Ever since my baby went away, it's been the blackest day

You exited your bedroom as quiet as possible, not wanting to make any noise. It was late at night, but during lunch, Sasha had given you a handwritten letter.
It wasn't any letter. It was a letter written by your boyfriend asking you to meet him outside of headquarters that night. Claiming that he needed to see you, and you obliged. You wanted to see him as well. He was your boyfriend after all.
You sped walk the halls, as quiet as possible, going as far as holding your breath.
The halls were empty and all the cadets were already sleeping. Tomorrow was a very important day after all.
You reached the end of the hallway, and came to a sudden stop as you heard a voice call out your name.
"Cadet y/n. What exactly are you doing outside your bedroom at this time? You know the rules."
Your body completely tense as you recognized that voice. It belonged to Captain Levi.
You quickly looked behind you, seeing he was standing at the opposite end of the hallway.
"H-How did you know it was me?" Was all you managed to say.
His cold gaze travelled to the top of your head. Looking at the flower crown you were wearing. You always wore flower crowns because you loved adorning your hair with flowers, so of course he would know it was you.
"You need to rest because tomorrow we have expedition outside of the walls. You know this already Cadet y/n. I was very clear about it during training..."
"I know. I know." You interrupted him looking at the floor. You were so close to exiting the headquarters without getting noticed, but now you were caught. "It's just that....I really needed to go to the restroom." You lied to him. Your heart accelerating at the fact that you LIED to Captain Levi.
He opened his mouth to say something, but you began to run. "I'll be quick, I promise!!" You called out not turning to look back.
A smile spread across your face, trying to hold back a laughter. What was your Captain going to do? Chase after you? Yeah, you'd like to see him try.
Eren stood under a tall tree, impatiently waiting for you outside of the headquarters.
There were other cadets outside, standing a couple of feet away from Eren. Despite the distance, Eren could hear their whispers, laughter, and could even smell the smoke from their cigarettes.
"Eren....?" You stood a few feet away from him. Stopping for a minute trying to recognize his features in the dark of the night.
"It's me, y/n." He recognize you by the flower crown you were wearing. Your hair was decorated with blue hydrangeas with small white flowers. The colors made him sad.
"Eren!!" You recognize his voice and ran to his arms, embracing him in a tenderly hug.
"Is that Cadet Eren and Cadet y/n??" A guy standing with the group of cadets smoking called out in a playful tone. Everyone in the scout regiment knew that you and Eren were in a romantic relationship. The flower girl and the titan boy.
And everyone knew how much you loved him....
"Shhh." You playfully called out to the group as you placed your index finger on your mouth. "It's not us." But your playful smile only caused them to laugh.
It was good that everyone was having a good time right now. The nights before expeditions were always like this. Everyone was so kind and playful towards each other because it might be the last night alive for many people.
"y/n." Eren grabbed you by your arms, causing your attention to leave the group of cadets and refocused on him and only him.
"Yes?" You asked stroking his shoulder length, dark brown hair. The look into his green/turquoise eyes made you stop. Something was wrong.
"We need to talk, y/n." His voice was deep and serious and his warm hands let go of your arms. The cold night's breeze made you slightly shiver, you mentally wished he could hold you again.
You nodded. The sky got clearer and the moon's light revealed his expression. His once beautiful turquoise eyes revealed a sea of mixed emotions. "What's wrong-"
"Hey, flower girl!" Your attention was snapped back to the group of smoking cadets only a few distance from you and Eren. "Did anyone catch you sneaking out outside??"
"Um.... Captain Levi did catch me in the hall, but I told him I needed to use the restroom-"
"Do you guys mind?? We're having a conversation." Eren snapped at the group of cadets. His tone of voice frightened you like a bird. Unconsciously you took a step away from him.
"What's wrong Eren.... Did any of the commanders get after you?" You asked him. Recently Eren had been acting weird. He wasn't his usual self who wanted to defeat the titans. He was more sad, more angry. You heard from Sasha and Connie that he had snapped during training these past few days, but you weren't there to see. But now that he was acting this way, in front of you, you knew your friends weren't lying.
"No y/n." It's none of that. His eyes travelled to your pajamas, being unable to sustain eye contact with you. "It's none of that."
"Oh." You looked at the ground. "Sasha gave me a letter from you that said to come meet you here-"
"I know she did. I told her to." He interrupted you.
"Why didn't you just give it to me?"
"Because I needed to think." He made eye contact with you eyes. His hand instinctive reaching to stroke your hair decorated with flowers, before he pulled his hand away. "I don't think I want to be with you anymore."
You looked up from the ground and met his turquoise eyes. "Oh." Was all you managed to say.
He began to walk away, and the feeling of sadness hit you. "Why-" your voice came like a whisper and you felt your hands began to tremble.
"I...." He looked at you and there was direct eye contact before he looked away. "I like someone else."
"Who....?" Your voice was shaking and you began to feel tears escape your eyes. You were glad that the tree you two were standing under casted shadows on your face. You didn't want anyone to see you cry.
"It just happened..."
"Really....?" You grabbed his arms remembering the day you two met. You talked to him on his first expedition. He was so scared to the point of crying that you had to sing him a song and put flowers in his hair to calm him down. "After everything I did for you..." the phrase was like a whisper. You didn't mean to say it, but it escaped your lips.
And he heard you clearly.
"This person has done so much for me too, y/n." He raised his voice at you, pulling his arms away from your grip. "She's always been there for me."
"That's enough, Eren." You didn't want to hear another word.
"Eren! y/n! The commanders are coming!" Someone shouted as the group of smoking cadets began to run inside headquarters, using the backdoor, to prevent getting caught outside.
You and Eren stared at each other's eyes for what felt like years before he walked away.
You pressed your back against the tree you were standing under. Hoping that the tree would hide you from the multiple flash lights shining towards the dark of the night.
But at the same time, it didn't matter if any of the commanders caught you.
You couldn't imagine being in the scouts regiment without being with Eren.
