said.
... He hadn't even asked for me to clarify that there had been more than one, and he didn't seem worried.
I slipped out the door with Nick following behind.
We made our way to the stage, but Nick stayed in back, remaining unseen.
I walked to the middle of The stage, and looked down at my phone , which had buzzed again.
" Look up. "
I looked up to see a male figure, making It's way down the center isle.
As it got closer, it hit me.
His brown hair was trimmed, but still came down past his ears. His blue eyes were immediately recognizable as they met mine.
His slim figure was so tall, and hed become so handsome, his jawline prominent.
VM.
It made sense now.
His famous cheeky smile appeared on his lips as he walked.
He was wearing a black sweater shirt, and black jeans and vans.
VM.
Van McCann.
He was my best friend from birth, but id lost contact with him when he moved away, just before high school had started.
I felt tears brim my eyes.
"It's good to see you, Sarah." He laughed, his voice shaking as if he were close to tears aswell.
I bent down, laying my phone on the stage before sprinting at him.
"Van!" I shouted, jumping into his arms.
He caught me and stumbled backwards as I wrapped my legs around his waist as if it were a reverse piggy back ride.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, burrying my face within it.
He was tall. Not too tall, but nice tall.
"Oh my god..." I cried, feeling the tears slip down my cheeks.
He set me down after a minute and backed up, still holding my arms.
We looked into eachothers eyes, with wide smiles.
"I missed you so much..." I murmured.
"I missed you, too." He said, pulling me into another hug and kissing the top of my head.
We parted again and I held his hands as I slightly turned, gazing back at Nick, who was laughing on stage.
"Were you behind this?!" I shouted at him.
"He was, yeah." Van said.
I turned and looked at Van and we walked back to the stage.
Van gave Nick a hug and Nick smiled at us.
"I ran into him the other day, and he called me out, asking if you were around. We spoke about your birthday and arranged this little surprise." Nick explained.
"Thank you." I said, hugging Nick.
I returned to Van, looking up at him and smiling.
"Wearing skirts now are we? Let me look at you." He said, holding my hands and holding me at arms length, looking over my outfit.
"You're more beautiful than I remember... How'd you do that?" He laughed.
"Me?! Look at you!" I said, motioning to him.
"Shut up." He laughed, bringing me under his arm again.
"Well, what's going on here?" Matt's voice rang out as he walked on stage with everyone behind him.
"Matt! Look! Van!" I practically shouted.
Matt eyed him up for a minute and then a look of know came over him.
"Oh, Van, mate, It's been a bloody long time!" He laughed.
"It has!" Van laughed back.
I introduced him to the rest of The boys and the girls.
When we got to Alex, he shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you, mate." Alex said, giving him a smile.
"Likewise! Your band is fucking cool." Van said to him.
"Cheers." He smiled back.
The boys went to do soundcheck and Jane and Christine pulled me away from Van, who was sitting in one of The chairs in the front, watching them.
"He's cute!" Jane said.
"A proper looker, that one!" Christine said.
"I know, he's certainly much more handsome. When we were younger he was pretty... But now... Now he's proper handsome!"
The giggled and we went back.
I sat next to Van and we caught up and talked all the way until the show started.

A/N;
Yay!!! Van McCann! I love that boy. That's a picture of him up there. That's what he'll look like in the story so yeah!
He's the front man for Catfish and The Bottlemen just incase anyone was wondering.
Usually I don't make cameos, but there will be a few here and there within this book.
