It's not easy for me to talk about a half life in lost dreams
And not simple , it's trigonometry
It's hard to express,
I can't explain

You lay under a tree shivering with the cold wind.
Your clothes were already dry but you felt so cold. It was silly of you to jump into the water.
Your eyes occasionally scanned the dark surroundings, afraid that you would see a titan in the corner of your eye. It was your first expedition without meeting up with Eren and you felt vulnerable. He always protected you and made you feel safe and loved.
Your eyes travelled to Levi who was sitting under a tree that was a few feet from you.
You shouldn't be scare. Levi had the title of humanity's strongest soldier. He would protect you if a titan shows up.
That thought calmed your fears and you began to doze off to sleep with the sound of wind and your teeth chattering.
"y/n." Your eyes quickly opened at the sound of Captain Levi calling your name.
"Yes Captain?" You replied sitting up. Your eyes scanned your surroundings. It was still night, it was still cold, and there was no sign of any titan.
Levi got up and sat next to you.
"I could hear your teeth chattering all the way to where I was at." He placed an arm around you and you quickly pressed your head against his chest and wrapped your arms around his waist in an attempt to keep yourself warm.
"I'm sorry Captain. I'm so cold." Your teeth continued chattering.
"You shouldn't have jumped in the water, brat."
"Sorry Captain. It won't happened again."
"It better not. I'm not known for patience."
There was an awkward silence, but you tried to focus on the positive side. His body felt warm and you didn't feel cold anymore.
"Are you mad at me?" It was bold of you to ask such question to him, but his silence was killing you.
"No." Was all he could say. His eyes were looking up at the sky. Waiting for any smoke signals from the other comrades who were miles away.
Your silence was tense, and he was not used to seeing you this way. This quiet.
In headquarters, during training, and even during expeditions outside the walls, you were always talking with someone....of course Eren was always next to you.
"Well if you want to talk about it, we'll talk."
"Remember last night that you saw me in the halls past bed time?" You began as you felt a knot form on your throat remembering the sour events. You were glad that he couldn't see your face.
He nodded and waited for you to continue.
"Well something happened...."
"What happened?" He was intrigued with the conversation and your pause was making him grow impatient. He grabbed your arms, pulling you away from him, as an attempt to see your face. "What happened, y/n?"
You looked away trying to hold back your tears. "Eren broke up with me." It was almost embarrassing to be telling this to Captain Levi. Especially because the most you've interacted with him was three times, and they were all just a few exchange of words.
Levi noticed a few tears escaping your eyes, and felt bad that you were going through that. Maybe if he had actually stopped you in the hall, you wouldn't have met with Eren and your heart wouldn't be broken. He could tell that you loved Eren.
He put his arm around you and pulled you closer to him. Your head rested on his shoulder as his fingers ran through your hair as an attempt to comfort you.
"How about you, Captain?" You attempted to continue the conversation. "Ever had your heart broken?"
Levi thought about the day his mother died and how his uncle Kenny abandoned him along with all the deaths of the people he cared about. "Let's not talk about my past. It's not a good topic."
"Understood." You quickly replied. Wanting to upset him was not in your plans.
His fingers continued to stroke your hair causing you to get goosebumps.
"I am intrigued to learn more about you. Tell me more about yourself."
"Um...." This was the longest conversation you've had with him. "What would you like to know, Captain?"
"Tell me about your parents."
"They're nice."
"They must be to raise such a wonderful daughter like you."
"Oh....and yours?" Your face was red at this point so you stared down at your own hands.
"It was just my mother. She raised me and thought me everything." He replied. His fingers not leaving your hair and his eyes on the sky, still scanning for any smoke signals from the cadets.
"What is everything?" Your hand travelled to his and you began to lightly trace a faint scar he had on his hand.
"Everything means everything. It's not like there's a list of things you need to learn. You learn by doing them." He lifted your face so that you could face him. "How about you, brat? Were you taught everything?"
His eyes burned to you, and you went speechless. Was Captain Levi flirting with you?? "I- um....." you began to stuttered.
Levi smiled as he noticed your cheeks go bright red. His hand caress your face.
His attention was then turned to a smoke signal being seen at the distance. "Let's get going, brat."
