Sticky Situations

They all ducked and Donna suddenly had an idea. "Doctor," she addressed the younger one. "Yes Donna?"

"Your pockets, they're bigger on the inside, right? Well, empty your pockets! Both of you! One of you has got to have something useful!"

The Twelfth Doctor frowned and said, "What about you?"

"No worries!" Clara sang, "We'll fend it off!" She ran towards the beast and shouted, "Hey, you berk! Look at me! That's right! I look good, don't I?" Donna followed her and inquired, "How exactly are you going to keep it away?" Clara clapped her hands excitedly and pulled an avocado from the pocket of her dress. Donna raised an eyebrow. "An avocado. What's that going to do? Why have you got an avocado with you anyways?" Clara smiled. "Got lost last time I tried the vending machine, so I carry my own snacks now. Go get the Doctor's sonic! I think there's a setting that'll blow things up. That's right!" She added to the monster as Donna hurried off, "I'm gonna blow up an avocado in your face! Ha!"

The Doctor hardly noticed when a tentacle swung so close to him it knocked his fez off. He was on his knees, sobbing Clara's name at the spot where she had disappeared only seconds ago. Rose had only to see his face to realize something had happened. She noticed that Clara was missing and understood. "Here," she thrust the long piece of metal into his hands. "Don't get yourself killed, I'm going to find the others. They might have something to get her out."

That brought him to his senses. "No," he said, standing up. "You'll get lost. You stay right here and mark the spot; I'll go get my harness and rope." He was back in mere seconds, with Martha as well, in case Clara was hurt. He secured the harness around his middle, with the rope trailing behind him, attached to the TARDIS. He whipped out his sonic, had the others step back, and pointed the device at the cloud they stood on. When it was no longer solid, he stepped forward, falling straight down into the darkness.

Amy whipped her cutlass through the air, decapitating yet another saber toothed pirate dolphin. She heard a cry of distress and looked over to see Rose in a predicament. "Oi, scumbag!" She yelled at the creature who had bitten Rose and eaten her cutlass as well, "Over here!" He swam over to her in a fit, and she slashed at his head. He roared and charged. She swung her cutlass back-handedly, and, without meaning to, sliced through the cord that bound the eye patch around his head. The monster screamed and fell through the cloud. All the others screamed as well; half dolphin squeal and half tiger roar. They all began thrashing, and Amy yelled, "Rory! Cut off as many eyepatches as you can!"

The more patches were cut, the more the animals thrashed, and the more of them fell through the clouds. The Doctors began using their screwdrivers as well, to sever the cords. Eventually every monster was gone. But at that moment they realized how serious the bite Rose had received was. Her arm had swollen terribly and the pain was so horrible that she was sobbing like a little child. The Tenth Doctor took one look at her and gathered her up his arms. The other Doctor frowned and said, "We've got to get her to Martha. Quick."
