Chapter 13
I woke up the next morning feeling drousy.
Nick was missing from the bed, but Matt was still snoring away.
I sat up, rubbing my eyes.
Nick came back into the room suddenly, fully dressed.
He smiled at me. "Morning, pip."
"Morning, Nick." I yawned.
"Sleep well? I noticed that you'd gotten up last night." He commented, walking over to Matt's bed and shaking him awake.
"Wake up, mate." He turned his attention back to me.
"Yeah, I slept okay. I did lose a bit of it, and I'm sleepy, but its okay. Did you sleep well?" I asked.
He nodded. "I slept fine." He smiled before a sleepy Matt groaned.
"I don't want to get up!" He said, rolling over.
Nick looked at me and smiled. He held up a hand.
"We're gonna go get breakfast down at the food bar."
Matt shot straight up.
"GOOD MORNING WORLD, I'M ALIVE AND READY TO EAT." He said, eyes wide.
I began to laugh uncontrollably, and Nick even chuckled.
Matt let out a chuckle, and he got up, stretching and grabbing his clothing, heading into the bathroom.
I stood up, stretching, and sitting infront of my bag, getting my brush out.
I brushed through my hair, and then picked out my clothing of the day.
I grabbed dark blue jeans and an Arctic Monkeys shirt that the boys had made a while back.
It was black and said Arctic Monkeys on it in white font.
Matt was soon out and I entered the bathroom, fixing myself up for the day.
Bathroom, dressed, face wash, brush teeth and all done.
I walked out and slipped on my striped socks, and put on my black high top chucks.
I felt like an actual person, and not just a little girl anymore, even if I was treated like one.
I was only 17, yet I still felt 14 sometimes.
Nick and Matt looked at me.
"Ready to go?" They asked.
I nodded and we began our trek downstairs.
As we walked I asked Nick, "You're playing at the same venue again tonight, yeah?" I asked.
"Yeah." He responded.
"Jane is coming out, tonight!" He cheered.
I smiled. I had gotten used to her, though she bugged me sometimes.
When I first met her, apperantly she was a bit pissed up.
She's cleaned up quite a bit, and wasn't actually that bad of a person.
I felt bad for thinking horribly of her in our first encounter.
Who could blame me, though?
We finally went down to the breakfast bar, walking inside.
The curtains were open, and people were sprinkled around the room.
We spotted Alex and Jamie and made our way over to them.
"Ready to eat?" Matt asked with excitement.
They nodded and got up, so that we could go grab our trays and load them with whatever we wanted.
I reached one area where I was contemplating on what to get, when I felt warmth come from behind me.
"Nice shirt, but that band sucks." a deep voice rang from behind me. I shivered.
"Thanks, but the lead singer is the worst if you ask me, the band only sucks because of him." I said, turning and backing up a step from how close he was to me.
His eyebrows raised.
A smile tugged at his lips.
I started laughing and he did aswell, setting down his tray.
"You've been standing here forever." he said.
"I cant decide if I want waffles or pancakes." I frowned.
He smirked, "Why not both?" he asked.
I felt so stupid, I could just get both, duh!
I blushed.
"Y-You're right." I commented, placing both food Items on my plate.
"Always am." he said, beginning to walk away.
"Not always!" I said, chasing after him. He threw his head back and let out a laugh.
~~~
We had finished eating and made our way back up to the hotel rooms.
We had a few hours to kill.
All the boys wanted to lounge in Nick, Matt and I's room.
Matt sat back on his bed and Alex joined him, sitting on the other side. Nick and Jamie sat on the sofa and I sat on the bed, my legs crossed as I played with the aglets on my laces.
Nick's phone rang.
He answered it, " 'Ello?"
His face lit up. "Jane!" He cheered.
"How are you, love?" he asked.
To be honest, he hadn't spoken to her in a while, she had been out of town the week before he left, visiting family, and now we were on tour.
"Really?" he asked with excitement.
"That's wonderful!" he cheered.
"Alright, see you in an hour or two, then!" he said.
He hung up and looked over at us.
"Jane is almost here!" he said.
The boys cheered and smiled.
Jamie had a somewhat sad look on his face.
No one questioned him though.
Nick's phone rang again.
"Ello?" he said, this time in confusion.
A second passed and then he locked eyes with me.
"Yeah, alright." he said, holding the phone to his chest.
"It's mum." he whispered.
He tossed the phone to me, and I caught it, jumping up and jogging out onto the balcony.
"Hi, mum." I said, closing the door behind me.
"Hi, sweetie! How is it so far? Have the boys done well?" she asked.
"It's amazing, mum! I love this. I miss the house already, just a little bit. But being with Nick makes me feel not so scared or anxious. The boys have performed fantastically. They're gonna grow so big mum, I just know it!" I said.
"Oh, sweetie. Tell them how proud of them I am. I have to go, but I love you, and Nick, and all the boys." she said.
"I will, I love you too, mum. Bye!" I said, hanging up.
I turned around and jumped when I found the door open, and Alex standing, leaning against the frame.
"Gonna grow so big, huh? Well, I look forward to it." He smirked and walked away, going back to sit with Matt on the bed.
I gulped and put on a smile, walking back in.
"Mum said she is very proud and loves all of you." I said, tossing the phone back to Nick.
They all just smiled and nodded, turning their attention back to the television.
I sat back on the bed, not knowing what to do.
I started staring at the bruises on my wrists.
They were pretty visible.
I couldn't help but think of how bad I would have gotten it if Alex hadn't come to my aid.
Images of him dragging me outside flashed through my mind.
What if he had me in the Alley? What if I hadn't gotten away?
It made me sick to even think that that has happened to poor innocent girls before, but they didn't have someone to save them. They had to live knowing that those horrible things happened to them. They probably had trust issues, and could never get close to anyone. They probably felt ruined, because their whole life was wrecked just because one bloody slag couldn't keep it in his pants.
"Sarah?!" Nick was waving his hand on my face, and I looked up. All the boys were staring at me with concern.
"W-what?" I stuttered out.
Nick sighed in relief.
"You looked like you were ready to kill, and also be sick all in the same time. I said your name 'bout 5 times before you finally answered." he said.
"I'm sorry." I said to him. I felt bad, making him worry like that.
"Are you okay, Pip?" he asked.
Was I?
"I dunno..." I said.
"Excuse me," I said, getting up and walking into the bathroom.
I turned on the sink and splashed my face a few times.
I stared at myself in the mirror.
People in the world got beat ruthlessly.
Those people had no one to save them.
But why?
What for?
What is gained from harming an innocent?
I felt hot tears stain my cold cheeks.
The world could be so cruel sometimes.
Then I wiped those tears away, splashing my face once more.
I wasn't all that unlucky.
I was saved.
I was helped before anything too bad could happen to me.
I was grateful.
I looked at myself in the mirror, seeing the redness around my eyes, and the purple around my cheek.
I took a deep breath and walked out of the bathroom.
Nick was still in the same spot as before.
The boys looked over to me.
Alex looked at me and his head tilted to the side a bit, a serious look on his face.
Nick's eyes went wide.
"Sarah." Nick murmured as he got up, walking over to me and wrapping me up in his arms.
"What were you thinking about?" he asked.
"Last night." I whispered back, wrapping my arms around him tightly.
"You're safe now, pip. That will never get so far ever again." he whispered, swaying me back and forth.
I thought, this must be awkward for the other boys to see.
But my brother was just trying to comfort me, and I loved him for it.
"Thank you, Nick." I said.
"No worries, pip." he said, kissing my head.
We parted and I smiled, making my way back onto the bed, and watching television with the rest of them.
Matt and Jamie looked towards the television along with Nick, but out of the corner of my eye, I could see Alex's face, looking at me from behind Matt's figure.
