Buri

While another study attempts to look into the culture of Buri, this document will only detail basic physical features. Pictured above is a Buri, a colorized photo taken in 1913 before "Banban Buri" were bred.

- General Description -
A Buri is typically similar to a "shiny" Umbreon, save for some differences. Their fur is significantly darker than normal shiny Umbreons, and they are significantly larger (where normal Umbreons may range from 2-3 feet at the shoulder, a Buri is usually 4-10 feet at the shoulder). However, since this is not the defining factor of a Buri (to be a Buri, the creature must be able to form a "neural connection" with any and all nearby Buri), there are very, very rare cases of Buri who are not shiny Umbreon. However, if Buri are born in "Buramso" (the central location where Buri live), and are not shiny Eevees, they are frequently either exiled so far away that they could not ever hope to learn they were Buri later in life, or they are killed (this is a presumption, but the extraordinarily high mortality rate of non-shiny Buri children by "accidents" is inexplicable).

In the case of "Banban Buri," these Umbreons tend to be on the higher end of the size range (8-10 feet at the shoulder), drooping ears (like a lop rabbit), and rings which glow far less brightly than other Buri. Their fur also has a mildly dappled appearance. However, Banban Buri are also much, much stronger than other Buri.

- Disposition -
Buri tend to have a puppyish cheerfulness when on their own, but in groups tribalism becomes much stronger. Buri have been shown to be extremely impulsive.

Banban Buri are much calmer and "mellower" than regular Buri, and are significantly less impulsive.

- Special Abilities -
The full range of capabilities of Buri are unknown and those that are may not be shared here.

- Diet -
A Buri can and will eat any available organic matter (preferably meat, but they are omnivorous). A Buri will instinctively try to eat anything brushed against its nose (Banban Buri, however, can resist this instinct). Buri usually try to eat their weight in meat each day, however there seems to be no upper limit to how much a Buri can eat.

- Reproduction -
Buri do not reproduce with other Buri, as it is considered shameful. They usually mate with other creatures, and they have a significant amount of control over the genetic makeup of the child (compared to other species, which have none), both male and female.

The bodies of Buri which reproduce to form other Buri do not age until their Buri child is dead. If the Buri child has their own Buri child, and so on, it is effectively immortality.

- Location in the wild -
Buri primarily reside in the Black Forest of Germany, but they can possibly be found in forests all throughout the world.

If ever you come across a Buri, it means the Buri has taken interest in you. If this interest is due to predatory purposes, if you are good at endurance, try to run. Regular Buri have thick fur that makes them far poorer at endurance running than humans, and you can probably tire the Buri out (this is a risk however, because you might anger the Buri instead). If you are not a good endurance runner, the Buri is a Banban Buri, or the Buri strikes up a conversation instead, try to participate in the conversation as best you can. The Buri will usually warm up to you if you are kind. If the Buri licks your face, then lays upon you, do not panic. This is a Buri sign of trust and good will, and good things happen in the lives of those who allow Buri to sleep on them.
