Chapter 10: Emotional Ending.

"Guys! You okay?" Meg engulfed you in a hug, relief flooding from her actions.

"We're fine. Look what Benedict-"

"Look what we found." He corrected you dryly and held up the key.

"Yeah yeah. We can escape now!" You said happily.

"Did you do the other generator?" Benedict asked firmly, his tone professional.

"Yes." Jake answered simply.

"All we need to do now is find the Hatch." You explained seriously and folded your arms.

"The Hatch?" Dwight repeated curiously as you sat on a thrown down pallet.

"Benedict can you explain? I'm too tired." You groaned, holding your side because of stitches.

"You take a break." He agreed warmly.

"Now the Hatch is an opening on the floor. I'm aware it's quite small and very hard to spot. But if you do find it we can all escape through it. It'll most likely put us on the other side of that exit gate." He explained importantly and Nea grinned.

"Well what are we waiting for then? Let's dip." She gave a cheeky thumbs up.

"Are we going as a team or splitting up?" Jake questioned, moving his bedraggled hair away from his face.

"Team. Splitting up is too dangerous now." Meg stated sternly as you nodded.

"Your friend is right." Benedict agreed casually.

"So let's get moving." Dwight remarked nervously and the group started walking.

"Do you know where the Nurse is?" Nea asked you, pulling her beanie down lower over her head.

"No, I said something to her and she stopped chasing us." You replied gently, thinking back to that moment.

"I wonder if it was what you said that made her stop." Benedict came into the conversation casually.

"What I...said?" You quoted confused and he nodded.

"What did you say (Y/n)?" Meg mused as you kept a look out.

"I asked her what Andrew would think...about her killing people." You said softly.

"Why would that make her stop?" Jake frowned, not really paying attention - mostly looking around.

"I think it's because (Y/n)'s words made Sally come back to humanity for a second." Benedict responded honestly.

"You think so?" You turned to face him, slightly surprised.

"I do think so." He assured you.

"Well what do you know." You muttered and then something shiny caught your eye.

"Hey guys, is that what I think it is?" You pointed towards a flat silvery panel on the ground.

"That's it. Come on everyone, gather around." Benedict spoke kindly as he held the rusted key in his hand.

"Let's get out of here, and forget this ordeal never happened." Dwight sighed faintly.

"No!" Sally teleported on the hatch before Benedict could open it and slashed Jake harshly.

He yelled out in pain and backed away.

"You're all going to be sacrificed, you're all going to die!" She babbled crazily, trying to hit Benedict next.

"Even (Y/n)?" Benedict retorted sharply, trying to stall her.

"My little doll denied my love...she'll die along with the rest of you filthy creatures!" Sally stormed furiously as she turned to hit you.

"What was it like when Andrew died?" You asked her, terrified, and gasped in pain when she hit you.

"Shut up!" She hissed frustratedly.

"What did you feel? What do you think we feel?" You cried dramatically, blood dripping from your shoulder.

"I don't care how you feel, you must be cleaned, you must be sacrificed!" Sally replied as she hit Dwight next.

"Lead her away from the Hatch, we're all just sitting targets!" Benedict exclaimed, holding his side.

"Andrew loved you Sally, so do you really think he's proud of what you're doing?" You shouted bitterly and took big hits away from the Hatch.

"It doesn't matter what he wants, it's my duty!" She ranted passionately, growing angrier by the minute.

"Dude I don't think you're calming her down!" Nea called over to you worriedly as you kobe-d Sally's attack.

"Your duty is to what? To watch people suffer? Like Andrew did?" You kept on going ruthlessly.

"Stop it...Stop it." Sally growled, swinging wildly - not even seeing where she was aiming.

"You're breaking his heart!" You snapped harshly and she froze.

"B-Breaking his...heart..." She whispered, stunned as she dropped her bone-saw.

"C'mon (Y/n)! Benedict's opened the Hatch, we can leave!" Meg piped up timidly.

"What am I...doing...?" Sally asked herself in bemusement, looking at her hands.

"You guys...go on ahead." You told them quietly and they nodded; with Benedict helping Nea go down first.

"Where am I?" Sally inquired, her voice just above a whisper.

"You're at Crotus Prenn Asylum. You killed all of your patients and you try to kill whoever comes here, including me and my friends." You explained tiredly.

"I remember...chasing you." She responded, rubbing her ghostly arm.

"Why are you not trying to kill me now?" You wondered in confusion and she gave a sad smile.

"I've been under the Entity's spell for a long time. And in a few moments I shall want to kill you once more." Sally answered heartbrokenly.

"I'm sorry. About your past and you loneliness." You said sympathetically as you tried to wipe your sticky blood off your fingers.

"You're such a sweet girl." She complimented tenderly, reaching up and caressing your face.

You tensed up and her smile faltered.

"I am sorry. For hurting you and killing you friend. I know it's unforgivable." Sally apologised, sighing.

"You were under a spell, it's not your fault." You decided delicately.

"Bless your angelic mind, child." She appreciated your empathy, feeling a little bit of happiness - just like her past life.

"How did you come under the Entity's power anyway?" You asked.

"I hated this damn Asylum. The Entity feeds off pain and misery, and it saw me doing the same horrible job day-in day-out. It began to feed off my negative energy and leech the soul out of me. Soon I began to feel undeniable rage and pure evil intentions." Sally talked rapidly, the glum look never leaving her eyes.

"I'm...so sorry." You felt bad for her.

"Why don't you come with us?" You gestured to the Hatch pleasantly but she sighed again.

"I wish I could, but the Entity's control over me is too strong. So you see, I can never leave." She gently shook her head.

"Now in a few minutes, I'll revert back to the murderous nurse you once dealt with. So get out, before I switch back." Sally floated back a couple of metres away, a longing desire in her eyes.

"But~"

"Shh. I still love you though, my little doll." She leaned towards you and kissed you sweetly.

"Sally, I~"

"Now go. Please." Sally interrupted you again and with one last tearful look at her, you jumped into the Hatch.

Leaving the Crotus Prenn Asylum - and in turn Sally Smithson - behind.
