Chapter 20: All That Remains

Jeon Jungkook

Without hesitation, I lunged at Dalhwan, putting him in a headlock and restraining him the best that I could.

"Get out of here! I'll catch up with you!" I ordered, trying to catch my breath as I struggled to keep Dalhwan where he was.

Namjoon and Hoseok ran out, even then I could still hear them through my earpiece.

"E.C.T knew all along, don't go for the van, it's too risky, head straight for the tunnel and make a run for it, the rest of us will catch up." Namjoon explained, breathing heavily.

"Holy shit, we can't leave Jungkook."

"He can handle himself !"

Dalhwan jolted out of my grip, and landed a harsh punch squarely on my jaw. The bulky ring on his right hand's middle finger caught on my lip, causing it to throb. I chuckled darkly and punched him in return, causing his nose to bleed and making him hit the wall of his office.

To finish him off, I kicked him accurately in his solar plexus, knowing the diaphragmatic spasms would be enough to keep him down for a while.

Sprinting out of the office, I made my way to the warehouse's exit, spotting my fellow members and picking up my pace.

"Whatever you do, don't stop running!" Hoseok yelled. "Not unless there's absolutely no choice!"

My legs ached as we all ran as fast as we could, beginning to make our way towards the nearby tunnel. As I ran, a throbbing pain returned to my jaw and bottom lip; when I licked my lips I tasted blood. Fucking bastard split my lip... Ignoring the pain, I focused on running, making sure all my members were keeping up.

"Fucking hell this is long!" Yoongi growled, his voice echoing in the tunnel.

"We have to keep moving, no fucking excuses!" Jimin yelled, beginning to run ahead of us.

"How far does this tunnel go?" Taehyung shouted, panting heavily.

My response to his question was laced with fatigue, "Far enough to know we won't last long enough to escape, they could have a car!" I vociferated. It felt like my heart was crawling out through my throat.

Seokjin replied to me with pure sarcasm. "So optimistic." He was clearly still bitter over our last argument, all while heaving for air and attempting to maintain the same pace as everyone else.

"Shut up Jin! Now's not the time!" I bellowed, dismissing the severe aches pulsing through my body.

"Keep going until we get to the end, we gotta get out of here alive!" Hoseok instructed, his voice ragged but still loud enough to hear as it bounced off of the walls of the tunnel.

Before we could all register what was happening, Jimin stopped running abruptly causing us all to stop with him.

"Oh shit..." He mumbled under his breath.

Three cars sped down the tunnel in front of us and screeched at a 90 degree angle, causing the road to be completely blocked. And as we turned around, three other cars had done the same thing.

All back to back, we realised we were trapped.

"GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES AND PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD." A man roared at us, making us turn to the voice and slump our shoulders in defeat. Even then we were still trying to catch our breath. A large group of armed men began to surround us, each aiming a weapon at all of us.

Our chests heaved painfully as we sunk to our knees in an unintentional v-shaped line, following the man's orders.

Someone grabbed our wrists one by one and tied them behind our backs.

I felt the wet, concrete floor tap at my knees like pins and needles, cold sweat dripped down from my forehead and the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. Although there were cars blocking every direction, I could still feel an ice cold draft cut my skin. The only sound that could be heard was the heavy breathing of my hyungs and I.

That was, until multiple car doors opened and closed, being slammed shut afterwards.

As I shakily addressed my gaze to the upcoming footsteps, I saw a group of people I never expected to see.

KARD?!

Kim Seokjin

To my horror, KARD, the group that had supposedly left our company, stood before us. We didn't even get the chance to address the situation before another curve-ball was thrown our way.

Walking in between KARD stood our main CEO, Yeo Siwan. Our jaws immediately dropped.

How was this possible?!

"S-Siwan-nim?" Namjoon asked with a faltered voice, I had never heard him so confused and uncertain.

"You all really make me laugh!" Siwan guffawed, his eyes gleaming over our hopeless expressions. He was mocking us, as if the mental trauma weren't enough...

Everyone was speechless, we had nothing to retaliate with, we were all too shocked.

"Oh and Jungkook?" Siwan called out, making the youngest's eyes widen in fear. "Dalhwan really didn't appreciate that last kick you gave him." I watched tears form in Jungkook's eyes.

Siwan motioned his hand and BM, the tallest male member of KARD, strode towards the sharpshooter and grabbed him by his collar.

"Dalhwan already gave you a good hit huh?" BM smirked, kneeing Jungkook in the stomach and swinging one last punch at his face before dropping him on the ground.

Hearing the youngest's cries of pain as he stayed curled up into a fetal position angered me, we may have our differences but he doesn't deserve this. I was about to stand up and defend him but Yoongi had already beat me to it.

"HEY!" He snarled, "Pick on me, but don't pick on them." Yoongi's voice stayed at a low tone, which along with his cold stare, made him seem unstoppable.

BM walked over to him angrily, but Siwan stopped him and stood before Yoongi instead.

"Look at you Min Yoongi, always trying to be the tough guy." Siwan chuckled dastardly.

Yoongi stared nonchalantly at him, yet a fire raged in his eyes. "What made you think this was necessary? And where are the other CEOs?"

Siwan laughed again.

"Answer the fucking questions!"

Grabbing his gun, Siwan aimed it against Yoongi's neck. "Watch your tone, young man." He didn't flinch at all, instead he gazed back and forth from the gun to Siwan's smug expression.

"This was certainly necessary, I no longer needed you all, and because you knew too much, I decided that deceit was the best way to go about it," Siwan grinned, "Jikang and Seongi agreed with me if that's what you mean, they just didn't hate you enough to haul themselves here."

"Fuck you Siwan." Yoongi snapped, his serious expression and lack of formalities contributed to his fuming feeling. An emotion in which all of us could relate to.

In annoyance and before anyone could react, Siwan used the back of his gun to knock Yoongi out. Fortunately it didn't work as well as he had hoped, instead he was dazed and brought back to the same position everyone else was in.

As if on cue, a fairly large draft of wind came rushing through the tunnel, making an already damp newspaper land in front of us. The headline was enough to catch our attention.

'DAEKEUN'S DEATH DESTROYS DEMOCRACY'

'His pregnant wife left distraught...'

My stomach churned as a huge wave of guilt washed over me, knowing I helped ruin a family and let three children live father-less lives pained me, I was part of that, and that means it was my fault.

"Oh! Would you look at that?" Siwan commented gleefully, " It's today's newspaper! I wonder what it says.." The sick bastard knew exactly what he was doing.

He walked over to Jungkook, who by now had already shed a few tears, and grabbed him by his shirt collar, dragging him across the floor on his knees until he was perched in front of the newspaper. Jungkook winced in pain as he recovered from some of his injuries.

"Take a look!" Siwan chuckled, kneeling down to Jungkook's level.

I watched him lower his head.

"READ IT!" Siwan yelled, making him jump.

Anger boiled inside of me, but there was nothing I could do.

"Siwan!" Namjoon called out firmly, he had managed to regain some strength and confidence. "This isn't necessary!"

Narrowing his eyes at Namjoon, Siwan scowled and ignored his comment.

"You ruined a family Jungkook, you made three children FATHER-LESS and destroyed a pregnant woman's life!" Siwan exclaimed, laughing obnoxiously. Then he lowered his tone, and with that his facial expression turned cold. "Not so powerful now are you?"

From where I was kneeling, I could see Jungkook's shoulders shaking up and down, indicating he was crying. His cries could not be heard but his body language spoke for him.

"Right, that's enough for today." Siwan announced, standing up. "You know what to do next." He addressed his guards before making his way back to the car he had emerged from.

BM, Somin and J Seph had all begun to follow Siwan, yet Jiwoo stayed behind for a bit. She stepped towards Jungkook and crouched down on one knee, harshly gripping his chin and pulling it up to look at her.

"You're crying?" She asked softly, giggling at him. "How adorable!"

Jiwoo yanked Jungkook's chin away, causing his neck to flinch to the right and for him to stare down at the ground in shame.

Nothing could be done as KARD and Yeo Siwan left the scene, we were surrounded.

Seven men voluntarily stepped out and aimed their guns right at us, I could feel the cold barrel of the gun at the back of my head but I couldn't see what was happening behind me. Maybe that was a good thing, however I could see everyone else and how they were being aimed at.

Minutes felt like hours, yet all I could think about was how our lives were going to come to an end...
