Ayato's P.O.V

As I returned home I went into Chiyo's room to see her asleep with a peaceful smile on her face. I smiled, I guess Lucy really got her to sleep. Speaking of which where was she? I didn't see her downstairs. My eyes widened before I rushed into my room.

"Lucy" I didn't hear a response so I looked around and found her sleeping on my couch and closed the door. As I started at her a bright flash caught my eye. I looked in its direction and noticed that it had been Lucy's wedding ring. I felt my face heat up. I guess she never stopped wearing it. "Idiot" I shook her awake. She woke up and looked at me with a blush.

"Ayato" She had a small smile on her face. I then took notice of the half empty bottle. I sighed.

"Sleep in my bed" She nodded before she stood up. "One more thing." She yawned and nodded.

"Yes, Ayato?"

"I want to know why you kept on your wedding ring even though you hated me." Her cheeks reddened before she looked at me.

"I kept it on because I felt a connection to you. Every time I wore it I knew you were alive and well, and at times when it felt like a heart that beat, I knew you were happy." My face reddened again.

"You actually cared for me? Even after what happened?"

"How could I not? We had a daughter together for a reason." She said as she sat on the couch. I sat next to her.

"I forced you to have her."

"I had her because I knew she would change you. Not because you forced me. I never hated you, even when I said I did, I couldn't."

"Do you dislike me?" She looked at me.

"I can't" She leaned on my shoulder. "Ayato-sama"

"Lucy" I looked on my shoulder to see her asleep. I smiled at the woman who dozed back to sleep. I fell in love with her for a reason. Not for her looks, but for who she was. I pulled her closer to me. "Goodnight Lucy"
