Now I lay me down to dream
Worlds apart from conscious streams
Dare not wake me from this mist
where no heartless men exist

Feet upon the thistles sting
and yet I wander past the spring
Lavender mixed in blossom dew
Spread upon these bruises few

I touch the void and do not fear
Nothing itself is comfort here
Dark the thunder; Loud the light
ever wrapped in sleep past night

Now I rest in places unseen
in waves of shades smothered in green
I dare not drink the unsweet rum
I shall not leave until its done

Stay the course of roads unpaved
Spend all the time this heart has saved
and when the world comes to call
I'll turn them away, one and all
