lost memories
『 your p.o.v 』
The forest is dark, a chilled wind blowing past as I wander down the grown over path. I can't hear anything but the twigs and leaves snapping and crunching beneath my feet as I go. Thankfully the clouds are rolling by quick enough for the bright moonlight to trickle down through gaps in the trees, illuminating the darkness just the smallest bit.
How long have I been out here? Why am I out in the woods to begin with? What happened to me?
"Just where are you?"
I shook my head some at the familiar, soft and warm feminine voice, hesitantly glancing around. The silence is making me uneasy. I don't like it one bit. It's unsettling. There's a lingering feeling of being watched settling over myself and if I knew where I was, I would have ran out of this forest as fast as my legs would have taken me. But I don't know which direction I came from or which direction I'm walking in. Everything is blurring together and I can't remember.
There's something about these woods that drew me in. I needed to come in here, but I don't know where here even is. There's something I need to find.
"Find what? "
I don't know.
"The mansion."
What mansion?
"Keep walking ___ and you'll find the mansion."
Listening to the voice in my head that surely isn't my own, I continued onwards feeling as if I'm some crazy person. There's nothing else for me to do anyways so I might as well indulge the voice and see if I can come across that mansion she's wanting me to find.
All the trees look the same, the wind growing colder and colder the longer I walk. I wrap my arms around my body in hopes of trapping some sort of warmth. Shivers wrack my body and I'm getting sleepy. It hurts to keep walking.
After what felt like an eternity, the trees of the forest finally began to clear, the clouds up above growing heavier the further away from the forest's edge I walk. The mansion before me is large and the estate it's placed upon even larger than the mansion itself. Everything about it just screams old gothic spooky mansion from some nineteen-thirty's movie. I found myself slightly awestruck by the structure. It's truly something else...
The gardens out front are surprisingly well kept up with, the flowers blooming beautifully and glistening in the moonlight as I tentatively approach them. The large front gate to the mansion wasn't locked and, if anything, seemed to open on it's own. All I had to do was walk up to it and it slowly pushed open just a crack, inviting me to further open it.
There was a that persistent feeling of being watched still lingering over me like a blanket of anticipation and anxiety with every step I took. It took everything within me to not turn on my heels and hurry off the premises. The mansion may be beautiful, scarily so, but the air surrounding the place is not worth dying for.
"You won't die."
Easy for you to say...
Moving away from the rose bushes, I made my way to stand in front of the large mansion's doors. I peer to my left and then to my right, truly wondering if I'm being followed before raising a hand and softly knocking. The sound echoes off into the dead of the night just as small raindrops begin to fall. I sigh. What was the point of coming here in the first place?
Suddenly the doors open with loud creaks, the sound causing me to cringe and take a step back. A chill runs up my spine when I notice that there's no one standing within the main foyer, not a soul in sight. The doors clearly opened by themselves. As I just stare inside the cryptic mansion, the rain quickly begins to fall harder as the wind starts picking up in severity. If I don't want to be caught out here all alone in a storm with no shelter, I have no choice but to enter the mansion and hope nothing too horrible happens to me.
"You need to go in ___."
Pushing the voice away as much as possible, I hesitantly take a step inside. It's only then I realize that I've brought nothing along with me, the entire trip through the woods spent with no supplies whatsoever. I can't imagine what hell would have found me if I stayed out during the storm that's beginning to rage on just outside these mansions large walls. I might have died due to hypothermia or maybe even frostbite with how quickly the winter temperatures have been dropping recently.
Glancing around some, I took notice of the large portrait painting hanging at the top of the grand staircase just in front of the large doors. A man with long, pure white hair and striking golden eyes smirked down at me from where the portrait is hung up. I couldn't help but stare for a few moments.
Familiar.
Something about that man is very familiar and I don't quite know why...
With a sigh, I frustratedly brush my fingers through my hair before tugging on the strands some. This is the worst. I know I should remember him. There's something important about that man in the painting, but I can't remember. I can barely remember where I was before I entered the forest so how am I supposed to remember a man I could have seen yesterday or seen years ago? It's impossible.
With reluctant steps, I slowly made my way deeper into the mansion. The halls were dimly lit by the candles lining the walls as well as by the chandeliers hanging sporadically from the ceilings. The flames flickered as I walked past, the light now dancing on everything it touches just the smallest bit.
"Oh? Has someone wandered into our little mansion now?~"
I froze at the velvet voice that came from behind me. Though when I glanced over my shoulder, no one was there. Nothing but the empty hallway greeting me with a cold loneliness I'm already quite accustomed to.
"Over here Bitch-chan." The voice spoke up this time from in front of me with a light-hearted chuckle.
Facing forward once more, I was surprised to now see a relatively tall young man with deep auburn hair and forest emerald green eyes staring back at me, a fedora placed perfectly atop his head. The smirk dancing across his lips made a shiver run up my spine. The small birthmark just under his lips and to the left quickly caught my attention as well, something about him looking slightly familiar. Not as familiar as the painting, but, I think I've seen him before sometime prior to this. Though if he feels the same as I do, the fedora-wearing boy doesn't show it.
"So why did you wander on in here, hm?" He asked, stalking closer with every small step he takes.
I stared at him for a moment as I attempted to think of a sound answer. It's not like I can exactly say the voice in my head told me to come in here and tada, here I am because then he'll think I'm insane and I don't think that would particularly work out in my favor at this point in time...
"Does it matter?" Another person spoke up from behind me, the voice belonging to a young man on the shorter side of the spectrum with matching amethyst colored eyes and hair, a teddy bear being hugged closely to his chest.
"It's unusual for someone to come wandering in here so I think questioning her is a valid course of action." A black haired young man with thinly framed dark grey classes added in his own opinion as his crimson eyes focused on myself from behind the fedora wearing boy, everyone seemingly appearing out of thin air.
A red head laughed as he leaned against the wall. "Ore-sama could use a replacement Chichinashi."
"You need the replacement?" The albino scoffed, appearing right beside me. "You nearly killed the last one that was here and you need the replacement?"
The red head gave a nonchalant shrug of his shoulders. "Not my fault she was getting out of hand."
"Girl," the blonde sitting on the floor with his back pressed up against the wall of the hallway said as his way of addressing me, a single one of his ocean blue eyes open, "what's your name?"
My name?
My eyebrows furrowed together some as I had to concentrate. I can't remember the last time someone asked for my name, then again, I can't really remember the last time I spoke with someone. My memory has only degraded further over the years and I couldn't tell you when my birthday is if you asked.
"___."
My thoughts momentarily stopped as I focused on the girl's soft voice echoing around through my mind. It takes quite a bit of effort to listen to her sometimes, especially when there are other people around. That much I can remember.
"Your name. Your name is ___."
"My name is ___." I repeated to the six boys around me. At least that sounds like something my name would be. It has a familiar ring to it so I'll keep it for the time being. Maybe when I get my memories back, if I ever do that is, I'll remember just who I am and what happened to me before my memory began withering away like the petals of a dying rose.
The fedora wearing boy leaned down some to get a better look at my face. "You sound unsure Bitch-chan." He mused. "Do we make you so nervous you forgot your own name?"
I shook my head. "My memory is fading and I can't remember anything." I responded without thinking. That was probably the last thing I should have let these strange boys know...
This peaked the glasses wearing boys interest some. "Memory loss? You can't remember something as simple as your own name?"
"No, I can't even remember where I was yesterday and it's a struggle to so much as remember why I came here in the first place." I explained seeing as I already outed myself. "I know I walked through the forest outside, though I don't remember anything before that. Everything is blocked by wall after wall and I just can't remember anything..."
The red head chuckled. "You'll forget even us won't you?" He asked to which I reluctantly nodded because, with time, I will. Nothing is exempt from my failing memory. "Now that's interesting."
"A girl who won't remember who sucked her dry the following night." The boy with amethyst colored eyes said, a smile stretching across his lips. "Would she even remember that we're vampires?"
"I doubt she'll remember our names let alone that we're vampires." The red head scoffed.
My eyes slowly widened at that as I glanced between each of the boys. "Vampires?" I repeated. "Do those really exist?"
"You tell me." The fedora wearing boy said, reaching forward to grab my wrist and tug me a little closer to his chest. "How about I bite into you and we see if these fangs are real."
Feeling fear bubbling up in my chest only to wrap around my heart like a cage, I couldn't do much more than stare on in shock as the emerald green eyed boy smiled, his fangs on full display now. The second his lips touched the cool, sensitive skin of my wrist, I flinched and felt my heart jump into my throat.
"Laito." The black haired boy warned, those crimson red eyes of his narrowing at the fedora wearing vampire. "This isn't something that just happens for no reason and I would advise you to not kill her."
The smile gracing the fedora wearing vampires lips fell as he looked to the black haired vampire with a bored expression. "But she's our food."
"She came in here on her own accord so if we kill her it's not our fault." The albino vampire reasoned with nothing but disinterest in his voice. He could clearly care less about what happens to me.
"I agree with Reiji. Don't kill her." The blonde said, both of his ocean blue eyes now opened. "When do coincidences happen to us? This isn't just some chance encounter. There's something different about her and I think you all can feel it as well."
A silence fell around the six vampires and I, the emerald green eyed vampire still holding onto my wrist with a death grip. Though when his eyes flicked to my own, he smiled. He pulled me straight into his chest before. And before I could so much as process what was happening, he forced my neck to tilt sideways some and then bit down right through the skin of my shoulder.
A cry of pure pain escaped my lips for only a fraction of a second before I quickly bit the inside of my cheek to keep quiet. It hurts. It hurts so much. I could feel when his fangs punctured through the surface of my skin, the sensation of them moving about causing me nothing but pain and then something else. Underlying all the pain is a strange warmth, an absolutely intoxicating warmth that if I wasn't in so much pain I'd surely chase after with everything I have.
"What the hell Laito, why did you get the first bite?" The red head snapped.
The glasses wearing vampire sighed. "Sometimes I wonder if you ever listen to me." He mumbled before walking forward to place a hand on the fedora wearing vampires shoulder. With a firm grip, he pulled the vampire off me, his fangs ripping my skin a bit as he was forced back. "I said we need her alive- not for you to kill her right in front of us."
"That smell," The blonde spoke up once more, "that's not human blood."
The fedora wearing vampire chuckled as he wiped at my blood that trickles down from his lips to his chin with the back of his hand. "Sure isn't human, but it tastes amazing. I'm getting all hot and bothered just thinking about tasting her again.~" He said, a blush tinting his cheeks as he looks to me with lidded eyes. I vaguely heard the albino vampire mutter "pervert" under his breath as he moved to lean up against the wall.
Lifting a shaky hand to place over the leaking bite wound, I internally cringed at the feeling of my warm blood trailing down my shoulder and staining the front of my shirt. "I-I don't understand..." I stuttered out lamely. "I'm human, aren't I?"
"No, there's something weird going on here because you're definitely not human Chichinashi." The red head said with a laugh. "You should see the look on your face mixed with the blood on your hand, you look helpless and it's great."
"I promise they can be nice..."
Her voice came into my thoughts and washed over me like a soothing wave and was gone in a matter of seconds, so quickly that I couldn't focus on it even if I tried. Just who is that girl and why can I hear her voice when there's no one around but these six vampires? I've never seen the girl and yet I feel like I should know her voice. It's so familiar and not because I continuously hear it. She's just, always been there for me and I can't explain how I know that for a fact.
Gosh, there's just so many things I need to be answered. The main one now being just what am I if I'm not human? Does it even make sense for me to be anything but human? I'm pretty sure I'm human and I think I'd know if I wasn't... Then again, I don't know anything about my past as of this moment so who knows. I could be some sort of vampire for all I know and- well, wouldn't I have fangs then if that was the case?
With a blank expression, the crimson eyed vampire hidden behind a pair of glasses looked to me. "We need to find you a room and new clothes to change into after you've bathed. Follow me." He said curtly and then began walking further down the hallway, easily leaving me behind.
"Reiji wait!" I called out to him and everyone seemed to pause at that, even myself.
Slowly, the black haired vampire turned around to look at me once more but now with an expression void of any emotion. "You just said my name." He noted.
I applied a little more pressure to the bite wounds the fedora wearing vampire with the emerald green eyes inflicted upon myself. There's nothing I can say right now. I don't know how I know his name. I've never met him before in my life- well, that's a lie. I wouldn't know if I've ever met him before. But I'm sure none of these vampires had said his name so me suddenly calling out to him like that without a second of hesitation doesn't make any sense.
"Do you know us?" The glasses wearing vampire then asked, taking a step closer to me. "Do we know you?"
"She does look familiar." The albino spoke up from where he continued to lean against the wall.
The amethyst haired vampire hugged his teddy bear a little closer to his chest. There's something awfully familiar about that stuffed teddy bear as well, the way it's stitched mouth curves up and the cute pink vest it wears catching and holding my attention the longer I stare at it. "Back when we were younger, there was that one girl, wasn't there?" The amethyst haired boy said, caving in on himself some. "The one mother hated."
I glanced from Reiji to the other vampires curiously. "Hated?" I repeated.
"Nothing you need to concern yourself with tonight." Reiji said, turning around once more and beginning to walk away. "Now follow me. You will be attending school with us from here on out and I expect you to accompany us starting tomorrow night." He added on shortly.
Quickly, I hurried after the crimson eyed vampire and tried to not let the pain radiating from my shoulder distract me too much. But the feeling of once again being watched loomed over me within seconds. Taking a hesitant glance over my shoulder, I wasn't all that surprised to find the other five vampires all watching my every move right up to when I turned down a different hallway.
There's something strangely familiar about them, and, I want to know just why that is...

Soooooo guess who's back with a new dialovers fanfic ^^ me~ These chapters are longer than my last book (roughly a little over 3,000 words per chapter while the previous book had around 1,000-2,000 words per chapter) and I'm putting a ton of effort into the plot so please read on ahead if you want to find out how your character slowly deals with her amnesia and also just who that girls voice belongs to x3
Question of the Chapter (because I love these tbh): Do you have any guesses as to why/ how your character now has amnesia (because in the past she didn't so she wasn't born with this)? I'm curious as to what everyone's ideas might be.~
Oh yeah, readers who have made it this far! I also have a discord server open for everything anime and kpop related so if you'd like to join, go to my profile and click the link in my bio! ♡ There's already a few people in there and it'd be great if we could get more people to join and chat around.~ Discord is free and pretty easy to use so come on and friend me and others who like the same things you do!
