Chapter 10
We were half an hour away from the show, and the boys were warming up, Matt was outside, using his drum sticks, Jamie and Nick were in the other attached room, with their bass and guitar, warming up as well.
I sat in the room with Alex, and he began to make up the couch that he was sitting on.
He then laid down, resting his head on a pillow and hands on his stomach.
"What are you doing?" I ask out of curiosity.
"Nappin'." He yawned.
I turned my head to the side.
"I think I perform better if I've had a good half an hour nap before we perform." He said, closing his eyes and relaxing.
I knew that he couldn't see me as I nodded, so I also allowed a tiny, 'Mm.' To escape from my lips.
I sat there patiently, waiting the time to pass by.
Eventually the time came, and all the boys gathered back into the room as Alex woke up.
He shook his head and took a sip of the water that was sitting on the table.
"You're on boys." The manager announced, leaving the room.
I followed the excited, bouncy boys as they made their way to the side of the stage.
"Here we go..." Alex said.
I looked at Matt, and he looked at me, walking over and giving me a hug.
"Good luck! You're gonna do great!" I said in his ear.
He smiled at me and mumbled a quick thank you as he jogged on stage.
The crowd cheered and he sat at his kit.
I gave Jamie a hug next, and whispered a good luck to him before he jogged out.
Nick was next, and I gave him a kiss on the cheek and a hug.
His bright blue eyes beemed with excitement.
He held my hands for a moment before letting go and jogging out there, recieving a positive reaction from the crowd.
"Well, don't keep them waiting!" I said, hitting Alex in the arm.
He looked over at me and then pulled me into his arms.
He hugged me tightly.
"Blow them away, Turner." I whispered to him.
He let out a deep chuckle.
"I won't disappoint, O'Malley." He said before letting go, and jogging on stage.
I bit my lip in anticipation, ready to watch my favorite boys perform.
Through out the whole performance, I was enchanted by how each song sounded, though I had heard them be played so many times before.
The energy was different, in a good way.
This wasn't practice in Alex's garage, this wasn't a gig in a local pub.
This was the real thing, and they had a large audience.
After watching them perform in a way that I hadn't before, the concert was over.
I had four large, cold bottles of water ready for each boy when they came off, I made sure of that.
The sweaty boys came my way and i clapped at them while I smiled.
They cheered and bounced and I tossed them each a bottle of water, each of the boys downing the bottles in a matter of a minute.
Matt was first to finish, he was also breathing the hardest.
Alex finished his second, wiping his mouth.
Jamie finished his bottle after, tossing it in the bin near by.
Nick finished his off, coming over to me and giving me a hug.
"Get off me you sweaty gross mess!" I laughed, shoving him off me.
He laughed, and all of the boys were so happy.
They seemed to be on planet nine with excitement radiating off of their sweaty bodies.
"Celebrate at a bar?" One of the Roadies suggested as we walked back to the dressing room, so that they could all change into the clothing that they brought with them.
"Sounds good!" All the lads replied.
The idea of going into a bar was a tad scarey.
I had been in a few before but i wasn't 100% legal yet, my birthday was soon though.
I played with my hands as the boys chatted and changed, talking about random moments of the show that they enjoyed, and complimented each other on their performance.
I was sitting on the couch, looking down.
Suddenly, Al sat next to me, a fresh white v neck on, and new black trousers.
He sat a leather jacket ontop of the table infront of us, and extended his arm along the back of the couch.
"Y'alright? You don't look too thrilled, like." He said.
I look up and nod. "No, I'm fine!" I said quickly.
"Mm... I don't think so." He murmured, slurring as he naturally did sometimes.
"Is it cause we're going to a bar?" He asked.
I exhaled and nodded.
"I know it might not be too fun for yer, but just stick with us, and we'll keep you company, yeah?" He said.
I nodded, giving him a small smile, which was really all that i could muster.
He swiftly put a hand on the other side of my head, pushing it towards him as he placed a kiss on top of it.
When he went back he stood up, beginning to walk out of the room.
As he walked, I let my eyes drop to his bum.
When he was gone, I let out a small giggle, I felt childish for a moment.
"Ready to go, pip?" Nick came up behind me, putting his hands on my shoulders.
I nodded, looking up at him.
He pat my cheek.
"Let's go then!" He said.
He, Jamie, and Matt left the room.
I stood up, dusting off my pants.
I looked around the space one last time as I grabbed Alex's leather jacket off the table.
As I looked around, I noticed a phone, laying by the edge of the couch that I was sitting on.
I quickly picked it up, I recognized it as Alex's.
Does this boy forget everything?
I laughed.
I walked out of the room, taking one last gander at the room.
I left and made my way outside, where the boys were piling in the car.
I stepped out the venue door, and suddenly Alex started jogging towards me.
He almost made it past me but I grabbed his arm.
He turned around swiftly to look at me, and then his gaze fell to the leather jacket in my arms, which belonged to him.
He gave me a smile, "Cheers, love."
He took it, slipping it on.
We began to walk back to the car.
As we climbed in, Alex went back to his spot next to Jamie.
As he sat down, I sat forward, throwing my hand over his shoulder, and pressing his phone to his chest.
He looked down at it before making the connection.
"Oh!" He said aloud, grabbing it.
I retracted my hand and laughed.
"You're a bloody life saver." He said, slipping it into his pocket.
"No problem." I commented, leaning my head back as i looked out the window.
A bar, huh?
This should be interesting.
