6) Took You Long Enough
Emmalyn was almost done wiggling out of the chains. She had woken up about an hour earlier and made sure the two others in the room were still asleep before she started trying to get out. She couldn't really see them from where she was, but she was sure they were asleep. And finally Emmalyn was stuck on the last one. The tightest of them all. It hurt in her sitting up position to be like that because the chain dug into her hips and the pain was certainly unpleasant. But she was almost out. Slowly and steadily, she was getting outta there!
"..Ahem." A little intentional cough meant to grab attention sounded from the bed. Emmalyn quickly turned her head to see Herobrine sitting on the bed with his legs off the edge, just watching her. And on his face he had a little pleased smile Emmalyn didn't understand.
"H- how long have you been watching?" Emmalyn shook.
"Since you started." He smirked. Emmalyn just raised an eyebrow at him.
"How?" She asked. Then to demonstrate Hero turned invisible and picked up a pillow while he was at it to show he was still there. Emmalyn frowned at his proof. Hero turned visible again.
"Interesting how I had no idea you even existed 'till yesterday, yet you turned out so much like me." He observed with that same small pleased smile on his face.
"Pfff! No!" Emmalyn objected, crossing her arms in the process.
"And that just proves it." He chuckled in response. That didn't make Emmalyn feel Any better one bit.
"If you promise not to run off I'll let you out." Hero offered.
"I can promise, but I cant' promise to keep that promise." Emmalyn scoffed. Herobrine only chuckled.
"What's your name again?" He asked.
"Uh, Emmalyn."
"That's a nice name. You have a middle name too?" Hero continued.
"..Stephen. Kind of a shortened fun way for Stephane." Emmalyn half whispered.
"Hm. So Emmalyn Stephen Brine? Doesn't sound too bad."
"Brine?! No it's Minner!" Emmalyn corrected.
"It would be, if your dad was actually Steve." Herobrine corrected her correction.
"No!. Where's your proof?!" Emmalyn was shouting at that point, which woke Emery.
"Wh.. What are you two fighting about?" Emery asked groggily.
"Same thing as yesterday Dear. No need to get wrapped up in it." Hero calmed her. She quickly rolled over and fell back asleep. "I guess the next thing to do would be to find some proof. It is nearing sunset in the Over World, so now would probably be the best time to get up." Hero said as he got up. He then walked over and pulled the chains apart as if they were nothing but twine. Emmalyn just witnessed in awe.
"Uuh, if I am your daughter, could I do that?" She asked.
"Yeah. Just takes practice." Was his plain answer. Herobrine began walking over to the door and Emmalyn quickly got up and followed. They both exited the room and walked down the halls. Even though Emmalyn didn't know the place she walked around as if she knew it top to bottom. Hero recognized and smirked at the similarities. Finally the two arrived at a door, and they both stopped before it.
"This the lab or something?" Emmalyn asked.
"Yep." Hero answered. Then he pushed open the door, revealing a very different environment. It was indeed a lab. The walls lined with counters with brewing stands atop and contraptions of all kinds littered around the place. But it wasn't an abandoned place. Not at all. There were dozens of both mobs and villagers wearing lab-coats scampering around the place, all with commands in mind and plans at work. Several were working on prototype items, like the brand new crossbow designs and water mechanics. And others were simply brewing potions that might be needed in the future.
"John!!" Herobrine shouted into the room.
"You yelled Sir?!" An Irish accented skeleton peeked from behind a large contraption with a clipboard in hand and glasses on face.
(This whole character is a movie reference! XD Have fun finding out which movie I'm referring to.)
"I need a DNA test done." Hero ordered.
"Of course Sir! Right away Sir!" He responded with excitement certainly not expected. Then John strode to a corner in the room and rummaged through some drawers. He came back with a little machine, some papers, and the needles and such for collecting blood.
"Let me see this! I don't want it to all be some scam." Emmalyn grabbed what she presumed to be the blood tester and looked over it for any possible settings or oddities about it. She finally handed it back to John after not finding anything wrong with it. John then lead the two to an uncluttered desk where he set everything up.
"So if this all turns out that I am, you know, your daughter. Does that mean you, you know, with Alex?" Emmalyn asked awkwardly.
"...possibly." Hero answered just as awkwardly, and if not, then even more so.
"Weeeeelll. Awkward." Emmalyn looked down and kicked the ground a little with her feet.. After a few moments of awkward silence John was finally done setting the stuff up.
"Everything ready Sir!" He announced. Then both Emmalyn and Herobrine took the blood test and John took a close look at the results. When everything was on paper he looked exhilarated.
"Why Sir, it's a match! She is your daughter indeed! Isn't that grand news Sir?! Isn't that right Mis-" He exclaimed, but stopped when he saw Emmalyn just scowling at him. "Ahem! I'll be in the back if you need me Sir." And with that, he left.
Emmalyn was silent for a moment, just processing. The building up anger and confusion slowly began showing on her face as it grew redder. It looked as if she were getting ready to explode. And eventually she did. But not literally though. :>
"HOW IN ALL THE LAND OF MINECRAFTIA ARE YOU MY FATHER!?!" She figuratively exploded. She stomped her foot and thrust some stuff off the nearest counter. She was gaining everyone's attention, but they tried their best to ignore the commotion and continue on with their work. Emmalyn didn't know what to do with her anger. And Herobrine didn't know how to calm her. Anything he either said or did would only make things worse. Emmalyn had so much built up anger in her at that point that her eyes, even started to glow, like her real father's.
Hero's eyes widened when he saw her eyes change. That wasn't a good sign. Because that meant she needed to destroy something, REALLY BADLY.
"Um, come on Emmalyn." He said in a panic as he quickly grabbed her hand. Then in an instant he teleported her inside an empty bedrock room lit by several torches.
"What?! You just going to lock me up in here!?" She shouted with more anger building up.
"Emmalyn look at yourself! You are proving right now that you are my daughter!. Now, I need you to calm down." He said to the girl.
"I- I'm trying! But I can't!" Emmalyn said with an ounce of new worry.
"Okay, okay. I know what should help." Hero said before vanishing.
"Ha-ha, very funny. Timeout." Emmalyn crossed her arms.
"Nope." Hero re appeared with some stone in his hands. Then he hovered up and built a simple statue in the shape of a human. "There. Now just take your anger out on that." Hero instructed the moment he was done. Emmalyn looked at the statue, then took a good long look at Hero before a mildly sinister smile rose on her face. Then she looked at the statue with the same smile and charged at it.
"She just imagined the statue as me didn't she?" Herobrine mumbled to himself. Emmalyn ran right up to the statue and punched at the leg of the statue. The block she punched disintegrated immediately and the blocks around it cracked. "Wow." Hero said with a little amazement. Never had he seen someone so angry like that, other than himself of course. She kept punching until the statue was no more. And it seemed to help because she no longer looked like she was about to destroy everything. "See? That works, right?" Herobrine hovered down, seeing that Emmalyn was much calmer. Her eyes back to normal.
"But that still doesn't help me! I am still so confused!." Emmalyn quickly spun around to face him. Herobrine was silent for a moment. He just stood in front of his recently found daughter with an almost sad expression.
"Listen.." He then placed his hand on his daughter's shoulder. She didn't like the contact, but let it slide. "I know why they never told you.. Alex and Steve... They didn't want you to have to grow up knowing you were the daughter of a monster. They didn't want you to get involved in all this mess you never needed to know about. But, unfortunately, you have now been thrown into the very center of it." He said.
"..What do you mean?.." Emmalyn asked quietly.
"Because right now, you are the only one who can stop war between The End and The Nether." Hero answered.
"H- how?!" Emmalyn elevated her voice a little.
"There is this guy who goes by the name of Entity303. Years ago he claimed the End Throne and has been ruling there decently peacefully. But just recently, he told us he needed..." Hero paused, unsure what to say. That just built up suspense in Emmalyn. "..He wants someone to marry his oldest son.. And he is demanding that I be the one to provide one of my daughters to be married.." He said, the solemness in his speach obvious.
"No.." Emmalyn stepped away with now fear in her eyes.
"Listen, I met the boy once. He's your age. Seventeen.-" H
"-This can't be.-" E
"-A nice boy-" H
"-No I can't do this-" E
"-Good with people-" H
"-I don't want to-" E
"-skilled in fighting-" H
"-I just can't get married, not yet.-" E
"-And just an all around good gentleman.-" H
"Stop it already! Just stop it!! I can't believe the only reason you even went looking for me was because some problem I wasn't even a part of!" She screamed with teary eyes.
"Listen, I am sorry. But I'm not the one pulling the strings here. There will be WAR if you don't get married." Hero began pleading.
"Well I don't care about your stupid war!! I just want to go back home!!!" Emmalyn shouted.
"Do you want your family dead!?!" Herobrine grabbed both her shoulders and shook her out of the state she was in. "They will all die in result of that war!! EVERYONE WILL DIE IF THIS WAR HAPPENS!" He shouted. Emmalyn pulled herself out of Hero's grip and scowled.
"Why do you care all of a sudden?! I thought you just said you were a monster! Monstrs don't care about war!" Emmalyn shouted back. Hero grabbed his head, mentally in pain, and growled loudly.
"Ghaa!.. Listen, I might be a monster, but I have a family now! A family, I need to protect!" He answered.
"Well what about me?! I thought I was just proven to be family too?!" Emmalyn pointed out.
"Can't you think about the majority of the population instead of yourself?!. It's as simple as this.. Get married, you don't have to do anything else. Or not get married, and lose all your friends and family, all the people you ever loved in the process.. The choice is yours..." Then there was a moment of silence, waiting for Emmalyn to think and make a decision...
"...Is he cute?"
