Chapter 09
Third Year,
Alright Romeo
She had thought of every possible gift that she could get Remus, only having a short time to get him something, she figured that she would gift him something that he could use all the time and give him some comfort on lonely nights.
She didn't have much time left to hurry back to her common room, she still had to wrap the gift. Freya was hurled downstairs, by Marlene and Emma they all wanted to be downstairs when Remus walked down everyone sat patiently waiting for the birthday boy to come down the stairs.
"SURPR- AHH!" Everyone yelled unaware just how loud the bang of red sparks, and party poppers would be.
"That was louder than expected," Sirius commented
"You think," Marlene said, rubbing her ear, as he set them right next to her.
"Thank you," Remus said, "we're not having a late night though, Right?"
"We swear," Peter crossed his fingers behind his back
"Good to be honest with you all I'm pretty tired-
"Nonsense," Lily told him, hooking his arm with hers, "You aren't going to bed early," he smiled at her.
Few people knew why he was tired, Freya knew all to well as she was also tired, the full moon was only two days ago. Once Remus was alone she approached him, he smiled as she handed him a small box, with a gold ribbon wrapped around it.
"I got you something, I thought you'd like," as he pulled on the ribbon, she spoke, "You might want to open it privately," without warning he took her hand, heading up to his room, he quickly checked the bathroom, making sure they were alone. "I felt terrible about how many nights you spent alone, I realised we aren't always going to be together," he creased his brows opening the box, inside laid a thin scarf.
"Thanks,"
"I had my aunt Nora place a couple of charms on it, as well as my scent, you mentioned that you felt calmer because of me so I thought-" he wrapped her in a tight hug nuzzling his face into her neck, she chuckled, "I glad you like it," he pulled away glancing at the door.
"You're aware my friends, know about you now, Right?" she nodded, smiling softly.
"You trust them, so I guess I should too, I don't like lying to people, I don't know the girls well enough to tell them, I may never tell them, but your friends have kept your secret, so it's nice to know I'm not walking on eggshells,"
"You said we won't always be together, you're staying here right?"
"I don't know, my transfer here was until Ilvermorny can accommodate me safely,"
"So you might not come back after the summer,"
"We don't need to talk about it now, let's enjoy the rest of your birthday,"
27 March 1974
He watched her work, quietly laughing with Emma. He didn't think that her transfer to Hogwarts wasn't permanent, that she'd return to New York. He looked down at his work, sighing as he lazily carried on with his work.
"You alright?" Peter asked, he nodded. "You sure?"
"Yes, Pete, I'm just bored,"
"We're going to Hogsmeade after if you want to come with us," he heard Emma ask her.
"Yeah, I haven't been much it'd be nice to go before my birthday day," she said, he listened closely.
"When's your birthday, we should have a party,"
"6th of April,"
"It's a saturday too, perfect,"
"It's a full moon Freya," Remus whispered knowing she'd hear him.
"Actually, I'd rather celebrate the day after, my aunt is coming to see me,"
She sighed, this would be her worst birthday yet, unable to truly party and enjoy herself. At least she'd have Remus, she continued with her work, until the end of class. Remus pulled her aside before she left with Emma.
"Sorry about your birthday, I've never had my birthday be on a full moon, not yet anyway,"
"It's fine, now that we've figured out how to make it easier for us, it shouldn't be too bad,"
"Yeah, enjoy yourself today,"
"You're welcome to join us,"
"No, you go ahead, I get to spend all night along with you,"
"Yeah you do,"
"Sirius," Remus warned, Emma and Calliope left the classroom.
"You ready to go," Emma said, smiling at Sirius, "Hi, Sirius care to join us ladies,"
"God no, I don't want to hear how handsome I am, or how funny I am-
"Or big headed you are,"
"You hurt my feelings Cromwell, no matter Rem and I have business to attend to like gentlemen," Emma laughed.
"You a gentleman,"
"I can very gentle, with delicate person-
"Alright Romeo," Remus said shoving him aside, "keep moving,"
"The mouth on that boy," Callie spoke, "I can't imagine what he's going to be like when he's older,"
"He's got to run out of ideas soon right?" Freya questioned.
"I wouldn't be surprised he searches for them," Freya and Calliope looked at one another, "What?"
"You like his flirting admit it," Callie shook her head at Emma.
"You know, I'm trying to be better,"
"How so?" Freya asked.
"I'm trying to not smile as much when he's around, I'll have the summer to practise," they laughed with her, Freya looked down at the ground. "Are you okay?"
"There's a chance I may not be coming back to Hogwarts,"
"Really, but why did you transfer for six months," Calliope asked, she thought for a moment.
"I don't know, it's just what my parents decided,"
"We're going to miss you," Emma said, holding her hand, "Remus will miss you too,"
"I know, I'm already thinking about staying for a week before going home, I'm going to miss my aunt, I've hardly spent any time with her,"
Emma and Calliope linked their arms with hers, the three girls talked and gossiped, Calliope teased Freya about Remus, how he looked at her, he couldn't keep away from her. Then she turned to Emma taunting about her love for Sirius Black, no matter how she tried to deny it, she couldn't think straight when he spoke.
"Will you stop, I'm sure there's a boy you like too," Emma told her, thinking for a moment, "let's think, you might not talk to many boys, but you do talk to James," she laughed.
"Oh Em, you do have a unique mind, I've grown with him just as you have, it's easier to talk to him,"
"So you don't like James?" Freya asked.
"I only have a handful of friends, two I've grown up with the others are mutuals,"
"That didn't answer our question,"
"James is my friend, he always will be," Emma rolled her eyes.
"Fine deny it all you want, at least I admit, I like Sirius,"
Freya enjoyed their company, she'd surely miss them then she returned home. A small part was excited to go home, see her friends and other from her school. The other part was unsure of what awaited her when she returned, how were her parents to going to keep her safe in the city, how were Ilvermorny going to ensure her safety as well as the students.
