Chapter 61

Martin and Sam were onto Benny, so we drove out of the woods, meeting Dean in a Shipyard where we geared up to hunt some bloodsuckers on a nearby island. Benny and I were walking through a hallway. While he held anything off my back, I walked before him, looking for bloodsuckers or Desmond. Benny tipped me on the shoulder, and I turned my head slightly to the side. He motioned in front, and when I turned my head, I heard fight sounds. With a nod, I walked forward while Benny was close behind me. As we walked around the corner, I saw Dean on the floor with a vampire on top of him. Benny ran past me, grabbed the vamp, and decapitated him; just as I walked up, the head rolled over the ground. "Son of a... It took you long enough." Dean grumbled. I held out my hand to pull him to his feet. "Dean."

I only said his name, and Dean knew what I wanted to say. "Yeah, yeah, I know." Just then, I saw the blood on his neck. "What happened?" I searched through my pockets and found a napkin. You okay?" Dean asked while I handed him the napkin. "Im fine," Benny grumbled; with that, we walked back outside and back to the mainland. "I'll let you two talk, im gonna grab my stuff." I left Dean and Benny; with a quick sweep, I emptied my apartment, handed my keys to the landlord, and drove to the Cafe, where I met up with Dean and Benny. Benny kissed me on the cheek before hugging me in his strong arms. His lips almost touched my ear as he whispered something. "Watch your brother from doing anything stupid," he whispered. I nodded. "I will do that." He drove away while Dean and I watched, waving. "What about Sam?" I asked, and Dean told me he was in Texas. Before we headed to Sam Dean, he finally told me what he had done. "That was a dick move," I mumbled. I had to get him off Benny." Dean argued.

"Yeah, but seriously?" I scoffed and got into my car; I blared loud music while we drove. At some point, after an already rough night, I didn't sleep much, and Dean slept like a bear. I almost fell asleep, so I parked my car and got comfortable for a few hours before heading to Texas, but early in the morning, I got a call from Dean that he was in Rufus Cabin with Cas, who was back from Purgatory about to head out on a rescue mission. "Rescuing an angel, oh great," I mumbled while getting ready to drive. "You don't have to come." Dean sounded pissed, so I gathered his talk with Sam went great. Im not going to stay in the cabin." I replied before hanging up and driving to Montana, which wasn't far from Oklahoma, where I stayed the night; when I arrived, I saw that the Impala was not standing in front of the cabin.

Since I didn't know how long they would be gone, I slept a lot and read a few books until Sam and Dean arrived. I got nervous since it had been over three weeks since Dean told me he'd returned from Purgatory. I awkwardly sat on the couch with Dean while Sam sprayed an Enochian symbol on the door to protect us from angels. I still had no idea, so Dean finally told me while Sam got us some beer from the kitchen. "Cas has changed since he came back from Purgatory." Dean ended. "So, what, you think someone's messing with him?"

I asked when Sam passed me a beer. "Who?" Dean asked, but before I answered, Sam did. "Angels," he suggested. "Why would the angels have him kill another angel?" Dean asked; I was also confused as to why this happened. "That poor kid, he seemed like a nice kid," I mumbled more to myself. Sam left a while later to clear his head while Dean and I stayed behind. Since we were running out of beer, I went out to buy more; when I returned, Sam was drinking beer with Dean while I put the beer in the fridge before heading over and sitting between my brothers on the couch, eating and watching a boxing game. Dean and I went on a spontaneous walk the next day, and he told me everything that happened in Purgatory after looking for Kevin. "I can't believe Crowley tried to do that?" I said while we walked through the forest. "We have him safe, and he's figuring the tablet out," Dean told me; for a while, it was quiet. "You heard from Benny?" I asked to kill the silence between us. "We talked on the phone yesterday, and he's okay." Dean looked irritated, so I dropped the topic.

Sam, Dean, and I left the cabin a few days later to do a job, but on our way back, Sam called me, telling me we were heading to Minnesota. "What's there?" I asked. "Dude got ripped limb from limb inside his locked apartment," Sam explained. "Sounds ominous," I mumbled. "Yeah." Sam sighed when I heard Dean. "Hey Kee, you might wanna turn off your GPS," he said. "Why?" I got confused. "Garth is tracking us," Sam said. "Yeah, we've got Garth'd," Dean grumbled. "Garth'd?" I raised an eyebrow.
