【TOMMASO CIAMPA's POINT OF VIEW 】
"Hey." Johnny frowned as he put his bag down on the floor.
"We need to talk, Tommaso." He looked up and I was instantly taken back from the frightened expression on his face.
I froze, not knowing what to do. Johnny tends to have this expression, something mixed with rage and seriousness. I supposed it had to do with Candice since he only reacts like this with his precious childhood friend. And the fact that I was afraid of something he'll say whenever Candice is involved.
"Stop making that weird face." He grumbled and almost kicked myself.
"I'm sorry," I said as my face slowly morphed back to my typical blank expression. I stared at him and he's now relaxed. If only slightly.
I wonder what Johnny would like to talk about. He cleared his throat and straightened in his seat. Imagine, we're at the basketball court near our house.
Johnny called me that he wanted to talk about something important. At this kind of hour? I glanced at my wristwatch and it's now quarter to nine. I glanced up at the full moon in the sky, shining brightly like a diamond.
"We need to ta-"
"I'm sorry Johnny," I said and put my canned juice on my side, staring at his eyes.
"Wha---" Johnny started but was cut off when I spoke once again, "I am afraid that I'm not of the right...posture to help you," I admitted. He blinked.
"Perhaps I should call Candice. I think she would be more suited. But at least, I can drive the car. I got my license last month."
Johnny blinked two more times.
"The fuck are you talking about?" Johnny finally asked, muttering that I'm a weirdo.
I blinked slowly, "My bad, I guessed I assumed wrong."
"You assumed what wrong?" He asked furrowed eyebrows and glares on my face.
I took a sip of my canned juice before I speak, "You looked like you wanted to confess to something terrible. I was a little concerned because I thought it was something illegal and you'd need help with disposing of evidence."
Johnny gaped at me for a moment.
"You thought I killed a person?!" Johnny sputtered. I just shrugged and finished my canned juice by drinking it straight.
"It was hard not to. You should have seen your face." I pointed out.
Johnny snarled his cheeks coloring.
"Asshole." He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the back of the seat.
I sighed and put the canned juice away.
"I was joking...partially. What is it?" I asked,
Johnny didn't want to give me the satisfaction and sulk for a bit, but I'm Tommaso Ciampa, always had infinite patience and could always pull whatever I wanted from him. We've been friends for years that I can actually read Johnny like an open book. And this was no different.
"Look." He sighed and stood up. "I want to tell you something and it's not going to be nice. You might even hate me for it."
I waited patiently and asked, "What is it?"
Johnny inhaled and exhaled.
"I'm...I realized my romantic feelings with Candice lately, and I know you'll hate me for this because you might be feeling betrayed. I just wanted to let you know before you find out and act like Roderick Strong. I don't want our friendship to turn like them."
Johnny glanced his head to look at the moon and giving me a moment to process what he just confessed. Now, I don't really know what to say.
"Hey. Do you-" Johnny turned his head towards me and stopped when he saw me.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" I just couldn't stop myself from laughing as I put my hand supporting my stomach. It hurts from laughing.
"Wh- why are you laughing?!" Johnny asked in disbelief and I didn't manage to hold back the giggle which escaped my mouth.
"I'm sorry, I just..." I said and hiccuped still laughing and covered my mouth again.
"I apologize..." I sighed, scratching my head, "I just thought it was something...more pressing. You looked really serious, so I thought something really bad happened."
"It did happen!" Johnny bristled. "Don't laugh asshole. I'm telling you my secret here."
Suddenly I stopped laughing and cocked my head.
"Secret?"
"Yeah? Secret. That thing you keep to yourself and don't tell anyone, because it's something that no one can know about, or else it will mess shit up."
Now, he's confusing me.
"Johnny." I started and looked him straight in the eye. "I hate to break it to you." I paused for a moment. "But everyone. And I mean everyone, knows."
And there's Johnny my boy, froze at his spot. After he regained his posture, he asked. "What?"
"They're probably known for years," I said simply. "I bet Candice had a clue as well."
"No," Johnny said and shook his head.
"Yes." I reached for another canned juice I bought.
"No." Johnny denied vehemently.
"Yes," I repeated and open its lit.
Johnny balled his fists and I chugged another juice as I felt Johnny's intense glare at me.
"Okay, so maybe you knew." Johnny finally said and after a pause crossed his arms over his chest again. "But not everyone else."
I sighed as I muttered, "Pete Dunne, the British man of few words guy isn't counted."
Johnny sputtered, "You're making shit up to just fuck with me."
I shook my head again. I looked exasperated as if I was talking to a particularly slow child. Just how stubborn, Johnny Gargano is.
I reached into my pocket for a phone and dialed a number.
"Who are you calling?"
"Candice."
He immediately snatches the phone out of my hold and turns it off. The nerve!
"Johnny!" I started when he give me back my phone.
"Spare me," Johnny grumbled and then ran a hand through his face. He was tired.
I didn't say anything and patiently waited for Johnny to say something, but what could he even say?
"Johnny, it's not a big deal," I muttered and smiles at him. He peeked at me through his fingers.
"I don't hate you and I don't think I can. Besides, you've been with Candice for a long time so I'm not really surprised when you fell for her. Everyone would fell for Candice LeRae. She's just that amazing." I said, patting him in the shoulder.
Johnny blinked at me as he shifted in his seat uncomfortably.
"But." I continue, face blank but a glint of mischief in my eye. "I suppose your mixed signals could have thrown me off a bit," I admitted. "It hurt."
Johnny was there trying to read what's on my mind. He's thinking so hard again.
My lip curled slightly and there I notice how Johnny felt relief mixed with annoyance.
"I regret that I told you anything." Johnny snarled as he bends down to get his bad on the ground.
I followed him as Johnny shot me a dirty glare when we left the basketball court.
I smirked all knowingly at him but didn't comment.
"At least your conscience is feeling better now," I said finally when we reached my house and Johnny clucked his tongue at me.
Childish.
"Shut up asshole," Johnny grumbled and I shook my head lightly opening the house gate.
