"How did you do that?" Numi asked Marie.

"Do what?" Marie asked.

"You made magic ice!" Numi said.

"Oh, right..." Marie said, mentally slapping herself.

"We all can do magic." Callie said simply.

Numi got starry eyes again. "Ooh ooh! Let me see!"

Callie smiled, and summoned a fireball.

"I have fire powers." She said, juggling the fireball.

"Ooh......" Numi said, mesmerized.

Rukhar grew a little flower from he end of the pencil Numi tripped over. "I have nature power." He said.

"That's a pretty flower." Numi said.

Marie applied the ice she was holding to Numi's knee. "I have ice magic." She said.

Numi shivered from the ice. "Chilly..."

Agent 3 sprayed water at Jay when he tried to escape. "I have water powers."

"Not in the room Agent 3!" Callie said. Numi was still impressed.

Jay finally escaped.

"Agent 4 is around somewhere too." Callie said. Numi's eyes lit up. "Pumi!" She said happily.

Callie looked almost heartbroken, and told Numi "No, he is not Pumi."

Numi teared up again, but this time Marie came to the comforter job.

"You wanted a muffin, right?" She asked.

Numi went from sad to delighted in the blink of an eye. "Yes! I love muffins!" She said.

"One mini muffin it is." Marie said, giving her a chocolate mini muffin. Numi dug into it, thrilled.

One montage of eating a muffin later.

"Can everyone use magic?" Numi asked.

"I mean, I guess." Marie said. "But it's kinda hard."

"I wanna make fireballs like Callie!" Numi said excitedly.

"Heh." Said Callie.

"The first magic you'll be able to use isn't something you can pick." Rukhar explained. "You might have fire, or air, or metal, or lightning, or darkness, who knows."

"Teach me!" Numi insisted.

"We have to ask Axel to teach you." Said Callie.

"Aw..." Numi said.

"But first, we need to make sure you're ok." Callie said.

"But I am ok!" Said Numi, running around to prove her point.

"Ok ok. Maybe later." Rukhar said.

"Well, if you want to know magic, we have to find Axel." Callie said.

"Then let's go!" Numi said excitedly.

Axel dropped through the ceiling.

"Y'all called?" He asked.

"How did..." Rukhar said.

"Why did..." Marie stuttered, just as confused.

Numi got a look at his face then. Axel had to make a sound barrier to contain the horribly shrill noises she started making.

"Oh right..." He said. "The baby hasn't seen me yet."

Numi didn't even stop screaming to insist she wasn't a baby. Axel exuded pain and fear, and looked like death. Also the jump scare hardly helped.

Axel quickly used an illusion to portray a more normal appearance, but the damage was done.

Callie and Rukhar tried fruitlessly to calm Numi down for several minutes to no avail, before Axel deployed a fog of calm into the room. The sweet scented air made everyone feel better, and more relaxed.

Numi's hearts were still racing of course, but she was no longer having a full on panic attack. Just a partial one.

Axel decided on the logical route of not talking for once. Instead, Marie started, as the most level headed one.

"So uh..." She said. "This is Axel..."

Numi was obviously scared, but Axel's illusion and the calming fog soothed her. However, speaking to him was far too far fetched.

"He's the one who helps people learn to use magic." Callie took up.

Numi's interest was peaked, and beat out her fear.

"Ooh! Can I use magic please?" She squeaked.

Axel put on a visor, and sized her up, as if looking for something.

"Hmm..." He said after a while. "It appears you have no trace of magic, however small, in your world."

"But I do!" Numi said. "That's how birds fly! And how microwaves work!"

"Remind me to give you a science and engineering book later. For now, that means it's harder for you to use magic." Axel said.

"So I can't?" She pouted."

"I never said that. I invented a method a long time ago for people like you." Axel said. "It just takes longer. Have a seat."

Numi sat down obediently.

"Now. Close your eyes, and cover your ears. You don't want to hear this." Axel said.

Hesitantly, Numi did as asked.

Everyone else looked in curiosity.

Axel grew a short spike of... Something... From his hand, and plunged it into his chest.

Callie gasped, and Marie turned away.

After a moment, Axel ripped a small, grey, sphere shaped object out of the hole. The hole quickly closed.

"You can open your eyes now." He told Numi telepathically.

She opened her eyes and looked around in shock. "Who said that!" She asked.

"Twas me." Axel said. "Now, uh... I hate to emulate Anime, but..." He extended the object.

"Eat this." He said, with an intense expression.

"What is it?" Numi asked.

"Uh... Magic." Axel said. Telling the small child it was the soul of someone he ate would be a bad course of action.

Numi quickly ate the soul, and made a sour face. "Yuck!" She said.

Axel was watching her soul. It went from a tiny wisp to a fully formed magic soul in a couple minutes.

"Alright. You can use the magic now. Now I just gotta show you how." Axel said.

He went through the same speech he gave to the other Inklings when they arrived, a few months ago. Numi ate up every word. Then came the last step.

Numi was focusing, trying to get something to happen. She didn't feel anything, but everyone else did. They also saw it.

"Uhh... Is that normal?" Callie asked.

"I'd take it her light weight is why that's happening." Axel said.

Numi opened her eyes and looked around. She didn't notice anything, until she realized the table was a foot under her. Her concentration broke, and she fell back onto the table.

"Owie..." She said. "What happened?"

"Air. Just what we need." Axel said. "A speed demon with the air element..."

"What's wrong with that?" Rukhar asked.

"Each element and class has perks." Axel said. "For example, Callie is heat resistant and hits harder for fire. Marie is cold resistant and can't be slowed for ice. Numi... Moves faster and jumps higher for air." Axel said. "And I checked her stats. Her base speed is almost as high as mine, and I have bionic legs, airpower, gravity magic, jet thrusters, and a high fitness score."

"Wow. And you're like, the strongest?" Marie asked. "So Numi is the fastest living thing alive now?"

"No." Said Axel. "Reyer is over 10 times as fast as me, but he can't teleport. I'm not the best in many categories, but a jack of all trades is better than a master of one."

"Hmm." Rukhar said.

"Anyways I'll be off." Axel said. "I'd take her in for an exam, or something." He said. "Also, find her a weapon. Nothing crazy though, I can't make tiny weapons that work well."

He disappeared.

"Where did he go?" Numi asked.

"He probably teleported." Rukhar said. "Not that I can be sure about him."

"Well, we should take his advice. Come on, let's get you looked at in the med lab." Callie said.

"What's a med lab?" Numi asked.

"Kinda like a hospital." Callie said.

Numi hid behind the muffin basket. "No needles?" She asked.

"Aww... No needles." Rukhar affirmed.

"Ok..." Numi said, coming from behind the basket. The group left for the med lab, while agent 3 and Marie went off to do their own things. And kick Jay in the balls, because he was waiting outside to scare Numi.

"Damn Marie... Again?" He rasped.

"Of course." Marie said. "It's kinda funny."
