Chapter Eight
"B..Bluefur?" He stumbled back. She looked strong.
"Beware of the creature with the third eye." She whispered, her silhouette vanished along with her visibility. He stood. Beware of the creature with the third eye..?
He shook off a strange feeling welling up in his stomach, and proceeded to talking to his kits.
Cracklepaw dropped the load off by the time he arrived to her. She looked up. "Oh hello Thrushpelt." She glanced at the ground, guilt clearly shining in her eyes. "I just went for a little hunt.." She gulped, and Thrushpelt knew something was up. He noticed her paw looked slightly.. Flimsy.
"What's wrong with your paw?" He asked.
"Please don't tell Sunstar! I.. I don't want anything to stop me from being a warrior.. Or leader!" She silently pleaded.
"Woah woah, slow down Cracklepaw. Tell me what's wrong with it!" He demanded. At a time like this her hyper and slightly obnoxious self wasn't needed.
"Well.. I was hunting by snakerocks and..." She stopped. "And an adder tried to attack me." She finished.
Thrushpelt stared in shock. "We must tell Sunstar! And Featherwhisker..! It could be permanently damaged."
"Please don't! I mean.. I'm fine, really." She lied. It was clear she was in pain. For starters she wasn't walking on it, and it looked like an inflated balloon.
He couldn't stand lies and omens. With a giant shove, he pushed Cracklepaw into the medicine den. A faint yowl could be heard in the distance, and he chose to ignore it.
The noise grew louder, and he covered his ears. It was a high pitched ringing, and it made him feel as if his ears were to bleed. He looked at the direction of the sound, and broke into a run to see what was making the racket.
He made it to the WindClan border. The noise was penetrating his mind now. He shook away the thought of doubt and stepped over the border. He crept through the heather until the noise stopped, and he was looking into the WindClan camp. All the cats were dead..
The dead cats circled a silhouette. It was a black figure. Something... Familiar. The stench of this cat was familiar, but it was horrid. You couldn't identify it. Suddenly, it opened its eyes. Two shining yellow eyes, glowing on the spot, but it's brilliant eyes didn't catch his attention.
What caught his attention was the third eye placed upon it's forehead. The third eye was red. A bloody red... He wanted to run, but he couldn't help but stare in horror a tad longer.
Finally, the figure noticed him and he knew his que to run back to camp, which he did. He ran into camp, his fur stiffened up.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey meet under the highrock for a Clan meeting!" Sunstar yowled. All of the Clan had gathered. One moon passed since Thrushpelt spotted the figure. It haunted him in his dreams, instead of dreaming about Bluefur with him and their kits, he saw the third eyed cat. He always called out in his sleep, and his Clanmates probably suspected something was wrong.
"As you know, prey is scarce. So, with hard consideration, I have decided to lead an attack patrol to claim WindClan territory." He announced. Thrushpelt's eyes widened in terror, the dream with all the dead WindClan cats shown. He shook his head, Warriors do not need to spill blood to win a battle. He looked up at his leader.
"We will attack the camp, destroy the medicine supply, steal their prey, and kill if they stop us. I know it may seem cruel." He glanced at Thrushpelt, "but they will recover, eventually." He added with a hiss.
Thrushpelt was keen to hear who was going to attack, he wanted to avoid going.
"The first patrol that will fight off warriors will be Thrushpelt, Robinwing, Cinderpaw, Patchpelt, and Thistleclaw will lead." The clan leader informed. "The group that will gather the prey will be Cracklepaw and myself." The rest guard the camp, also, I need some warriors to help destroy the medicine supply, I'd like Adderfang, Stormtail, and Dappletail to do so, we attack at dawn." He bounded from the highrock and went to his den.
Fear pulsed through Thrushpelt, there was no getting out, but what would happen if Cracklepaw, Cinderpaw, and Robinwing don't make it out? He went to the Warriors den, sighing as he examined Robinwing's empty nest, she probably went to sleep with Echokit. He rolled his eyes and drifted to sleep.
