a few days pass.
jeongguk had been ignoring both jimin and his mother since he rightfully lashed out at them.
taehyung had been picking him up and dropping him home instead of jimin and his mother had nothing to say about it anymore.
the rest of the friend group noticed this change between jeongguk and jimin and also taehyung too but they had no idea what happened.
jeongguk didn't tell anyone about the argument, jimin refused to speak about it too, even to his boyfriends, and taehyung didn't spill because he felt like it wasn't his place.
right now, taehyung was walking down the school corridor with jeongguk inbetween classes.
"when are you gonna speak to your mum and jimin?" taehyung asked.
"when they apologise. this is their fault." jeongguk stated.
the day that it happened, although he was extremely angry, he did still feel bad for freaking out on them.
however, now that it'd been a few days and it had set in, he didn't feel bad at all. he was determined to stand his ground.
"i mean, yes but don't you miss them?" taehyung questioned.
"kinda... but i don't miss being treated like a child." jeongguk reasoned.
"fair enough" taehyung agreed.
they walked in comfortable silence for a bit before taehyung spoke up again.
"hey, jeongguk?"
"yeah?"
"you and me. date. on saturday." taehyung said shortly.
"r-really?" jeongguk asked, looking at him with wide eyes because of the sudden request.
"yeah." he confirmed, slinging his arm around jeongguk.
"o-okay! where? what time? how-" jeongguk stuttered, already excited.
"it's a suprise again. 6pm. i'll pick you up." taehyung smiled.
"alright, see you later, i gotta get to class early." jeongguk smiled back at him.
"okay, see you at break."
taehyung took the other boy's face in his hands gently and kissed his forehead.
he saw the blush rising on the younger boy's cheeks as he quickly turned and scurried away giggling.
he chuckled to himself, watching with heart eyes as jeongguk rushed away.
suddenly taehyung got a tap on the back and turned around to see hoseok and seokjin.
"hey."
"hey tae." seokjin greeted.
"where's gguk?" hoseok asked.
"he went to the classroom early."
"oh okay." seokjin said.
"so, taehyung, are you and gguk a thing now?" hoseok asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
"huh?"
"you know like... an item?" hoseok pressed on.
"what?" taehyung deadpanned.
"what the idiot means is are you dating?" seokjin interrupted.
"oh... well, no. we're going on a date if that's what you mean. but he's not my boyfriend." taehyung explained.
"yet." hoseok winked.
taehyung laughed, "shut up."
"you two are so cute though, seriously. i can't wait til you're a couple." seokjin admitted.
taehyung blushed, "how d'you know we'll be a couple..."
"oh my gosh, is the kim taehyung: notorious for being unbothered, smug and cool as shit and never ever gets nervous or flustered by anything... blushing?" hoseok teased.
"over a boy too." seokjin joined in, poking taehyung.
"i'm leaving." taehyung deadpanned once again before being dragged back.
"nooo, we're sorry taetae~"
meanwhile with jeongguk,
he was sitting in class thinking about what just happened.
taehyung just asked him on a date and kissed his head.
jeongguk's smile was beaming.
he fiddled with his fingers and thought about how he was so upset and frustrated just a few days ago but now he was the happiest he'd been in ages.
i guess this is like the calm after the storm... or is the saying the calm before the storm??? oh whatever. you get it.
as he was thinking about this, the teacher walked in.
"hello jeongguk, thank you for coming early like i asked. i just want you to look at this." she greeted.
"alright miss." jeongguk said, walking up to her desk.

taehyung and jeongguk were walking home together, arms interlinked.
"would you rather eat only cotton candy for the rest of your life or eat only mac n cheese?" jeongguk asked.
"hmmm, do i get cavaties from all the candy floss or acne from all the cheese?" taehyung questioned.
"no negative side-effects included." jeongguk specified.
"then definitely mac n cheese. that's so easy." taehyung answered.
"agreed. cheese is life." jeongguk giggled.
once they arrived, taehyung kissed his cheek before leaving towards his own home.
when jeongguk walked in he saw his mother waiting for him.
he was going to walk past her but she called out to him.
"jeongguk, i'm sorry!"
he stopped and turned around to face her which was her queue to speak.
"listen, now that it's been a few days and i've had my time to think and given you your space, i'm ready to admit that i'm in the wrong." she admitted.
"go on..." jeongguk listened.
"jeongguk... you know i love you, right? so so much. i just- i know that i've had the tendancy to baby you for years now, not even just recently, and i'm sorry for that first of all. it's been a problem ever since ypu went to middle school and it's only gotten worse. and then, when the whole drama happened with that boy and you- you lost all your confidence, you wouldn't talk to me anymore and you just closed yourself off i... i didn't know what to do. you always seemed so upset and it was heartbreaking. and so my babying got even worse in attempt to make you happy. then, when taehyung came into the equation, it looked like history was repeating itself. you coming home all giggly and saying that it was about some boy. it reminded me of what happend with jongin and i- i didn't want to have to see you go through that horrible stage of your life again. so i tried my best to tear you apart. i can admit that that was my goal. it obviously didn't work because of your father being a lot nicer than me about it and you finally sticking up for yourself which i'm glad you did. i'm ashamed that i needed to get reprimanded by a sixteen year old to realise that i was wrong but at least i know it now. maybe this is too soon for you but i really am sorry, honey. i don't want to get ignored by my only son for any longer." his mother finally finished and when she did she felt her son gently wrap both his arms around her torso.
"it's okay mama." jeongguk accepted her apology softly, feeling comforted by his mother's touch and atmosphere that he had to admit he'd missed over past couple days despite being mad at her.
she hugged him back and smiled, happy that her son didn't want to ignore her anymore.
when he pulled away she picked up her car keys from the side table and opened the door.
"cmon, we're going out." she announced, ushering him out.
"what? where?"
"shopping! it's part two of my sorry gift. let's go buy cute clothes." she chuckled, pushing him to the car.
"alright, alright, let's go." he laughed, getting into the passenger seat.

they were going store to store in the mall. quite literally shopping til they dropped.
they were looking through a rack of sweaters. jeongguk felt independent while with his mother, for once.
"i like this dark green one." jeongguk said, picking up a sweater.
"but... what about this yellow one?" his mother smiled, holding up the bright, fluffy jumper.
"mum~" jeongguk whined.
"okay okay, put it in the basket." she pouted.
"anything you need in particular?" she spoke again after a few seconds.
"well... i am going on a date with tae on saturday..." jeongguk mumbled, already blushing at the thought just like earlier.
"great! let's go find you an outfit!" his mother smiled, dragging him to the cashier so they could pay and move onto another shop.
