Sam's POV

I wake up from my nap to the door opening and I stand up as does the team who are lazily lying around and stand straight hoping not to get extra training for lying around on our phones and doing nothing.

"Team you have a new teammate, her name is Luna." He says and thoughts about her come up and I close my eyes and take a deep breath then open them to look at her standing infront of me, it's actually her...

I stand up then hug her closing my eyes as tears fall. She Stands there overwhelmed and I laugh as more tears fall, the team probably think I'm nuts, I never cry infront of them.

"I'll leave you alone to introduce yourselves." Fury says before leaving. He probably knows everything but I don't care.

"Ok what's going on Sam?" Ava asks just as confused as the rest of the team and I break apart the hug and look at my girlfriends for the first time in 3 years.

"I honestly don't know." I laugh then hug her again. I really hope this isn't another dream...

"She's from the Nova court...." Danny trails off looking at her armour and helmet as realisation hits him, "She's Anna." He says smiling.

"Who?" Peter asks.

"Sam's girlfriend." Luke fills in and I nod kissing her forehead.

"My girlfriend." I repeat smiling to say the words again.

"...and that's why I came here." I finish telling the story to Peter and he looks at Anna.

"How did you get her to date you?" Peter asks and Anna smiles.

"I asked him." She says and Ava smiles and nods.

"I like her." Ava says.

"Me too." Luke agrees.

"Sam's eyes don't look as broken so I also agree." Danny says.

Anna's POV

"Congrats, you're liked by the whole team now someone explain why Nova isn't being, well, Nova! It's freaking me out!" Peter, as he was introduced says clearly confused and concerned.

"Look I understand this is very confusing for everyone but it will eventually make sense." I say then look at Sam and sadly smile, "when he was sad, as a kid, he'd smile, act happy and be strong for everyone around him; he did the same after I left. The Sam you thought you knew was merely a mask to hide his emotions" I say and he looks at the table.

"You're back now and I'm fine, I don't want to talk about how I really felt." Sam says standing up. He's clearly insecure about his feelings. He never did like to talk about them.

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"I'm going for a walk." He says then leaves and I sigh. Some things don't change...

"We're so sorry, we don't know why he's so- so insecure all of a sudden. Shouldn't he be happy?" Ava asks.

"Growing up I was Sam's only friend, once his father died I was his only family too. When we were 13 the guardians of the galaxy took us in and we traveled the universe together and I made him happy. When we were 15 I was kidnapped and he thought I died in an explosion, the happiness left him and his heart broke completely. Now that I'm back he's in shock and his emotions will be everywhere but with support he'll be ok, give him until tomorrow" I explain.

"As long as Sam is happy." Ava agrees.

"Yeah, as long as he's happy." I say then yawn, "sorry I'm tired, having a raccoon yelling at you for 12 hours gets tiring."

Danny nods his head, "it's alright, we understand. You can rest in Sam's bed." Danny says.

"Won't he get-"

"Sam won't be back until tomorrow, we don't know where he goes but he's not sleeping here tonight." Luke explains to me and I nod.

"Ok then, I'm going to sleep. Thank you for understanding me and Sam." I thank before going to Sam's bed and almost instantly falling asleep.
