Chapter 3: This Girl
ASHTON
"Sir, you have been assigned to room 35 B. Is there anything else you need?"
The receptionist asked and I nodded. I was busy putting my credit card in the wallet, my mind consumed in planning my entire day. As I strolled towards the lift, my sight landed on the golden colored room key, lying on the floor, light illuminating from it. I grabbed the key, wondering if I dropped mine but the room number was different. I gazed upwards, scanning the entire reception area; a girl in the elevator, standing just a few inches away from me, caught my attention. A huge hat covering half of her face, preventing me from making out what she looked like. All I could see was her yellow dress, an iPhone and those...toned legs. Waoh!
"Hey, you dropped your-" Before I could step a foot inside, the elevator door shut in front of me.
Damn it.

The door slid open and I began searching all the rooms to match with the number on the key.
40 B where are you?
Lost in searching for the room, I bumped into someone. I was literally able to feel the vibration in her body I caused due to the loud thud. Standing in front of me, the same girl in the summery yellow dress, but this time, she didn't have her hat on. It made me deliriously happy because this exact moment my eyes glanced at her gorgeous face.
Why would she cover that pretty pretty face?
She sat on the floor and gathered all her things which she dropped. I kept analyzing her beauty like she was some goddess. Smiling like an idiot, I glanced at her dirty blonde hair and a smirk formed on my face. I know the face I was making- my typical 'dammit, she's hot' face.
I enjoyed the sight of her bending down on the floor, the dress hugging her like herbsecond skin. I kept checking her out until an icy cold voice sharply broke the moment.
A shock ran through me, leaving me paralyzed on the spot.
"Watch where you are going, stupid jerk. Are you blind or what?"
Damn, who pissed her off?
She glanced at me and I smiled even broadly as I was nothing but surprised. An innocent face with a sour taste to it?
I was astounded, but then again, the smile never left my face as I knew this girl was going to be the opposite of all the girls I have ever met.
I can't believe I am assuming things..
Her expressions were troubled and I could tell that she was embarrassed.
When I realized I was embarrassing myself as well, I bent down on the floor and helped her gather her things. My eyes gazed over her diary and the scribbling on it made me smile again.
Recipe of pancakes? Everyone knows how to make pancakes...
"Hi, my name is Ashton. I am sorry for being a jerk if that is what you call someone who was doing you a favor by returning you your room keys which you dropped outside the elevator." I whispered in a husky tone, trying to have an effect on her; usually, my broad smile worked on other girls but it had an opposite effect on this beautiful face.
She glanced at me again, her lips spread in a straight line while her eyes locked with mine. I couldn't read her but the the color of her eyes was blue; the kind of blue in which I wanted to get lost. It was as if I wanted to jump into that deep blue and ravishing ocean. A pink tint appeared on her puffy cheeks. By the sight of her, it was obvious I was going to be obsessed with this girl for a long time.
"Thank you."
It was all she said. Thank you?
Her voice so melodious but in a harsh way. With that, she rolled her eyes and walked away. I was confused because she was mean, but I did not judge her for a split second. I knew she was probably going through something which I wasn't aware of. A bad day, maybe? I was curious about that gorgeous beauty who was walking away from me.
With the rush inside my body, I ran after her but she was already in her room; she turned to look at me while her hand was holding the door, it was slightly opened.
"Can I at least know your name?" I asked her.
I could tell that she was trying hard not to smile and when I glanced at her, I realized that she was going to make me crave for her sight.
She snapped at me and said,
"Never."
Rude...okay, she is hot and mean. What is next?
With that, she shut the door on me. I was standing there, still smiling like an idiot.
Oh, Ashton Anderson, you are in great trouble.
I nodded my head and left for my room. I heard a vibration in my pocket and reached for my phone. I was nervous because it was from the hospital.
I picked up the phone.
"Can I speak to Ashton Anderson?"
I choked and gathered the courage to speak,
"Yes. This is him speaking."
The doctor spoke to me calmly and asked me to visit my mother who was in the hospital.
She was terribly sick.
She had cancer.
