☆quatre☆

two weeks later...

taehyung felt pretty settled in his new friend group for the most part.

it was a sunday and taehyung was in his bedroom, giggling at the stupid messages the other boys were typing.

once everyone who was online said goodbye, he realised that he hadn't actually looked at any of their profiles.

now knowing this, he clicked on the last person to text which was jeongguk.

he scrolled through his account, looking at a few of his pictures.

he smiled softly.

"tellement mignon..." he mumbled to himself.

[trans: so cute...]

since the day he layed eyes on jeongguk he knew he'd take a liking to him.

something about his daintiness drew taehyung in. he wanted to know more about the pretty little boy. he seemed so soft and delicate which made taehyung never want to leave his adorable pastel-dressed side.

taehyung stared at his photo, trying to think of the perfect word to describe him.

his porcelain-smooth skin. soft, barely curled hair and blushy cheeks. he looked like...

a doll.

at least, he did in taehyung's eyes.

suddenly he closed instagram and pulled up google.

google translate to be exact.

he typed "ma poupée" into the device and that's where he found it.

my doll.

new nickname checkkkk.

after that, he turned on the tv and started surfing through channels, forgetting that he never looked at any of the boy's profiles but jeongguk's.

~the next day~

all seven boys were hanging out during morning time, waiting for classes to start.

yoongi usually never showed up this early so he was being grumpy, hoseok was trying to cheer him up by constantly kissing his face, namjoon was acting unusually nervous around seokjin, seokjin was acting unusually blushy around namjoon, jimin was giggling at some stupid meme on his phone and jeongguk was with him.

taehyung was doing his own thing on his phone, texting his friends back in france when he caught the sound of jeongguk's giggling.

soon it developed into full on laughter and it was honestly music to taehyung's ears.

he looked up to jeongguk, who was opposite him.

the younger boy stopped laughing and covered his mouth with one hand, thinking he sounded weird or looked ugly while he was laughing.

am i annoying him?

ew, i probably sound so disgusting!

i bet he saw my stupid rabbit teeth.

taehyung reached over to him, poking his cheek and smiling at him.

"don't worry, doll. sounds pretty." he reassured.

jeongguk's cheeks and ears turned bright red and his heart sped up slightly. he smiled softly at taehyung before looking down at the table, picking at his nails.

taehyung was amused by jeongguk's blushing and shyness as he looked back down at his phone.

jimin gave taehyung an unreadable look before stealing jeongguk's attention back to him and his phone.

"so, what's up with you two?" hoseok asked after a bit, turning to namjoon and seokjin.

"i- uh..." namjoon trailed off.

seokjin simply smiled awkwardly before turning away blushing.

"y'all are acting weird. what happened?" jimin questioned, now interested too.

"n-nothing, back off." namjoon insisted.

"i don't buy it." yoongi grumbled, pulling the brim of his hat up slightly so he could see them properly.

jin groaned, covering his face with his hands, "it's nothing, okay~"

"still not buying it." yoongi mumbled before pulling his hat down over his face again.

jimin got up and sat between them, smirking, "hmmm, blushing? nervousness? shyness? pretty quiet too. would it be wrong to assume that something happened between you two yesterday?"

seokjin's eyes went wide and namjoon just looked away.

"ooo~ can you feel the love tonight~" hoseok and jeongguk sang, sounding like little girls as they giggled in between words.

"ugh, shut up. what even makes you think that?!" seokjin asked.

"well, literally everything that i just said. also, you two weren't acting this way at school yesterday. not to mention, that you two have... history together~" jimin explained teasingly.

"now tell us!" jeongguk squealed and hoseok nodded vigorously.

even taehyung was leaning in, interested in the drama.

"jesus, namjoon, just say it." yoongi begs, completely over all the screeching, singing and giggling this early in the morning.

"shut up yoongi!" namjoon yelled.

"wait... do you know?!" hoseok said, putting his hands on yoongi's cheeks.

"yeah."

"you were supposed to keep quiet about it! you were, like, the only person i had faith in not to spill it!" namjoon complained.

"i got bored acting like i knew nothing. i wanted to see somethin' pop off." yoongi admitted, pulling hoseok's hands off of his face, kissing the back of them before putting them down.

"you told him?!" seokjin asked, scolding namjoon.

"yeah, i needed to speak to someone to get it off my chest!" namjoon defended himself.

"ha! so something did happen!" jimin announced, standing up in victory.

namjoon and jin looked at eachother silently before blushing madly and looking away again.

"cuties!" jeongguk screamed, doing little claps with his hands.

taehyung laughed at their embarrassed faces and poked seokjin's face.

all of a sudden, the bell for first class rang.

"oh thank god." seokjin said, getting up to leave.

"god doesn't exist." namjoon said, standing up too.

"we get it namjoon, you're an athiest." yoongi rolled his eyes, smiling at how flustered his friend was.

"that was the most interesting morning time there's been in a while." jimin laughed, intertwining his fingers with yoongi and holding his other hand out for hoseok to hold.

jeongguk and taehyung followed the other five boys too and eventually everyone had split off to their own lessons.

~time skip~

it was the end of the school day. throughout the day, not much happened. they continued to tease namjin about their pretty obvious secret that they still wouldn't admit to, more twitter memes, more gossiping and boring classes.

however one thing that jeongguk deemed unusual was the name that taehyung had repeatedly been calling him throughout the day. not to mention, his "confrontation" with... certain people.

~earlier, during break time~

jeongguk was waiting outside his classroom for seokjin to pick him up as he usually did.

he didn't need to be picked up, he was sixteen after all, but he only waited for seokjin because he insisted that he'd always pick him up and refused to let that go.

so, he was standing outside his class. he was wondering what was taking him so long since he was usually there before jeongguk even got let out.

he tapped his foot impatiently and as he was waiting he heard a boy whistle from behind him.

he turned around and immediately regretted it.

"hey ggukie~" jinyoung teased.

"don't call me ggukie..." jeongguk muttered, looking down timidly.

"awh, why? is that what jongin called you?" sehun joked.

"shut up." jeongguk mumbled.

"don't get an attitude with us now, ggukie. i know you're still salty that our friend dumped you for being ugly but-"

"you were the ones who made the bet with him!" jeongguk yelled, tears begining to form in his eyes.

"uh oh, look, you made the baby rabbit cry." sehun laughed.

jeongguk looked down at the ground before he suddenly felt an arm around his shoulder. he looked up and saw the person he least expected.

taehyung.

he didn't speak, he simply pulled jeongguk away from the scene, leaving sehun and jinyoung confused.

once they were a good distance away, taehyung stopped and faced jeongguk.

"you're okay, doll?" taehyung asked, wiping a stray tear from the younger boy's eye.

jeongguk's cheeks flushed at the action and the nickname that taehyung had also used earlier that day.

"yeah, i'm- i'm okay, thanks."

taehyung smiled at him and began to walk again, "seokjin can't get you. he busy."

"oh, i see. so he sent you?" jeongguk asked, following closely behind.

"yes, doll. here i am." taehyung answered, opening the door to the cafeteria to join the rest of the group minus seokjin... and namjoon.

~back to the present~

all seven were together and saying their goodbyes when taehyung patted jeongguk's hair and kissed the side of his face, which jeongguk had become used to.

"goodbye, doll." he said, before turning around to say bye to seokjin.

however, before he did, jeongguk held his wrist.

"why do you keep calling me that?" he wondered.

"you look like doll so i'll call you doll." taehyung reasoned.

jeongguk blushed for the tenth time that day. it seemed that taehyung had been the main source of his flustered and shy behaviour since the day he came to the school two weeks ago.

"n-no i don't. i'm not pretty like a doll is." jeongguk argued, still flustered.

taehyung frowned deeply at those words and pinched jeongguk's cheek.

"stop talking like that, doll." he said before going back to saying his goodbyes.

jeongguk sighed, said his goodbyes to everyone, then began to walk home alone since jimin had somewhere to be.

the whole walk, one thought was in jeongguk's mind.

he thinks i'm pretty.

the thought made his cheeks burn up and caused a stupid smile to spread across his face which stayed there the more he kept thinking about it as he walked.

once he finally reached home, he was immediately greeted by his mother.

"hello baby boy. how was school, hmm?" she asked, taking his bag and jacket from him.

"it was good." jeongguk answered, still smiling ear to ear.

"why are you smiling so big, huh?" his mother asked, grinning at her son.

"it's nothing." he said, giggling and fiddling with his fingers.

"tell me baby, what's got you so happy?" the woman smiled.

"it's just... it's just this boy, that's all. he's new. he transferred from france two weeks ago." jeongguk confessed shyly.

"i see... what's he done to have you getting butterflies over him?" she asked, further interested.

"he always seems so... i don't know, mysterious kinda? even though he doesn't realise it or try to be. and he always makes fun of me for being so shy but not in a mean way, in a flirty and teasing kind of way. he even gave me a nickname." jeongguk admitted, blushing more and more by the second.

"which is?" said his dad, interrupting his wife who looked like she was about to say something she'd regret later, as he came from around the corner and was now also interested in jeongguk's mystery boy.

"doll." jeongguk said before sighing dreamily.

mr and mrs jeon looked at eachother as they realised that their son, indeed, had a crush.

one parent didn't mind it at all. the other however... was not too thrilled about this recent discovery.

jeongguk had always developed crushes fairly easily. he was just lucky that, when he did, he didn't fall in deep straight away. even though he appeared a very gullible person when it came to trusting others, it took time for him to become fully infatuated with someone. non-platonic love had always been a challenge for him for multiple past and present reasons.

little did anyone know that taehyung would prove that challenge to be fairly easy after all.
