Chapter 65- Poison

Chapter 65

A few moments pass and there's a tense silence hanging over the room like a hazy, misty fog.

Michael hasn't said a word, but instead looks in every direction, trying to think of something to say.

More time slides by. Losing patience, I sigh and tap my foot.

I step out for an appointment, that he forced me to go to, and now he has some woman in the house.

This doesn't seem fair at all. What could they possibly be talking about? I definitely have the right to know.

"Well Michael? I ask. Who is she?" I gesture to the woman who's still sitting in front of him, obviously uncomfortable.

"You didn't stop for lunch? You weren't hungry?" He asks.

The nerve of this man, to think he can just change the subject like that.

"Hello? Serious matter here. You're meeting with some random mystery woman that I know nothing about. I think the issue about lunch can surely wait."

He clamps his mouth shut and looks around.

"Answer. The question. Who the hell is she?"

He opens his mouth again but I hold my hand up.

"You know what? I don't think I even want to know."

I turn to the lady and fold my arms angrily.

"Look, whoever you are. I don't know why you're here but that's not the point, that's not important. What's important is that Michael is my man. He's mine. See?"

I hold up my hand and flash the huge rock that fits on my finger.

"He's happily engaged to me. Okay? And I'm pregnant. Nearly six fucking months pregnant." I his at her.

She gives me a small smile. What the hell is there to smile about? This situation is not the least bit happy, nor amusing.

"She really loves you Michael."

He nods. "Yes, she does. But I love her even more. More than she will ever understand."

The woman slowly stands from the chair. "I guess I should be going."

"Ms. Haywood, I'm so sorry.." He apologizes.

"Well I'm not," I snap at her. "Go. Ta ta!"

"Maybe we could try to meet again." Michael says softly.

"Meet again? Are you crazy? Hell no you're not going to 'meet again'! Get out of my house and stay away from my man!"

She chuckles and walks to the door. "I'm not after your man Alondra. I'm really not. Goodbye Michael, and please, don't worry about today. She loves you."

With that she shuts the door behind her and I hear her heels clicking away.

I run my hands through my hair and breathe out. "Bitch."

Michael finally turns to me. "Sweetheart-"

"Don't." I murmur, stopping him in his tracks. "Don't."

I then stride toward the door and leave the room.

I need to cool down. Before I rip my hair out.

--

During my chill session, I decide to recline in the library with a 1984 issue of Musician, to where Michael's perfect face was on the cover.

The thing is, I'm not even reading the magazine. I'm only staring at the cover.

He is beautiful. Truly. I am so lucky, no, blessed, to have him.

His gorgeous curls, caramel smooth skin, chiseled cheekbones and perfect nose.

He really is a work of art. No matter what, he will always be beautiful to me.

Now that's making me realize that I can't be mad at him. And I'm going to push the events of today aside to enjoy every waking moment with him.

Life is fast.

I only hope that Michael will come find me.

And he does. Exactly two minutes later, he walks through the golden doors.

He nestles himself next to me and I entangle our legs together.

Before he can say a word, I make something known.

"What happened today is in the past baby. I'm over it, and it's done." I say to him.

He twirls a lock of my hair in his fingers before letting it slip away. "Okay."

I just decide to give him the benefit of the doubt. Whoever that woman was, he is not having relations with her. I know that and I'm confident in that.

I lean in and lightly kiss his lips. He graciously returns the kiss and holds my waist securely.

"What do you think about a movie night?" I breathe and kiss him again.

"I think that your perfect mind came up with a perfect idea."

I grin and gaze at him. "Great."

He gets off of the chair next to me and helps me up. "After you."

I exit the room and make my way to our bedroom as he follows behind me. I put in The Black Cauldron before laying in bed.

"Wait, you were serious about the movie?"

I raise an eyebrow at him. "Yes, what were you thinking?"

He rubs the back of his neck and chuckles. "I thought movie night was a code for something else..."

I giggle. "Something else? What are you implying baby?"

He groans. "You know love." He kisses my neck and slides in the bed next to me. "You know."

I sigh of pleasure as he nips at the skin. "I know that I know, Michael." His lips travel down to plant sweet kisses on my shoulder blade.

He lays back on the bed and I carefully climb on top of him, sitting on his chest.

"Do you want it?" I question.

"Of course sweetheart..." He whispers while pulling down the strap of my top. "It's been months."

"Sorry," I snicker and lean in to capture his lips with my own.

He smiles and then taps my bottom gently with his palm.

"Get off for a second sweetheart," He says.

"Why?" I frown but slide off of him nevertheless.

"The window's open and I'm feeling sort of chilly."

"Oh. I could have closed it," I reply as he walks to the other side of the room, pulling off his white v-neck.

"Why would I let you when I can do it?" He smirks.

"Such a gentleman you are," I giggle.

Unbeknownst to Alondra, Michael did not feel chilly in the slightest bit. The truth was, he heard rustling outside. And he knew that it wasn't the trees. It was something. Someone, for that matter. He needed to keep her safe of course, but didn't want her worried and worked up.

He reaches the window, and before closing it he checks outside. Looking in every direction he can. The rustling has stopped. After a few seconds, he concludes that no one is outside and it was probably his active imagination.

"Michael?" Alondra calls to him. "What's taking you so long?"

"Nothing baby. I'm coming-"

Suddenly, Michael receives a punch to the face with a hard fist. Taken by surprise, he holds he cheek until another fist lands on his nose.

He screeches in pain and looks around wildly in the dark.

"Michael? What is going on?" Alondra asks with worry in her voice.

Hard, rough arms struggle and drag him out of the window and into the night.

He can still hear Alondra screaming his name.

Before he felt the poison setting in.

They both felt it setting in.
